Am i the only person who thinks this is getting rather old? Or are the "kid/younger" players of CA loving the fact they can shoot stuff without it shooting back.
I realise we are at war with CA but surely even they must see how dishonourable it is to shoot an unarmed man in the back.. IsnÆt it just cowardice?
Im talking of course about the mining op's in omist and the continued attacks upon them, i don't personally see the strategic value on attacking these ops which would tell me only one thing, people are looking for easy gibs?
Im in emp researching myself so it doesn't effect me directly & i have no doubt i'm going to get torpedoed for starting this thread but im curious to hear what people have to say about the situation

Not to be rude or anything, but taking out your enemies resources and supply-lines (and keeping your own intact) is the key to winning a war.
So striking enemy miners would indeed be a very strategic move...not an act of cowardice...
I suggest you read up on some strategy. Germany against russia in world war II is a good one to begin with, although the russians used "the burned soil tactics", meaning they left nothing behind when they retreated for the Germans to use. And getting no supplies from "home", needless to say, germany didn't conquer russia, but lost a whole lot of men there.
...and with the light all life vanished... |

Not a strategic advantage when it comes to many omist corps, most miners down here are dedicated to just that.. Needless to say due to the appending Shiva release we are not short of cash and are/will be prepared for a long time to come before needing to find further resources.
I completely understand the principle and i understand about tactics involved, but this is an extremely different situation.
Also the attacks themselves are random and it would seem on occasions very un-organised, that would not say strategy to me?

Edited by: Jonathan Wark on 16/09/2004 19:55:16 Well, and mind you IÆm no CA supporter, I would have to say to you that if this is the case you are not taking advantage of the situation and CA is. If youÆre upset that you have a lot of ôNon combatö people getting ganked perhaps you should have thought about that before getting into a war. You are at war, they take out your ships when they find them, simple as that. If you took the time to think about this you could find a tactical advantage.
By your own admission these groups attacking mining operations are small and unorganized. DonÆt you think it would be worth while to keep some war ships in close proximity to your mining OPÆs? A few unorganized CA marauders would be no match for a well organized assault, especially if they didnÆt see you coming. You donÆt like whatÆs happening I suggest changing your tactics. You got into the war I suggest you fight it not complain about it.
The CA tactics are actually pretty darn smart if you ask me. Hit and run, take out easy targets, annoy your group until you either take action to stop them, or ask for peace.

Edited by: Syncros on 16/09/2004 20:27:04 Mining ops do involve hauling across multiple systems, although escorts are a possibility i do not believe it to be a necessary and appropriate use of resources..
I'm not going to ***** any longer anyway as im not effected and it's not in my jurisdiction, but i kept hearing about various attacks that are happening and was curious as to what others had to say, i personally don't see how ca playing "shadow games" (logging on/off constantly & "hit & running") is of any tactical advantage what so ever as ships & resources are quickly replaced . If anyone could experience what is happening down here i'm sure you would share the same views. Sorry if people think im being ignorant but it's only my opinion

Well you asked for opinions. I not only gave you an opinion but also an option to turn this to your tactical advantage. If you do not choose to use your resources to take advantage of the situation thatÆs completely up to you.
Now you also did not mention anything, until now, about them logging off and then back on. While I am unclear exactly what this ôLogging on and offö is, it sounds like the tactic of a coward. Hit and run however is a viable and time honored tactic, where a small strike force goes into enemy space hits a target and then high tails it back to their own region of control before overwhelming odds turn against them.

Lad, like the others, i'll say afew points to you.
We're at war.
You are the enemy.
You are a legitimate target if yer in a mining ship, a hauler or a combat fitted ship. You're a legitimate target if you are even in a pod floating in space. *sighs* Lad, as an enemy, you'll get shot as we wreck havoc in your systems just like you occasionally come up and try to do the same in our systems.
If you're so bent outta shape about those kinda things, complain and try and get your up and ups to arrange a ceasefire. Won't happen though as you're mainly rich kiddies having fun and playing at pilot while your enlisted crews get turned to vaccum snacks while you wake up in a cloning vat.
Ach well, no skin of ma nose like, I'm having braw fun, just you dinna go complaining about it so much.

Well, since we (as well as most every other alliance) are at war with CA, I don't see why we don't engage them in empire, as long as the security hit isn't too bad. Besides, you don't really have to blow up all the ships to disrupt an MO, just 1 or so. War is hell, and war involves total destruction until the enemy loses the will to fight. This is just Shiva coming early imo. I'm surprised everyone isn't engaging CA in this manner. Why should an enemy get a free ride to move minerals/supplies to and from a war zone?

Actually, it probably makes more military sense to focus on XIF mining ops then it does to focus on their limited military. Seeing as Xetic is primarily a mining/production alliance, attacking their miners and destroying their haulers is the best way to infict damage that the entire alliance will feel (As opposed to destroying their military, where only the pvp corps would suffer).

