I was not abused and we all were picked on by someone. -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

No you made the thread about "you" when your opinion was shown as incomplete.
You want to know why swimming is one of the slowest ways to loose weight for beginners? Well I will tell you anyway.
You are in a horizontal position and therefore the body does not have to fight gravity to get the blood back to the heart; therfore decreasing the actuall mechanical demand on the body. You would have been better to suggest higher intensity water aerobics then swimming.
The reason that competitive swimmers burn so many calories is that they swim @ 8 miles in just over an hour. The individual that is just starting to work out will not loose enough weight from swimming to psychologically progress in the behavior change. They will be lucky to swim 500m. They would expend more calories in the long run walking around a track for the same amount of time for the first few months of working out.
So please unless you understand human physiology, energy production, and energy consumption stop making reccomendations. As you pointed out the field of exercise has been evolving for the past 50 years, technically even more, and you are not evn close to being on the tip of the research.

What is your point? You did not even read the OP's second comment. Now you go on about how swimming is bad. Do you still want him to lift weights? |

LMAO - possibly the most worthwhile comment in this entire thread. |
