Anyone got a useable Tempest npc setup? For killing bs and cruiser rats?
Maybe self-improvement isn't the answer.... Maybe self-destruction is the answer |

2 hardners 1 xl booster 1 tracking comp/ or the one module that give 30% extra/boost with the shield booster 1 cap rescharger
3 damage mod 3 powerdiagnostic
The 1400 is broken as they are now. Cant hit a station if you wanted to.

Also if you like sweat & blood ;)
6*425mm 2* heavy nosferatu 1*MWD 1*tracking comp II 3*cap rechargers II 2*large armor repair or 1*large and 1*medium tech II 1*explosive armor hardener 1*kinetic armor hardener 2*capa power relay 1*damage mod
Array of drones for fast-moving targets.
Seems to work all right, though you have to be careful. I'd also recommend decent skills in engineering :)

Thanks guys. My engineering skills are lacking, but will try the 1200mm guns to start with!

This works, but might take pretty high skill levels, I dunno.. 6x800mm, 2xSiege MWD, Webber, 3xCapRechargerII LargeArmorRep,3xHardeners, 2xDamageMod
And before the usual constructive "That sucks, you will run out of cap, blah blah": Yes, it's true, it can't sustain the tank, but the main defense here is destructive power. You're supposed to kill them quick.
Tactics? Well, I've only used it against Serpentis, and most of them get close, too close for them guns. But the great falloff, for close range weapons, means you have a viable window between 10-20km (BS targets down to 2km) or so, and enough damage so that you won't have to spend much cap on MWDrangekeeping. One burst is usually enough, if at all needed.. Frig swarms are a bit bothersome, but a dual torp hit kills most varieties, and a mix of medium/heavy drones can finish the rest. The webber is a great help here.
Maybe not the best, but the poster wanted a usable setup, and this definitely is.

Quintus, you forgot to mention the need for a corpmate in an indy parked around a planet in the same system carrying spare ammo for those 800mm!!! Good guns when used at the right range but they chew through ammo. I use 4 on my Typhoon for missions but wouldn't want to stray too far from a station if I was using them. For 0.0 rat hunting it's often better to use 1200mm just to keep the ammo needs manageable.

Edited by: Shocky on 13/09/2004 15:09:16 6x800mm/2xCruise or siege 3xCapII/webber/MWD 3xcap relay/1x Large Repairer/2xHardners
Of course if you think you need more add an extra repairer or handner but it won't tank for very long.

Siddy's right, get Mega Pulses + armor tanking. Fill your medslots with cap rechargers. Viola.
