I think that right now, as things stand, there needs to be some MAJOR rebalancing between all the ships. It must be often that I log into the forums and see the same old threads over and over again. Instead of jumping into the "please use the search function" bandwagon. I have decided to propose the changes I think need to be made so people will no longer have to worry about which is best. Incidentally, it will also save Merin from having to tax her fingers at a keyboard to drive home a point which will be ignored either way.
Shuttles:
As things stand now, shuttles need a hefty revision made to them. For one, they should be given:
-2 high slots
-1 mid slot
-2 low slots
I propose that they are allowed to have a 99.999 percent reduction in CPU and grid cost for equipping Doomsday devices. A change of course will have to be made to the allowance of Doomsdays in hi-sec, but this is for balance and general player satisfaction.
All T1 Frigates:
Should be exactly the same, namely missiles. Also give players a way to change the colors and customize the ships. I mean, who doesn't want a hot pink Vigil? I DO!
All T1 cruisers-Battlecruisers:
The only thing that should change here is to only give bonuses for lasers to all the ships in said class. This way everyone can use pulses (as many tend to want to) and have stellar tracking. What about damage type you say? Surely... I wouldn't leave you out in the dark!
I propose that similar to how the subsystems work on T3 cruisers, you can train to use a certain damage type within your lasers. They could be called:
Advanced Kinetic Damage Implementation: Allows the use of user installed kinetic damage within WTFPWNBBQ pulse lasers. Cannot be trained on trial accounts. (BBQ not included)
etc etc. You get the idea. All existing weapon systems for cruisers and battlecruisers are null and void.
Battleships!:
ALL Battleships receive bonuses for split weapon systems. Incidentally, all battleships receive bonuses for the exact same thing, whatever CCP decides. This will accomplish two things:
-Minny players no longer have to be the only ones playing the game on 'Hard Mode'
-Players really CAN train for the ships they think look the best with no worry about "I like this ship a lot, but should I skill for it?"
Coupled with the trainable option for applying a pink skin to your ship, and I think we have a winning deal here.
*Note: Only frigates have the free option of palette swaps. Battleships do not. This is because battleships should be more skill intensive to train up for to prevent people from trying to get into them too early without the appropriate customization skills..Not many nubs are willing to take their red and black mega into low sec...
This is just the tip of the iceberg guys. I will task some other noble soul with figuring out solutions for Commandships, Black Ops, Carriers, etc.

Shuttles DO need some slots but for now im happy to redock in a pod and get a rookie ship.
There should be SOME customization options available to ships. Or at the least the ability to make mods besides turrets change the look of the ship.
