let the ships warp a couple million kilometers away upon logoff, but please let em remain in space so there is risk to it.
so if your internet goes down for 24 hours and you lose a ship because you couldnt log back on and move?
and if you get stuck and for some reason dont warp and ur ship is stuck on the gate youd be happy about that as well?
i know i wouldnt
I did add that making logged off or disconnected players warp to a random direction for say 1 au, or even 20 au would be fine with me. Random direction = extremely hard to find even when you have em on scanner. Since the chance of having a warpable object anywhere near the direction of that ship is pretty damn neglible.
That means the likelyhood of you being found inside of a few hours is mall anyway. Making it too small would negate the effect of this measure however, so I guess being offline 24 hours could very well mean a lost ship yes.
It's not that big a deal is it ?
What about an automatic warpoff to 10mill km, random direction, but having these ship be unboardable ? It would mean you get your insurance payout if they find it.
The ideal behind it is to enable some control over a portion of space. Being able to remove unwanted people from it is a key issue in that imo.

ships should be fully persistent at all times.
end of story.
to do anything else = borking the game for those that are actually playing it, in favour of those who aren't |

hehe might be a joke but it is very very real.
CA is some of the people using log "tactics" constantly if outnumbered or just plain hunted.

I never use log off tactics but I am constantly logged off because the client crashes. I try to immediately come back but there have been times when the client keeps on crashing or the area is super super slow so I just give up and come back to it later. Should I be penalized for that?
I think that logged off ships should disappear, but they should reappear at the exact spot they disappeared from.
The problem that the devs have is that they can't tell an intentinal log off from a client crash. If they start penalizing players for the client crashes then they will simply lose subscriptions, this one included.

Ships being persistent makes this no longer a game
"Hey I've been hunting NPCs here, 45 jumps from next station, lets get a good nights sleep and go to work"
"Ah, back from work. Lets see if I can kill some NPCs or find some players or something.... wait? I only have my pod? My 8 modulated pulses, tech 2 cap rechargers, 2x large carapace restoers etc etc are gone!" (note, I do not have 8 modulated pulse.. sadly )
Wow, that seems like a really fun scenario to come to from work?!?!?!!oneoneone!!

Its a bit ahrd to dock when you are 30+ jumps from the nearest stattion
So you have 2 hours of game time
undock fly 30+ jumps hunt then have to fly back 30+ systems to dock
Have you worked out the ammount of time you will actually be playing the game for - say 2 mins per warp jump * 60 jumps = 2 hours or total time to play.
Why should the people who have (due to kids etc) limited time to play be penalised in this way?

have you ever hunted NPC's 45 jumps from the nearest station? you dont just go "crikey, it's midnight, better turn the ship around and head back 45 jumps"

People who abuse the log off tactic should forfeit the following:
1. Remove 'show pilots in space' when they log back in.
2. Remove 'local' in 0.0 sytems when they log back in.
3. Anyone who logs off in 0.0 space is warped to a jumpgate when they reconnect.
That way a player logging off in 0.0 space is 'blinded' until he returns to a station and docks - where the above options become available once more.
This won't solve the problem of players logging off to avoid battle and save their ship but at least it'll penalize them somewhat and make it harder for them to reach safety. It'll also stop them from using the log off / log on entrapment tactics.

So what if you can't go out 45 jumps and then log off with your ship being 110% magically protected.
Kindof ironic that the people who want to take away the carebear safespots because the carebears shouldnt be totally safe going into gank regions are whining about not being able to have perfect log off spots (safespots) in their gank regions.
If your PC is crashing then fix it, if your connection sucks then get a new ISP, if you can't handle losing your ship or modules then don't fly or equip them. Simple aint it Riddari.
IMO if you want magic, you should probably play EQ 2 rather then EVE.

And if Eve is crashing because it is buggy, I should....what...get another game?
If a router on my path (not my ISP) burps should I get a new Internet backbone?
Come on. There are legitemate reasons to log off and just because people abuse it doesn't make them any less legitemate.

And if you believe these things will be used in .0 you are, well, dumb. There is currently no alliance in the game that can defend their stuff 23/7. With conquerable stations that isn't THAT big of a deal, you just recapture it when you have more people on. But with destroyable stuff it doesn't work that way. And with the fact that if a hangar is destroyed all the ships in it are "ejected" doesn't promise that it will be used, it's just to risky (remember if your ship is stolen, you dont get any insurance for example)...
I agree logging off is annoying and lame for PvP. But making ships persistant is not the awnser, since it will be disaster for PvE'ers and other non pvp professions. And if you look at the numbers the ammount of pvp'ers is actually quite low (lower then PvE'ers most likely even). If you go on a hunting trip you shouldn't be forced to dock every time you log becuase of the simple fact this will take 2 hours to accomplsih. Also if you for example get a rl interuption while traveling you should be able of "parking" your ship safely. It would suck for example if you have kids and you suddenly got some family stuff to do for a few hours, come back and find yourself in a cloning facility (remember pods are ships as well, and wont dissapear then).
Anyways as much as I would like it for pvp, just as instant safespot bashing and no more insta docks it just adds to many disadvantages IMHO. -------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

You are still clueless
Now, leaving all the "get better and more expensive stuff so you can afford to play against me" argument aside, please re-read the bolded paragraph and point to where I was "whining" about what says there.
I think you never answered me on your little topic, so I'm not expecting an answer here either.
