So there we are sitting in Low Sec mining a hidden belt (I know its gay and pirates usually don't do it but it was money). My corp mate tells me there is a myrmidon on scan so I undock my trusty taranis and get to scanning. I find the pilot sitting at Planet 6 at 0km, and like any nice person would scramble and start shooting. After he goes into armor I open up the conversation that follows.
Hambonie > you want to keep your ship or not
Hambonie > this is funny
Him > i do
Him > ok ok
Him > 40 mi,.l
Him > please stop
Hambonie > pay first
Him > ok ok
Him > i payed
Him > stop now and i give you another 10 mil
Him > cmon
Him > no stop, no money
Hambonie > sorry was on the phone
So after honoring the ransom I let the poor guy warp off. I wait a couple of minutes still mining with my other character while sitting off my global. When I get to 4 min left I sill notice he is in local and our chat is still open in which he continues to talk to me
Him > i'm just a lonely explorer
Hambonie > understand
Him > i cant afford this
Hambonie > afford what
Him > getting blown up again
Him > I have very little money left
Him > i need protection
Him > You're a rogue pilot. maybe I could hire you to protect me while I scan the universe?

Hambonie > so how do you have the myrm set up

At this point I scan him down to Planet 4 Moon 1 and warp in at 0 and there he is sitting there all by himself and scram him again.

I paid a 20m pod ransom (cos i fail) to save my talismans, dude thought I had +3's Then he got all butthurt and QQ'd when I told him I infiltrated missions and plexes for a living.

Props to Hambonie for teaching the ret@rd a lesson. Personally I wouldn't have ransomed him the second time, Just blowen him up and sent him back to high sec VIA the ole clone express.

u should of told him it was a 1 time deal and that he should leave system at least u honoured it thou good man.
People who dishonour ransoms are as low as kiddie fiddlers imho
how u behave online in game must come from how u behave in rl in some manor tbh imo.

Reminds me of about two weeks ago, when I was solo roaming in a BC. I was lagging so much, and at first I warped into 6 frigs (3 T1, 2 inties and an AF). I overloaded my highs hoping to kill as many as I could before going pop, but for some reason they decided to run.
I managed to get one kill and had another pointed, but despite my attempts at stopping the overload, it just wouldn't work. So I was there, with my guns burned out, waiting for my hammerheads to pop the frig. Got the loot, docked and went for another fight. They were all back, but one of them switched to a BC and two others to cruisers.
Needless to say, they got my pod. I was offered 60m to let it go, and I originally thought I had about 200 mil in implants. Told them it wasn't worth that much and managed to get it down to 30m. After I docked, I look at my character sheet and noticed I was in my HG Slaves clone, with several other expensive implants.
Best ransom I've ever paid.

How about this? I was doing a FW mission for the Minmatar in a T1 frig/destroyer plex in my rifter. A Kestrel warps in, begins locking me, and I warp out. No big deal. I warp back, see his friend in a Arbi at the gate, go though the gate, and land on top of the kestrel.
All our clones are <2 months old at the time, although I only have 50k sp in anything but learning skills. I lock this rocket spewing kestrel while his friend spams convos on me. I destroy his ship, scram his pod and allow the spammed convo to go though. It went something like this:
Channel message "We are ransoming YOU, do not try to delay!"
Me:2 mil and he goes free.
arbi guy: Ok
Me: I'm waiting, hurry up. (At this time I notice arbi is no longer at the gate using Dscan)
arbi guy: You've not sent me anything.
Me: I have your buddy in his pod, locked down, and I will pop him if I don't get 2 mil soon.
arbi guy: ok (Dscan shows an "Arbi guy's Punisher" on 360.)
Me: OK hes dead.

I'm at half structure, and while I don't fear punishers because of two mids, I do know I can't kite him far out enough yet with emp ammo and 50k non-learning sp without going into structure again and losing the fight. So I finish looting the wrecks and leave. I saw him in local a few weeks later in another corp, but the worst of it was I lost sec status I didn't want to lose for poping him.
So lesson for Pirates: Chose your targets carefully, and don't go out in a rocket kestrel.

If u have 80mil of implants in and i offer u a ransom of 50mil it seems stuiped not to pay it u save urself isk the trouble of getting a new clone and implants plus a loss mail.
And most of teh big pirate corps united veto the guristas ones etc etc will honour them its phail wanna be pirates that dishonuor them

I really dont see how paying 50M and then getting your pod blown up + giving the pirates isk to buy more ships is better than just getting your pod blown up.

My clones have implants and all my implants cost quite a bit more than 80 mil. I did not get to this point by handing out isk to every person that pointed a gun at me. I got what I have by being smart and not expecting more from pirates than what the OP demonstrated-- congrats on killing a sheep.
If you are shrew enough to catch me then I must have messed up on the risk calculation. Don't bother opening a convo. Kill away. By the time you finish picking up all my t2 junk I will be back in business and already forgotten about it.
What I won't do is aid you in a business model that is designed to hurt me. That's just stupid.
Say "No!" to ransoms.
ps. what's a loss mail ?

looks like the lossmail is a touchy subject considering i mention 4 other penaltys from dieing.
Well people pay me ransoms everyday and i always honour them.
i still don't see the points ur making, pay me 50mil or pay someone on teh market teh cost of ur implants and pay the station for a new clone whih is most likely more than 50mil.
its cheaper to pay me, make sense to me.
