So after seeing Terminator - Salvation some friends and I were discussing what movie sequels have disappointed us the most. So I am opening it up to the EVE community.
Our top three sequel disappointments are:
1) Star Wars IV - A New Poop. Main Reasoning: Jar Jar Binks (I don't think I need to say much more, oh wait, wait for it . . . ) Baby Anaken Skywalker (lame). Umm and Darth Maul is on every poster before the movie, but only has one fight scene in the whole movie - come on! (Don't get me wrong - it was an amazing scene).
2) The Matrix - Reloaded. Main Reasoning: Umm, it was lame. Horrible animation of hundreds of agent Smiths, non-sequitur plot, and well I don't even remember why I was so disappointed, which says a lot.
3) Terminator - Salvation. Main Reasoning: Horrible story-line and a computer that thinks illogically - SkyNet. For explanation look at my post here - Terminator - Salivation and Drool
This is the order in which I was disappointed with these movies. I had less expectations of Terminator and thus I was less disappointed, but disappointed none the less. I think I used lame about thirteen too many times in this post. Let me know what you all think! --- Am I being targeted, wait, ahh, my shields, s**t my armor. Why won't it warp, it's not responding. Warp to zero! Damn it my pod too?!? F*****g lag! [lesson learned: log for lag] |

Haven't seen 3) but you're spot on for 1) and 2). In fact I can't come up with any bigger disappointing sequels.
Wait actually I can. Not that I've watched it (I haven't).

starship troopers 2 and 3, they were so bad it was embarrassing to watch.
war of the worlds (the 80's B movie was better than the new one, dakota whatsherface should go die in a fire and never act again, the whole cast was unlikable)
the second resident evil film, was bad cant remember any more

Well, for that movie sequel to disappoint me, and I haven't seen it either, it would have to have no comedy, no big giant bugs, and no one shooting the bugs. I don't see how this could really disappoint as there isn't that much to live up to, no? --- Am I being targeted, wait, ahh, my shields, s**t my armor. Why won't it warp, it's not responding. Warp to zero! Damn it my pod too?!? F*****g lag! [lesson learned: log for lag] |

Biggest disappointment must be Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom or perhaps Godfather 3.
These aren't exactly crappy films, but they where really disappointing, when compared to the previous film(s).
Hellboy II: The Golden Army was a more recent letdown for me..

Borg confused/annoy me in star trek.
They have thousands of cubes. But they always send a single one to federation. Every time.
And then in first contact they are getting sick of losing so they send... a single cube... but with a sphere inside with the borg queen and a time travelling device. Surely its easier to just send 2 cubes and not risk the queen? Heck just send 10 cubes and destroy the klingons while your at it.

It's Star Wars I: The Phantom Menace you're talking about I believe.
I might be missing some humour though. -

Indiana and the crystal skull. Aliens? It a godforsaken Indi film for crying out loud!
All star wars films/cartoons to come out after return of the jedi.
Starship troopers 2 and 3. So bad I want to kill the directors.
Aliens 3. Aliens 2 was the best of the lot for me.
American pie the wedding. The first was great, the second realy set the milestone, the third? Dissapointing.

Starship Troopers 2 definitely takes the cake for me (I'm that freak that thought 3rd was somewhat decent)
-also, Terminator 3 (haven't seen the last one yet, but it can't be worse than 3rd.. right?... right?) -all two Jurassic Parks after the first... just meh -Mask 2 (aka The Son of Mask), wth? I actually liked the first one!
more than sure that there are tons more but can't think of any right now

Ummmm...
You SOOOO have your movies mixxed up. Star Wars IV: A New Hope...is the ORIGINAL SW movie, staring Mark Hamil, Carrie Fisher, and Harrison Ford. What you describe is Episode 1: The Phamtom Menace...which I agree wasn't all that great, however it is not even a 'sequel'. |

Temple of Doom was my favorite Indiana Jones so I'm gonna have to disagree there. I am recommending Spiderman 2 and 3 for crap status although I didn't think the first one was that good either. Also Ghostbusters 2 was awesome imo. |

I do believe that Starship Troopers 2 takes the win on this one. Made on a budget of 20 dollars and a packet of pork scratchings. I mean the only decent special effects were during the "flashbacks" to the first film ( so there went 10 dollars of the budget to go buy the DVD to copy from ). The gunfire effects were epic......an LED on the end of the barrel. The guy that decided to sully the good name of Starship Troopers deserves to have his scr0tum pulled up over his head. |

Why mention Batman, when it's blatantly obvious that Starship Troopers 2 is the worst sequel film we are looking for.

To be honest I didn't think they could do much worse than Star Wars Episode I....
Then I saw Episodes II & III. /starts sobbing
These two abominations set a whole new milestone in the annuls of FAIL. The extremely forced banter in Episode II was outdone only by the appalling geyser of **** that was the dialogue in Episode III - the "You're so beautiful" scene makes me actually want to gouge my eardrums out with a pencil.
Ian McDiarmid was the sole saving grace of those films and even he had some really awful dialogue to work with at times.
/rant mode cancelled.
