It was a quite sunny day, I had gotten to work around 9am and before starting doing what I was supposed to do I flipped open the latest issue of some gaming magazine. I was greeted by this nice big review of a game called EVE Online: The second genesis.
Looking at the screenshots I thought, hey wait a minute, could this be?! My very much loved successor to the wikid awesome game Elite?
Continuing reading and looking the urge to simply must have grew stronger. Wishing lunch break was earlier time passed slowly until finally it was time for lunch. Or lunch you say, hell no! Screw lunch I need to head downtown.
Arriving at +hlens Skanstull I made my way though towards the gamining section, pushing mother with babies and their perambulator aside, let me through I yelled (well not really but it would have made sense looking at the current addiction to the game  ).
Browsing through the various sections in hunt for the loved original cover a few minutes passed and finally the red/yellowish box was in my hands. Quickly heading to the counter and get away from the screaming babies  I made my way back to work without lunch, but with something even better in my possession.
Going through the now really up-to-date instruction book, the possibilities and carreers in the game seemed endless, just like Elite itself! This ought to be good I thought. Just need to wait until I get home to try this!
Finally, around 17 that evenning EVE Online: The second genesis, was installed and ready to be launched on my computer at home. Starting it up watching the nice Castor login, the pulse was rising.
Three empty slots were presented, right you need to create a character... 2 min later and a few clicks on the random buttons and I was born - without a clue.
Loaded into space in a Reaper I was immediatly thrown into a training area, a training drone orbiting me showing me some messages on how to lock the little roid floating nearby. As I learned how to lock it, the training drone explains to me how to turn on my mining lasers - I was hooked.
June 10th, 2003, a day I remember well as I turn six years today. Thank you everyone, and thank you CCP for making a great game. I hope to be able to spend at least another six years in your company and virtual world.

So... I'm doing my usual station-trading in Amarr when all of a sudden Chribba himself shows up. It was my first time ever seeing him, but I knew who he was and I already read this thread. He askes,
"100m to the first person who guesses what today is"
Obviously, I knew this - I answered it was his birthday, I was the first line right after that question, so I got 100m!
Then he went on to ask about some music questions... and then after that event was over, I asked for 60m more so I could reach my peak of 1 billion ISK - he did give it to me!
He did not disclose any information on how much SP he had, so...

I remember reading the up-to-date book on the drive home (I was 17 then and there are no close gaming stores)... I choose my character carefully and after a week decided it was rubbish and created Soren.
I suppose i don't quite have your... problem... but here i am :O

I'm really surprised they had EVE in the store then tbh, it's always been a bit limited amount of products there. 
Used to live 1 mins walk from it, but I always head eastbound five mins walk to buy my food. If I needed other groceries, or my deodorant or whatever, I had to go to NK or +hlTns at T-Centralen. 
+hlTns Skanstull FTL. But they slightly revived themselves in my eyes now, having had the first early EVE box in is pretty remarkable. Plus, it's still in Bajen-land so, things could definately be worse.
