I know its been suggested before, But seriously its getting ridiculous. Its ruining the player enviroment.
Jita is flooded with spamming scammers. All the secondary "superhubs" are also being flooded. Expected right? Now its popping up in other less busy local channels mission hubs with less than 100 people FFS. NPC corp chats have picked up alot of constant isk seller and scam spammers now. I have two alts in different NPC corps, Spamming has picked up in the last month or two as more people are turning to using scams to make money in eve.
Its really affecting the players experience the poor noobs cant even ask and answer questions in their noob corp channel cause scammers spam it every 5 seconds.
Its way out of hand and getting past the point of slightly annoying. Everywhere i go someone is spamming local or some other public channel with stupid crap that shouldnt even be allowed in eve anyway.
DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT ALREADY.

agreed, its not so much the scams themselves but the spam...
Local was a place where legit sellers could advertise, but due to the amount of spam, and the distrust because majority of contracts are scams, are hurting traders
I do understand that CCP which to keep things realistic in terms of scams, but something needs to be done, as this much spam and scam cannot be healthy for the game, not only as a community, but the spam must cause load on the servers

Systems like Jita need a comptroller or a mayor.
This guy would be able to ban people from local chat for a period of time, if hes not liking their tone. Its not democratic, it isnt fair and its heavy handed. Thats why it would work. He might also put the concord on ya, if you were a bit nefarious with the old scamming and ****ing enough people off.

Since scamming is allowed, they would not send CONCORD after them, but ...
- I sign that something needs to be done! In RL you can create spam filters; in EVE you can only block the sender, which does not help when they constantly create new accounts.
- That brings me to a possible solution: Don't allow people to create contracts with more than 99mill cost, in their first month of existence (or within trial time). Afterwards they could scam like they want, but it would be easier to block people and they can't come back with a new account within hours.

Easy fix: Make it impossible to link contracts in Local char or NPC corp corp chat.
Elegant fix: Round ISK amounts in contracts to 3 significant figures. Thus 2,999,999,999 would be rounded to "3.00 billion"

Signed. Its getting out of hand. I don't go to Jita often but i've never seen spamming this bad. If you can't earn isk by yourself then go play WOW and go rob some gold or something. I think CCP should alter the contracts system like putting the ammount at the end of the number. For example- 998,536,000 Nine-Hundred and ninety eight million five hundred and thirty-six Thousand ISK. This will put a stop to most of the scams. Seriously though this is ruining the game, Plz do something about it CCP.

definetly getting out of hand and as a business owner in real life, false advertising is illegal and ccp knows this aswell. for these people to scam right out in local without penalty and ccp to say 'ohwell you should have known better', is really poor business on their part. thats why we have court systems throughout the world and would have one in eve if it were real.
get rid of it now... /signed

This was funny at first, but now is way beyond funny. There is hardly a system i go to that u do not see at least a dozen people trying this scam.it causes lag as people open lots of the contracts out of curiosity.also makes it impossible to sell genuine contracts as people just now assume every contract linked is a scam. i am sure ccp could sort this if they wanted.i know scamming is part of Eve, but not when it is ruining the game for a lot of people.

Simple fix: Trial accounts cannot create contracts nor can any character less than 14 days old. Simple.
Let's face it, in 14 or 21 days, you are not likely to have anything WORTH contracting. I'm sorry but it's true.

the problem with IP bannings is that most people are using dynamic IP's.
ive always been in favor of something a) more permanent and b) less indescriminate
if possible, id go for MAC address bannings. that way every time a spammer gets banned, he needs to buy a new router. that should put a dent in profits, yes?

If you'd checked, you'd have seen this is already the case. It doesn't fix the problem because the contract scammers are alts on older accounts, while the isk sellers are just spamming chats. The only real solution to the second problem is to drastically limit newbie chat outside of certain channels.
I'm strongly in favor of CCP hiring Blackwater mercs to go assassinate the isk seller spammers. But I'm told I'm not a nice person.
anyway, signed.

There's a limit on how many you can block and why should 200.000 subscripters be forced to each and everyone block one bot, when obviously that bot ought to be banned? A lot of the scam spamming is bots!
Lets just find a way to stop this nonsense NOW!

I doubt thats the solution as a lot of the actual scam spammers are registered accounts. ISK sellers are normally trial accounts, but thats because CCP are actually trying to deal with that problem.
The scam spam problem is just being ignored and considered "Trade PvP" - I've never heard anything that stupid, but hey!
A simple solution could be making a typed out price for all contracts, so 950,000,001 ISK would be typed as (950 million and 1 isk) behind the price or 999,999,999 as (999 million 999 thousand and 999 isk).
I know this might sound silly as people ought to be able to tell the difference on their decimals, but never the less. I'm sick of the scam spam, I'm sick of a zillion stupid contracts flooding the market, when I look for something and I'm sick of bots!

this is getting way past the point of 'trade pvp' I'm going to go as far as to say that 95% (or more) of all trade hub local chat is a scam.
the idea about fully spelling out the numbers would work to reduce the scams I bet because they would be less effective.
'getting ridiculous' is an understatement : P I only pod because I don't want them to have a long trip back. |

I don't understand why CCP made Contracts linkable in chat. It seems to me that anyone wanting to buy something from contract will already be looking for it there. All spamming it (legitimately or scamming) does is **** people off and get you blocked.
CCP's Scam Possibility Policy does not have a spam clause.
