This isn't a titan whine thread: they're very big, expensive toys and their power should reflect the risk that goes into building and flying them.
What I would like changed about the titan isn't so much their role as a "flying bomb," but the method their damage is delivered. Instead of the doomsday going off in spectacular fashion followed by 46,000 hp leveled across the grid, it would be more interesting if the damage was spread out in "waves" as the doomsday went off.
8 waves of damage, at approx 5,700hp each - quickly. There would be enough space between the waves where a fast acting cruiser pilot with high nav could warp without getting leveled with a second wave, but unlikely a battleship pilot could escape without receiving the weapons full damage
The doomsday animation may need to be adjusted a touch to allow for something like this though.

I'd rather see DD's simply reduce the HP of everything on the field by 75% - or something. This would make the # of DD's largely irrelevant if the DD'ing side doesn't have a suitable fleet to mop of the DD victims with.

the other possibility is to make the DD do massive damage. say, 500,000 damage, but spread over to total number of ships on the field.
so if you have 500 cruisers on the field, they will all receive 1000 damage each, but if you have 1 dread, it will take the full 500,000 in one hit.

I hate to see people missing the point so embarrassingly.
There is no force for nerfing game features so strong as the EVE forum. Why , o why, is that?
It's a DOOMSDAY device. A device that bringeth doom. The info of a Titan quotes scripture to describe how absolutely bad donkey the Titan is.
Then the DD has to come in waves? It's a massage parlor now? I think they're not strong enough even. They should deliver at least twice the damage. We need more imagination as to how to tackle these and a larger range of tactical/strategic options. But these tired, unimaginative "solutions" to how a massive ship's weapons systems ought to work, can we please not do that?
I appreciate EVE may be too hard for you. I'm not happy with losing ships, and I've lost some, I've been greatly annoyed and inconvenienced by it. That's the way it works. You don't have to like it, you don't have to accept how it works. It's not a game for everyone. How about a nice game of World of Warcraft? Would that suit your play style better? You get to dance!
I just invented a way to take down Titans :). I'll tell you what it is when I have my own. It's so simple and elegant that you won't have found it by the time I get there (and I'm nowhere close).
Why do they give such a beautiful, fabulous game to people who don't understand it? You're the kind of people who would complain about the power of the queen if you played chess.

The way the effect is rendered leads more credence to hundreds of micro-explosions rather than one annihilation blow. Admittingly this opens up the slim possibility of som support surviving a doomsday rather than the precluded fleet-wide certain death scheme we have now, but that's the point.
~10% of enemy support survive a titan doomsday should be satisfactory, as you still obliterated 90% of their logistics. Emphasis on killing support, as that is the titan's current specialization.
The rest of your post was trollish so I'll leave it there.

It would create environmental distortions on the battlefield, similar to what we see in certain types of wormhole space, but for a limited duration?

Edited by: Alxea on 04/06/2009 08:56:02 T2 crusiers can already survive DD's if buffer tanked such as HAC's. HIC's can be double DD'ed and survive.
I think its just you don't want to adapt to blob warfare or are sick of being DD'ed to death because you refuse to put a tank on your crusier. A capable BS fleet can take down a titan in mins. They need a boost to survivability more then a nerf to the most powerful weapon in the game.
It sound's like to me is you just want it as effective as a smart bomb. Thats not going to happen when they are pretty fragile for a city in space in the 1st place. I have seen it happen. Ex BoB right here.

Something I think would be cool but likely not very feasible is to have line of sight affect weapons like this (smartbombs, doomsdays).
I understand there are performance issues as well as tactic issues that don't necessarily make this very viable but purely conceptually speaking it seems to me that a smaller ship should be able to hide behind a larger one and avoid the pulse. Or you could have it so larger ships can set up to occlude exposed structures in a POS. Just thinking aloud, like I said - I'm sure there are reasons this wouldn't be a good fit.
