I'm getting an annoying problem.
Usually i get ~60 fps while in space (i got interval 1 in the settings).
Then when i hit 'dock' on the right click menu, the ship aligh and enter warp and my fps instantly drop to ~20 then while docked my fps go down to ~7-10 fps, making the game slow, boring, frustrating.
Is anyone else getting this problem? Is there anything i can do?

Edited by: Grez on 09/05/2009 10:10:30 You've turned on v-sync. If it can't render 60 frames, it goes to 30, if it can't do that, 15, if it can't do that, 7, etc, etc.
Turn off v-sync and don't turn it on unless you know what you're doing and you actually require it.
If you need it because your hardware falls over pitifully without it, get hardware which works properly and don't go cheap.
For the record, v-sync = interval, and 1 = on. --- Grez: I shot the sheriff Kalazar: But I could not lock the Deputy BECAUSE OF FALCON |

Also V-Sync is Useless if you use an LCD Monitor as well. Since it doesn't use a Refresh Rate like the Old CRTs do. --

Isn't interval 1 better on laptops? I've heard so.

Lies, the interface between monitor and pc still uses a refresh rate. While it is true LCD'ds have a response time instead of an refresh rate, the interface is usually still limited to 60hz. Enabeling v-sync will prevent trearing on lcd's just like it did ont crt's.

Interval one will prevent your laptop from pumping out too much frames you can't really see anyway. By doing that it also stops generating a lot of heat, which is probably better since the average laptop cooling is pretty crap. _

Every time i read that in threads like this... Its either something wrong with your eyes or your head. Sounds awesome that you know that much but honestly, dont tell me you cant tell the difference in a game between 25 fps and 40 or 40 and 80 fps. Cause i can. Even 80 and 120 is different...
Thats how cool i am.
And thats how cool youre not, for thinking you wrote something smart. Even a cartoon looks crappy under 40 pictures/second.

i get the same problem. out in space, everything is fine and dandy...but as soon as i enter a station my FPS goes to crap, and the whole game chugs. this happens no matter the video settings, and i usually end up keeping the settings at absolute minimum so i can actually fit my ship.
would be interesting to know what the heck is going on. |

The human eye processes a constant stream of input. It has no maximum frame rate. So you're wrong.
