I'm a personal fan of the Ishkur, but I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to train for other race's AFs. I understand that the Harpy can be quite good, while I also understand that the Hawk is total garbage. Are the Amarr and Minnie Afs any good?

I will vouch for the Harpy and Jag being passable. I know people <3 the Wolf, but I can't find it in me. :-/

The Jaguar, Ishkur, and Harpy stand out to me as the 3 AFs that are worth flying for solo PvP. For PvE, as well as for dps support in gangs, the Retribution and Wolf are also good. The Hawk and Vengeance can pretty much be written off due to the worthlessness of rockets. The Enyo is a Harpy with a crappier slot layout.

Ishkur, Jaguar and Harpy. Wolf is the best tier 1 AF but just like Liang I'm not a fan of it.

Off the top of my head I can't think of any AF that isn't "good", some are good at different things though. Vengence/Hawk are far from worthless also, as they can control range on most other AF's and probably have the 2 best tanks of any AF. Others like the Enyo or Retribution will be damage support in a gang due to lack of mids. ------ // This is by design. I have a theory that Liang is actually Skynet, and this is it's way of taking over the world since the movies came out and blew it's cover. Who'd suspect a meglomaniacal forum troll?

If the gang already has tackle(rs) then I personally will fly the Retribution. No point to the other AF's if you already have scrams in gang/fleet. ---

How often are you in an AF when you aren't a designated tackler?

I like the wolf but it needs a tracking bonus to fight drones or an AB bonus so it can actually keep up w/ cruisers. Nice DPS. Nice buffer or even active tank potential. But too slow and poor tracking put it in the hangar most times for me.

I have a friend that loves to fly Vengeance in a tanky secondary tackler fit. He has crap damage (I think only 2 rockets fit), but quite a nice tank for latching onto things and holding them until the gang arrives.
Retribution looks interesting for some frigate DPS, but with only 1 mid sort its role is limited to gang DPS. But you could honestly just fly a destroyer or a cruiser and do better I think. At least, I haven't come up with any fits for it that I like.

Dessy will fold under any DPS and a cruiser is too chunky to pull off mitigating incomming fire from med guns and it wont hit inti's let alone rip them in half in seconds.

Whenever we have a roaming T2 frig gang. I usually don't need a point when I know there are 5 - 8 other people in gang who "probably" have one.
The only way to roam is in frigs. Oh so delicious. Oh so hard to be caught. ---

I have to give it to the Blarpy as that is the AF I least like to engage in a Jag/Wolf. You get too close and you are toast. The Jag is more versatile with all the mids and high base speed, but I am still drawn to the Wolf more for the DPS.

It works w/ a MWD and armor buffer but that isn't a playstyle I like w/ a 22 million isk ship so I leave it in the hangar.

I'd say the Jaguar hands down bucause of it's ability to get away if needed with Ishkur as second.
