Was out with the militia killing everyone earlier.
This guy whose ship we popped was next to the gate in his pod and apparently he jumped when we tried to lock him.
But his pod was still there, flashing away, invulnerable to lock as what tends to happen in lag or desyncs.
All the people in our fleet could see this pod but the funny thing was it wasn't disapearing after time, we decided it was a glitch and we all moved on.
We went fighting, killed a few guys, lost a few guys and we all came back the same way about 40 minutes later, pod still there on the gate flashing away, invulnerable to lock.
We all kept laughing our ass off about it.
Funny little glitch.

There was a "ghost pod" in a highsec belt in a backdoor system i visit for probing. I found it somewhat hilarous and convo'd the owner to find out how on earth he was podded in highsec in a noobcorp.
He didnt know you had to turn self destruct off.

Would this be related by chance to the story I heard the other day some guy said he found an empty pod in a belt somewhere and actually managed to board it?

I dont think so, i have several pods in my corporate hangar :)
Ghost ships are pretty old glitch, i have seen this years ago with some ships staying until next dt.

Nah. These ones you cannot board, i guess thats whats classified as a "Zombie Entity" 
They're just inanimate, soul-less, (innocent?) little objects that randomly dissapear after a few downtimes i find.

We lost one of our ships on the border of enemy militia highsec too while we were out, seeing as CCP still didn't fix the gate jump stuttering problem.
Thing was I wasn't sure whether to believe him at the time, but since I've got it again myself only a few moments ago I realised he was right.
