Like someone else said. There's a official response. No skill queue. End of story.
Not necessarily. I remember when Mythic said we were never getting more than four character slots in Dark Age of Camelot (ôend of storyö). I think about a year later when Shrouded Isles expansion came out we got four more slots per server. So never say never, but I think in this case a completely web-based skill queuing would be bad for the game. I would personally like a skill queue but, like others said, its not going to happen and I agree with CCP for their reasoning behind not putting in a skill queue.
basically, STOP BEING LAZY!!!!!!!!! train long skills, so what if you lose 3 hours on skill training, ONOS!!! ITS HTE END OF ZE WORLD!!! ................. |

What might be nice is a feature that allows you to select the skill you want, and then queues any pre-required skills for you, informing you of any skill books you may need.
Wouldn't affect long term players much because we probably have them all, but it would really help new players who can become confused by the training system. ______________________________________________
Never argue with idiots. They will just drag it down to their level, and then beat you through experience. |

Seriously, this is a game. We do not need a skill cue. Eve is more accomodating than most games by allowing offline training. Isn't that enough? The people who (for instance) wake up in the middle of the night to set a skill absolutely scare me.
If it's THAT important to you, either get a laptop and use it when you're away, or get a PPC with a VNC client loaded and remote control your home PC from wherever you are.***
***I'm not sure this will work even if you run eve in windowed mode because of the graphics overlay (don't know if that will show as anything but a big black square). Never felt the need to try it.
I've been playing since day one & i've missed less than 24 hours of training time. I don't set an alarm to get up.. I simply train short skill-spans while I'm on & set longer ones when I'm going to be offline. So if that scares you then ...

Why would we need a skil queue? For what actually? I follow the Procedure as it has been posted here many times... train those short time skills while playing... train a 6 hour skill or more over night and switch to another skill in the morning. Or just choose a even longer skill to skip the morning switch
it's not really a problem shifting the completion of a given skill into a time frame where one is online... just train another for a few hours to push the completion to a point that suits you.
Skill queue... no,we don't need it, lazy bums

Originally by: Sybylle No, we don't need a skill queue... What we need is that old auto-continu training after level reached, as a checkable option...
I explain :
-launch a skill from level 0 to 1. -check the "Continue Training" box -skill reaches level 1 -receive a mail saying so -skill continues automatically to next level
It's similar to a skill queue, but I'd prefer such an option allowing to train skills for many levels without having to relog each time. After all, it's like training from lvl 4 to 5, but it's for lower levels ^^
I subscribe this idea and add a bit more...
once reached lvl5 then next skill under the same branch kicks in

Even though there has been an offical response say that this is NOT going to happen, I still feel the need to throw in my 2 cents.
EVE's skill training is one of the best ones around as it currently is. With minimal planning, you can train skills almost 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Being able to train a skill that has nothing to do with what you are actually doing in game is another plus (ie training mining while you are hunting rats, training gunnery skills while you are doing hauling missions, etc). Most of us have probably played other games, and know that in those (SWG, DAoC, EQ) you need to be there at your computer and logged in and PLAYING in order to advance.
In this game, time is the great equilizer. While it make take you forever to catch up with someone who has been in the game for a year, you eventually can, where as in other games, you never will, even if you try to powergame.
We don't need a skill queue. If you don't think that, try playing one of those other MMORPG's that require you to play for hours on end just to advanced one lvl/skill, and having to put up with the power gamers that do nothing but play so they will always be better than you. - Bunny is not currently here. He is on a SpecOps mission to kill the leader of a small third world country, the first step on the road to world domination. |

or an ingame queue slot at stations, renewable every 5 days, if you're training a bunch of short skills you need multiple slots but if you're on long skills you only need 1...
that way you could go away for up to 10 days
the requirements: 100k per cycle to start per cycle (5 days up or down from there accordingly), and a fresh copy of the book for each level trained...
maybe require the person to be in the station for the queueing to commence.
but whatever, it's no biggie for me as long as I have at least one skill that requires more than 12 hours to train...

Skills are not going to be queued, nor are they going to be selectable by web, it will not be possible to train two skills on 1 character for an account upgrade, nor will it be possible to train 2 skills on 1 account. All these things have been discussed long ago and rejected. The skill system is in place for a variety of reasons, ranging from immersion to exploitability prevention.
In short, any changes to the skill system that simplify training to the point that the game trains everything for you, or allows you to train more than 1 skill at a time are not going to happen.
Continu training to next level was a feature before...And it was nice... (\_/) (O.o) (> <)=Oveur (proof) "Jumping 50 systems I can like, have sex 150 times during that period" |

I've already expressed my opinion in this thread, but I just want to add to someone's argument.
Quote: In this game, time is the great equilizer. While it make take you forever to catch up with someone who has been in the game for a year, you eventually can, where as in other games, you never will, even if you try to powergame.
GOOD POINT! Add to that the fact that skills are CAPPED and you have an enviornment where a powergamer and a casual gamer can both compete on the same level. A character with 3 mil skill points can be lethal if that training is focused and purposefull. There is no other MMO like this that I know of.

So no long vacation for any of us in the forseeable future, then?
Current skill training is going to take 27 more days! How long do you go on vacation for!?!?!
Longer? Damn! You must be rich
Be lucky!
just be thankful you dont live in a country tht sends you off to war, where you are almost completly isolated from everything you once enjoyed. and FYI, when i was back home, i spent more time sleeping a day than i did in eve. I went fishing, hiking, wakeboarding and everyhing else, i love the outdoors. i also happen to like sci-fi and computers. my only conolation is to be reading the reality dsyfunction, but i dont thik thats gonna last 18 mos. who knows if eve will last that long, but i enjoy the game and want my characters to be somewhat trained for when i get leave and can play. ther not much else to do in the desert except get shot at and have haj try to blow us up with IED's
its not that i dont want to log on, its that sometimes i cant. like when we go on 6 week field ops, or that mortar round happens to hit the commo dish. thats not exactly something that happens to you others is it?