Now people understand why I sometimes feel sooo tired of Xetic Federation.
Syncros... 1. Basicly you don't have the right to post things like this, I'm pretty sure this was decided in one of our endless meeting. So basicly, you're going to remove all your posts and ask to a nice mod to lock this 2. We do attack CA's mining ops. At least when they don't insta log (we had hard times with the message saying you joined local). 3. I don't kill CA miners because it's usefull, I just kill them because I love seeing them whining in local. I don't think it affects a lot the economy within CA. 4. Killing people is fun. Sometimes they fight back and it's even more fun, sometimes they don't but they still make some nice firework. So basicly I don't see the problem with CA loving fireworks.

If I had any pull in XIF, I'd try my hardest to get Deep Space Fishing kicked from the Alliance. I'd say more, but it's been covered already, mostly by our own people.
PS This is quite a remarkable thread though, CA and XIF agreeing on so many points.

XF intentionally destroyed a CA BS. XF is then wtfp0wned for 2 weeks where they lose over 250 BS to CA's 10.
CA leaves when XF refuses to fight any longer feeling they have learned their lesson.
XF sends a few noobs to fly in the quickly destroyed SA fleets and then irritates some of the CA mining ops. Not effective but they tried... i guess.
Some CA corps decide to "remind XF" that they suck roids and should stick to that. As I'm fond of saying... "poke a pitbull, pull back a stump".

If anyone could experience what is happening down here i'm sure you would share the same views. Sorry if people think im being ignorant but it's only my opinion
You like mining we like blowing stuff up. We blow your stuff up you mine to replace it and we come back to blow it up again. Its fun for all now shush.

Quote: XF intentionally destroyed a CA BS.

And which part is the lie lad?
The bit about XIF forces blowing up a CA BS, or the part about XIF loosing many times their number of Battleships in response to few CA kills during the war? Or the part about leaving once you refused to fight, or the part about XIF guys mainly flying with SA fleets? Perhaps the part about attacking curse mining ops? Or the part about CA corps hitting XIF targets recently?
Could you point me out the lie please lad? My eye's ain't what they used to be.

No one likes to be duped and your getting plenty of that, LAD.
The entire point about XIF needing a lession is based upon the premise that the war was our doing. CA broke the NAP, everyone but CA saw this and yet the Duke still can't help the pitiful grab for the moral high ground. This fact is shown in the incident logs and in the one and only CA-XIF NAP.

See lad, that wasn't so hard was it? You just have to get down off of your high horse and try and back up what you say. It helps all the people who wanna read what you say.
*pauses* So basically you're annoyed at this section: "feeling they have learned their lesson." and the rest is all truth? Fine, I can live with that.
At the end of the day, being in the channel when the pilot was attacked all those months ago and reading everything available, I feel both sides were at fault so don't try and paint yourselves as the moral high ground winners, cause it just doesn't wash.
Though of course I'll belive my commanders interpretation and orders over yours. *winks*
Anyho, that aside, the reasons for the war don't matter so much as this looney *points at Syncros* thinking hitting supply and distribution nodes isn't part of a war effort. |

I'm not unhappy about the war itself. Never have. In fact, I think it was a much needed wake up call and turned XIF in the right direction because something was bound to test us as some stage. All I ever complain is this need for a bogus moral justification.
'We war now!'..would of been the sweetest CA war declaration ever.

well then, does it really matter why the war was started in either alliances eyes? Certainly the side being agressed upon will see these justifications as bogus and the side agressing will see the justifications as richeous. *grins and shrugs* As you're on the agressed side, you see your points as valid. As the agressor side, i see my own sides points as valid.
Both sides have vlaid point. But of course it doesn't matter really, not amongst those of us who are fighting, eh?

Quote: Sorry. but CAs response to this incident was simply too fast, too organised and too widespread to have been anything other than planned and intended.
Why thank you. The very fact that we weren't staged to attack and you view that as the only way we could have attacked with such force is taken as a compliment.
Quote: The entire point about XIF needing a lession is based upon the premise that the war was our doing. CA broke the NAP, everyone but CA saw this and yet the Duke still can't help the pitiful grab for the moral high ground.
Your alliance has admitted that they changed the "free passage" without notifying CA. You drew first blood by destroying a CA ship. You can try and paint that any way you want but it doesnt change the facts.
Quote: I'm not unhappy about the war itself.
Well we're about to make you exstactic then Since you haven't learned the lesson we'll take you to school again. Sooner or later your member corps are going to get fed up with paying for the lack of leadership in XF. Some of you can try and "keep a brave face" in public but everyone knows you're getting the snot kicked out of you. Carry on with your denial...

