I remember this one time I was tanking some spawns, and had my armor hardeners turned on, and my armor repair turned on, and was just sitting their with my ogre II's killing everything, chillaxin. man that was some good times.

hey hey
my first level 4.
old school mordus and just got my tempest. warped to the mission and pew pew. on the last spawn i got ass wiped by the mammoth.
my corp at the time helped me sort out anew tempest (they were real expensive then) and i asked the vets at the time for some advice and redid the mission. and completed it.
__
I did a COSMOS plex when they first hit TQ and it was cruiser restricted. took me forever to find the key and then someone warped in with me :/ luckily they were friendly and i tanked some nasty nasty ships in there with a 650m fleet stabber.
__
all my "firsts" make me smile in some way.

cool story bro, reminds me of the time I was tanking a hell spawn when the indicated flashed 0 for cap, I almost spilled my soup all over my lap, haha. Oh the memories of me and my boys just chatting on vent while running missions talking about how much better rich peoples lives are then ours, and how much we wanna stick em for the cash, and peace out.
You know some real felon arse shattrah for realz in har.

This goes back a few years when level 4's were relatively new. I had a Sansha Blockade mission. This was back it spawned right outside the station. The last wave produced a True Sansha spawn. I remember going "Holy Sh*t" as I AB'd up on top of him, Apoc w/ megapulse blasting away, watching out for potential ninjas. He dropped a TS Large Armor Rep and a couple of other resistance mods.
Note: back then faction stuff was just coming out and TS reps were best in game. Think it went for 300 mil.

So there I was in my cerberus, partner in his basilisk keeping me alive. We'd been doing the Caldari Cosmos missions in Tenal for a couple weekends now, but we hadn't done this mission. While the agents are lvl 4, the missions are on par with lvl 5 missions in terms of damage output, minus the neut towers (woot). However, they are guristas, so jamming galore!
Anyway, I'm getting hit by about 30-40 gurista BS and being repped no problem by my basilisk buddy, easily maintaining 100% shields. I am taking them down one by one. As we approach 20 BS or so, about 5-6 jamming cruisers come into play. That ain't so bad; not permajammed at the very least. So I swap targets and start on one of them. He pops after a few volleys...And then another spawn of about 7-8 jamming cruisers comes in. Now comes the permajam.
So I'm permajammed. Warp out and come back right? Nope. Damn warp scrambling frigates came with that second wave of cruisers. Luckily I got all aggro so the basilisk was safe, but now I was stuck there and subsequently my loyal basilisk pilot was too as he was sustaining me. Too embarrassed to ask for help in corp/alliance, we sat for nearly an hour, begging each passerby for help to take out the cruisers (funnily enough most the pilots that came through were cov ops just passing by, welp).
We did the mission again a week later and that time my buddy loaded a flight of drones and I brought FoF missiles. Lesson learned: guristas suck.

Running Lvl 4 in my 1st week of being able to do so. Flying BS I couldn't afford to replace, getting out gunned and leaking into Hull. Just killing enough rats for my armor reps to attempt hull tank when a corpie logs in one jump out. I was screaming on TS for assistance and he flew into the mission in an Apoc with underpants on the outside and red cape trailing behind him. Hull hit 48% that day. Made sure I used the survival guides after that.

Edited by: Emerhyz on 01/06/2009 14:10:50 I think it was my 2nd or 3rd mission ever done. Level 1 "Lights Out." It was probably the first time the mission was in EVE too! (About 6 months ago). I flew in with my little Kestrel and read something on the Overview;
tough_tower_good_loot_
I was like...huh? So I started shooting it...and it was tough. I contacted my friend who got me into eve and he was like...huh?
After we shot it down, cargo container ftw! It was filled with a 12tier overseer (10mil isk) and about 2500-5000 Robotics (20mil isk+).
My little Kestrel hualed off the 12tier overseer, but the rest of the cargo was taken in my buddies Ore ship.
Ah, those were the days.
P.S. Lights out have been nerfed, it drops nothing now. The tower is now;

Rigs screwed balance on missions tbh, specially on lvl 4. Running a mission with a non-rigged bs is more of a challenge, try it.

