was looking through escrow the other day and came across some items that were labeled as a tempest for 110mil or a 27% expander for 25mil and such - i actually had to laugh because when i looked at the description of the item - having read past forums and quite aware of the scams in escrow - well they werent those items at all. the expander was a expander 1 and the tempest i think was a civilain gatling gun or something...
so for those out there who look through escrow alot or for you new people make sure that you look at the description of the item before you buy it - otherwise your wallet will get taken for a ride and you will be reall really ****ed off. 
saddest day in EVE by far is when my sec rating went positive........*sobs* |

It would be nice if you could put sellers on a blocked list, like in chat. Clearing out all the scammers would make things easier on the eyes!

i loved one time there was a +3 intel implant for 15 mill i was damm what a steal well sure nuff it was a shuttle.
and no i didnt buy it.
i do know someone whop bought a 40m shuttle.

The sad thing is, it can't actually be noobs that fall for these scams. When was the last time you saw someone new to the game with 25 million isk? By the time you begin earning that kind of cash, you should have evolved beyond your newbish roots.
The people who fall for these scams are simply careless, or absent minded, or greedy. Yes, the fact that they fell for the scam indicates that they are foolish, but that's not the same as being a new player.

You are 100% correct. One main scammer that is quite annoying is Jack O' Diamonds, or something in form. Its unbelievable how many scams I see on escrow.

Escrow scamming has increased sharply in the last few days. There was one guy with 3 characters putting up loads of scams, now he has 6 and is putting up even more.
I can tell it is likely the same person because he always does similar items and uses similar fakes. I'm fairly certain he is responsible for 80-90% of all escrow scams. I'd be suprised if he makes 1/10th of what he could with real trading.
Everyone says "scamming is a part of RL so it adds to the game" well punishment for scams is a part of RL too. We have laws that punish people who try and do crap like this in almost all countries. CCP needs to officially make market scamming a bannable offense, and at the very least we need to all make an effort to pod scammers, I put them on my friends list and keep an eye out for them.

block LIKE chat? Why not combine it - when you blocked in chat you also block their escrows from you view. And I tend to buy fairly low-value items from escrow, shrug.

I really don't care if people scam. Caveat Emptor and all that. What really winds me up though, is the fact that Escrow becomes virtually useless when it's clogged up with dozens of uninspired, unimaginative, lame scams. Yep, the ability to filter out certain sellers would make life a whole lot easier.

The last time i saw someone who was an utter noob with 25+ million isk was that time when i met a guy with an account that he had bought..

i have known people who have acquired there characters either by buying the account or taking it over from a friend who played. either way eventhough the character is not new the person playing is so they can be just as ignorant as someone who just created a character and has never played before.
personally i think it sad that people have to put stuff like that in escrow - doesnt make me think they are very honest outside the game either - but there will always be one who does. just watch what you buy and always check the description before you buy it...only way atm to combat it

I agree that escrow scammers are a pain, and I /agree with the idea of being able to ignore repeat offenders on scams. However, that being said, I also say that the fault also lies with the buyer. Would you go into a store and purchase an item blindly for lots of cash without checking it out first? Heck, when I went to buy a new TV, I spent 2 days shopping around looking at style, features, and price. I didn't blindly rush in and buy the first thing I saw. A little care and consideration on the part of the buyer will go a long way to lessening the impact of scams.
