Seriously, what have we done to ruin this game?
"Blob?" Please, people have been trying to drag more people into a fight since the server went up. I remember when a 40 vs 25 battleship fleet fight was big news on CAOD (and people cried "Blob!" then). We as an entity weren't established then.
We didn't invent the metagame, and we're not the best at it (:madprops: to GH-SC), and the devs love it. We play within the bounds of the EULA, just like everyone else. 0.0 is about playing to win. To break the long cycle of siege warfare you need to ruin the game for the enemy. That means making it so they don't want to log in, or force them to do boring things. That's all there is to it.
As for the polarized nature of EVE, that isn't our fault either. If some blowhard didn't come along stealing Chowdown's targets, things might be a lot different today.
Now, what we have done for the game is increase the visibility of EVE Online with our war and our antics (much like how the GH-SC heist brought a lot of people in) and drama causing. CCP, remember, saw an increase in subscriptions when BoB was disbanded.
We also brought a lot of newbees into this game and taught them that you don't need to be a player from 2003 to matter in this game. Titans got balanced. A dev with compromised ethics was exposed.
EVEmon started as a Goon project, is now open source and used by many players. EVE-map (Lhyda's little program) will probably go the same route.
So I ask what have we done to ruin this game? Post a lot?

Confirming that everyone in EVE is in one of two blocs in the same system in querious every day and that there is no fighting happening anywhere else at all.

I was in xetic later ascn, we where napped with bob with ascn, then they turned on us and removed ascn.
I took a break came back joined the forces fighting bob.
Pretty simple actually win or loose i enjoy every minute seing former bob not in control in Delve.

Goons are the internet incarnate. They act like, yell like, whine like, and arguably are the childish morons which, by and large, comprise the internet. They "don't care about the game" while simultaneously doing everything they can in-game to achieve objectives (alarm clock ops done by alliance who mocks everyone for taking the game seriously).
The only thing that keeps them going is the lemming-pack mentality. I'm pretty sure that if goonswarm as an entity ceased to exist tomorrow, the members of that alliance would leave the game in short order. Because nobody finds what they do to be nearly as entertaining as they do. They operate in same way that a small group of 4 teenagers does; they have a series of absolutely ******ed jokes which are insanely funny to them while completely idiotic to the rest of the planet.
In conclusion, this thread only helps them, because it justifies their ego. If their goal is to ruin the game, as they have with many others, then someone posting that they're ruining the game proves they're succeeding.

You know, oversimplifying is a very bad habit.
Goonswarm is an alliance with ~6000 members. From those ~6000 members it's always a very small minority that you judge, and within that minority the leadership and eminent members. Sure there are those anonymous morons who will communicate/repeat their leaders' crap unprocessed, though those are irrelevant to this kind of criticism.
So what you actually criticise is the decisions of x leader, or the character the leader gives to his/her alliance, and not the actual membership of the alliance.
The same goes with BoB, the attitude people hated was the leadership's attitude, and that attitude was adapted and then reflected again from the members. (anti-social/elitist/misanthrope attitude can be annoying to the ones (the majority) who don't feel this way)
All the received criticism is never directed to the 90% of the people involved in an alliance.
Hence, all you mouthpieces of your leaders you might as well shut the **** up since it doesn't concern you. It is not directed to you.

can i just point out at this juncture, that this afternoon I had almost 1.1 billion ISK of ships items and money stolen by this lot, when i was under the understanding that i was joining their corp.
somehow i wasnt quite right, and i believe "mitani" said to fail the contract to do with 750m ISK
i still dont have a clue why it was failed, what ive done wrong, could one of you "goons" please clarify this for me?

I'd like to explain. I like to think I am at least slightly responsible for why the Goons are the way they are.
When the Goons first came to Eve, they called themselves GoonFleet. In that very nascent state, still flying frigates (as were we,) their first encounter was with me. I attempted to enslave them through subterfuge. My plan was to co-opt a large online community into mining and manufacturing for me. My plan failed. It would have worked, had one of my corpmates not blabbed about my plans to the Goons. I tried doing the same thing to the Penny Arcade community, and indeed benefitted from them in many ways, before finally settling on IAC and a few others as my pet moneymaking alliances. This, I believe, contributed at least partially to the Goons adopting my willingness to scam anyone and anything for a buck.
Second time around, they were called Yulai Financial, and we demonstrated to them the effectiveness of corporate thievery and spying. We did so by stealing a relatively tiny mining fleet they left in space, and other assorted covert ****ery I forget the details of by now. YF died eventually, undeniably because of us (no matter what the wiki says) but the lesson was once again taken to heart, and the Goons adapted. They became space-dicks.
They returned in force, and all these weapons in their arsenal came to fruition in a spectacular manner with the destruction and anal puncturing of the greatest, most entrenched entity in Eve - the Band of Devs alliance. Had the Goons subscribed to your idiotic moral values, they would have fought honorably like big shiny white knights, and died. Instead, they've developed an intell network that frankly outclasses my own. Instead of waiting for "fair fights" like you would, they took every initiative to weaken and defeat the enemy.
They did this through scheming (as evidenced by the piles of whine-posts from trusting jackasses who handed over most of their assets for a chance to join Goonswarm.)
They did this through social engineering (as evidenced by their co-option and Judasification of the Band of Dicks director.)
Finally, they did it by being utter bastards. I used to hate the Goons, considering them a pack of robots parroting the same SA catchphrases over and over. But their utter bastardry - a science in which I hold a doctorate - proved to be effective enough to essentially beat the last boss of Eve.
The reason the Goons are now so successful, is the same reason I now have infinite ISK. They became utter bastards. They learned to be space-dicks. If you want to compete at the top echelon of Eve Online, you too must become a space-dick. There is no room for "GG" or "honor" at this level, there is either absolute dominion or oblivion. They accomplished the impossible - they razed Delve, they massacred the prime alliance in Eve and sent most of their directors to the psychological trauma ward, and they altered the galactic map in a way I could never dream of.
They did it by being dicks.

honestly this makes me lol, what could you need a futher half a billion for, when it is you as an organisation who has confiscated my things, unlawfully cancelling a contract that i had not breached.
aside from the fact that i wouldnt give anyone from your organisation another credit, i have no money now anyway .

Well, I started playing this game after reading the shacknews and rps articles of eve. I read what the goons did back there and realized that, gasp, a NOOB like me could do something.
After everything I read about the goons and their tactics, it seems to me that they are having a lot more fun than the rest of people.
Smack talk in local? Just ignore it like you do in the rest?
I think the goons are a good force to be ingame. You know they will be there when you want a war or something.
Keep it up with the entertainment mittani. I hope to be able to shoot you guys in a year or so ^^

Long before I was in Razor or IAC I was just a newbie in Amaar space mining the belts and doing the missions.
Back then I discovered COAD and all the fun poasts that keep me coming back for entertainment.

I for one don't care if the Devs make friends in game. But T20 and BoB's constant reference to the "batphone" only makes me want to shot lasorz into their stinking, cheating hulls. They put pressure on their friends to do things they shouldn't and compromise their jobs. Nice friends.
Nice attempt though. Can't come up with any sort of argument against my points so you just poorly try to write me off.
Start naming things that BoB did for the good of the community or form any sort of argument next time.