lvl5 in lowsec (got greedy), speedtanking something in the area of 35 gallente bs, heart pumping from both the idea what would happen if all those bs got in optimal and what would happen if I got scanned down. checking local and DScan every 5seconds, spike in local, more ships on DScan, holding my breath.. Then it happens, 2 blinkies warp in at 150km (thanks to drifting away from the gate for an odd 40min), honestly can't remember ship type. Warp and dock at station (risky but at least multiple stations in system) safe and sound. Take a break for 2h and undock in an shuttle to scout a bit and sure enough scrammed before I have a chance to warp (maybe I'm slow), escape in my pod and wait for a whole day before picking the ship up.
It was the best of missions because: -It was one of my first lvl5's (and the last one in lowsec..) and a pretty hard one at that. -The risk involved was huge, The "don't fly what you can't afford to lose" rule was ignored, most of my assets where in one single ship (t2 rigs and faction fit for the most part) -I avoided the disaster.

The very first and very last missions I ever did were the best. The first because everything was new and shiny; the last because I knew I would never do missions again (that was a little over 2 years ago). ~ Santiago Fahahrri Galactic Geographic |

I had a corp mate who was running some lvl4 mission and asked for some help because he could barely stay in the mission long enough to kill one of the rats. I was still in small ships at the time, and arrived in a condor and proceeded to fly around drawing fire away from him. Eventually that condor died.
I came back in an Ibis, flew around, drew aggro, did a little better, died again.
3rd time I came back and it was only big ships which were having a hard time hitting me while my friend ground them down. So I was just zipping around with a civillian afterburner, the nearest a rookie could get to a nano-tank.
And while they can't hit me, I can't do any real damage, but... those veldspar rocks, well I'm a pretty good miner.....
So, for the rest of the mission I'm pulling the heat off my friend and mining rocks in a rookie ship, while being fired at by battleship rats. I dropped Jetcans as quickly as I could make them, every now and then I'd get blown up and come back in another rookie ship and mine more.

I once fell asleep on my keyboard during a mission. I dreamt I was pvping. I woke up and found my drones had finished the mission. That is the most fun I have ever had during a mission.

This one time, at level 4 band camp, when i was a noob, i flew into a level 4 with the wrong hardeners and using lasers against angels in my apoc, i got my ass handed to me and my ship was in flames, i warped out at low structure and when i docked there was no repair centre and i couldnt undock because my ship was too damaged.
Good times

The last time I pulled a level 5 mission that I couldn't find a FAQ on. It kinda makes me wish spawns and triggers were more random, because you get a rush doing a mission not knowing if the next ship you destroy is going to lead to disaster or not.

I've been there, usually wielding the SB of corpmate death...
As for greatest memory, probably "distance" tanking 10 Gallente BS in an active tanked Nighthawk with the booster turned off and watching my shields hold at 95%. I'm guessing the faction boats are blasterboats on that mission, since they couldn't hit me at 30-40km...

Missions (especially L4) were a lot more fun before they were nerfed to all hell. WC used to have the rats respawn on you pretty fast. Rogue Drone Harassment used to have Supreme Drone Parasites that hit for tons of damage. Mission rats used to drop as much loot as belt rats. Pre-deadspace missions used to be interesting, and The Blockade used to spawn at a stargate.

I'd also say my first L4. I took a Drake, and while I have ample passive shield tanking skills, my missile damage is rather low. I thought I'd be slick and change to 6 heavy missiles and a salvager/tractor in the remaining highs. After my drones were already destroyed, and my heavies being unable to hit the multiple Dramiels scrambling me, I finally lost that ship. It took me too long to rebuild it and I lost the fittings that survived at well. I learned from it and changed to a 5 heavy missiles, 2 assault (light), and a salvager setup completely successfully from there. Also a spare identical ship is at my home base. |

Cosmos when it first dropped and then, The level 5s when it first started (attemped to solo) ad to warp out and decline mission.
But the most fun was Worlds collide in the CNR when i first bought it for 980 mil and fitted it out (machs were only 450 then if you can believe it) The last room I came in side ways, and argoed the whole room. I got out with 12% structure but it was as exciting as a pvp gang on gang where you are about equally matched.
