I loved the +4 Intel implant I saw on escrow. Had to check and see what it really was, and if I remember correctly, was a single piece of Tritanium.
I guess it is at least creative scamming

only problem with these "scams" is that they are annoying. fail to see why one GM couldnŠt go through the escrow list some times during the day when he got spare time and just remove those items from the list. Even better would be to block that player from setting up more escrows for a period of time and if he/she does it again then ban that ability.

/agree - Bunny is not currently here. He is on a SpecOps mission to kill the leader of a small third world country, the first step on the road to world domination. |

Agreed, or have a system that records the item being escrowed, the amount paid and if say someone setups up an escrow for a TEMPEST for 120mils and it is 1pc Tritanium, the system records the transaction and compares the title with the items sold, then automatically gives you the last known location of the scammer and a allotted time to go and kick their butts!
Don't discourage PVP, encourage it! I will setup the old judge from the PEOPLES COURT to make the judgement calls! If someone rips you off, take matters into your own hands and pod em!

Hehe, I think I saw this very same escrow a couple of days ago... I think it was even Yulai. I made a mental note to write the person's name down, which of course I forgot the next second, when I found the BPC I was looking for.
Can we have (or is there) a thread where we can collect the names / locations / etc. of escrow scammers? Something in the following format:
Escr0wScmmr - Yulai X DED Plant - September 8, 2004 16:26 EVT - Rifter instead of Jaguar for 12.5M Escr0wScmmr - Yulai X DED Plant - September 8, 2004 16:27 EVT - 2100 tritanium instead of 2100 zydrine for 10M
There could be a mechanism where people can add their name to second the accusation, if they saw the same scam. I do not believe in anonymous cowards reporting on people. (OOC note: Having grown up in a former Communist country and having had family members denounced by unnamed strangers for crimes they did not commit does this to me).
If the scammer retracts the escrow as a result, so much better. If he has to repost 10 scams in different systems under different names, he will soon find out there is way too much work involved.
Comments?

Very good ideas also Gwarnina, and I do agree that this system would have to have a failsafe, otherwise it will being getting exploited to high heaven and back! I still say after the system has flagged you as a SCAMMER, that you should get an insta message from an ingame agent and be allotted time to go pod em'!!!!

Im looking for a megathron bpc and had no idea of prices and found must have been 50 for sale for 1 billion. I had to do a doubletake cuz I thought it was 1 million.
1 billion? Eegads.
One easy fix would be the description field you enter shows as a separate field but you shouldnt be able to change the main name. Like this
Name (Name on item, not changable).....Lister Description =============================================================== Megathron Blueprint copy - 1...................ME 20

The solution is quite simple: Let us SEE the item in the escrow list, all scams instantly come to a halt.
Personally, the thing that really shocks me is this- I don't think these people are making jack on these scams, these lame noobs are completely wasting their time. The ONLY thing that makes them think they can make money at is is that they see others putting up scams, but not knowing neither of them are making a penny. Even if you don't inspect the escrow, there is STILL the name of the item in the confirmation box. I seriously wouldn't be at all suprised if all of these people are wasting hundreds, no thousands, of hours and not making a single isk!
Escrow scamming really bugs me, because I constantly have to think "oh nice, good deal!" followed shortly by "wow, another escrow scam" I swear to god, every single tech2 BPO for sale on escrow is 100% guarannteed it is a really a tech 1 BPO, if not something more worthless!
Sorry I just had to rant

I've heard that Escrow is changing with Shiva (or possibly SOONÖ). I certainly hope that the main changes are aimed at elminating scammers. All that is needed is to remove the ability to create your own description for single items. You place an item on Escrow, and its in-game description shows up as the Escrow description, with the quantity in the next column.