Did we fade back until the brats got bored and went away? Yup, cos lining up to be killed with the minimum of trouble? Not sensible tactics. Lesson? Well you taught us and the rest of the game a great one; don't trust CA The fact that you've put together a string of half truths doesn't make Dukes lie about the start of the war any less a lie
Lass, if you'll read what was said, he said Duke was a liar. I called him on what exactly he meant about Duke's statment was a lie. He replied it was that one part about "lesson" and regarding that to the rights and wrongs of the aforementioned war start. He didn't dispute the rest of what Duke said, and actually, neither lass, have you.
Here, I'll point it out to you. First lass, your words:
Quote: then all the rest of your 'truths' are exposed for the rubbish that they are
Quote: Did you pwn us for 2 weeks? Yes,
Good, glad you agree that it's the truth.
Quote: Did we fade back until the brats got bored and went away? Yup
And again, you agree with us, good.
Saying whether or not the war start reasons are a liar or not (obviously different depending on which alliance you ask) have no bearing on the rest of what happened. For example, I mean, are you saying you didn't lose around 250 battleships in 2 weeks? I'm not debating the reasons for the war, I'm saying about the rest of what Duke said.
*shrugs*
As for the condesention, yes, it was condesending a little wasn't it? Glad you could see that, shows your eye's aren't as bad as mine. *grins* I asked him a simple question and he ignored what I said and tossed off a rote "i don't want to say why i say he's lieing, he just is lieing cause I say so".

Look I care little for your 'we-are-uber' posts Duke. I'll read them, and move on. However when you present blatant lies here for everyone to read, I get involved.
No one change any part of the NAP. There was only one NAP signed and you and CA have failed to show anyone what was changed. Let me refresh everyone memory on how dishonest your group is.

In the debates that raged over this subject at the onset of the war, your own alliance mates admitted they had changed the wording of the NAP "and posted it on our alliance site. It's not our fault if you didnt come read it". I doubt I'm the only one that recalls this debate and that statement but i'm not going to spend days digging it up from the archives.
The reason CA had free passage in XF space was due to the fact that your alliance NEEDED access to CA refineries prior to POS's... ring a bell?
Non "Aggression Pact" key word being aggression:- The act of initiating hostilities or invasion.
- The practice or habit of launching attacks.
- Hostile or destructive behavior or actions.
Was that solo CA BS initiating hostilities or launching an invasion of XF? Did he launch attacks? Did he display hostile or destructive behaviour? The answers are no, plain and simple.
It was the trigger happy XF pilots that did all of the above acts of "AGGRESSION". They willfully scrambled, they willfully opened fire and they willfully caused the destruction of the CA BS thereby violating the "Non Aggression Pact".
To the XF member Corps: All of XF should understand that your leaders have caused the war you bear the brunt of. Their continued antagonistic behaviour in CA space, support of CA enemies, denial of fault and failure to accept responsibility for their fool hearty actions will bring another wave of CA hostilities directed at you.
Do you remember the day when CA allowed you to refine in CA space? Do you remember the day when you had free passage through our blockades? All that ended the moment YOUR LEADERS ordered the destruction of a CA battleship and failed to offer any compensation or even a mere apology. No, they preferred to proclaim their righteousness while sending over 250 XF BS's to their deaths.
Have they sent the XF military to defend you? Were they successful the few occasions they pulled their heads out of their safespots? Do you enjoy the prospect of another full scale CA invasion because of their lack of wisdom? Then maybe it's time to review XF leadership and publically denounce their lunacy.

Have they sent the XF military to defend you? Were they successful the few occasions they pulled their heads out of their safespots? Do you enjoy the prospect of another full scale CA invasion because of their lack of wisdom? Then maybe it's time to review XF leadership and publically denounce their lunacy.
Duke, safe your breath. We dont want peace with "your" alliance The crap about how you are "owning" us is just because you want some relieve. If we act friendly again you can concentrate more on SA/FA or someone else. News flash wont happen, SA/FA has done for more then giving us refine rights. The word trust and companionship mean anything ?
And most of the time you are stories are full of bull**** and propoganda, this one aint different. Now stick your own head back in your safespot

Syncros, dude.... you just missed a perfectly good opportunity to remain silent!
1. You are in 0.0 space, that means no law, lawless space, you can do whatever you want, you can be attacked at any time... which part don't you understand about 0.0 security space
2. You are AT WAR with CA. CA can attack you at any time, whether you're armed or disarmed, or whatever. If you are not ready IT'S YOUR DAMNED PROBLEM!!
Instead of whinning, fit guns, join the fighters and FIGHT!! This is not a minning simulation, and you are not in Kansas anymore TOTO!

I merely asked for peoples comments and thoughts, since the ca invasion i think you will find that 100% of our corp has been completely dedicated to the war effort and they should not in any respect be held responcible for my actions, i do not deny the meaning of war nor do i deny the past between our factions. I've apologised for this topic being posted and at the time didn't realise the damage that was potentially possible, i was also not aware of the manner of which situations like this were to be dealt with so i again apologise to everyone for this thread

In other words, I've been told in no uncertain terms by someone higher up in my corporation and alliance to have this thread removed. *winks*
Best bet to have it locked would be emailing [email protected] and giving the name and url.

Quote: In the debates that raged over this subject at the onset of the war, your own alliance mates admitted they had changed the wording of the NAP "and posted it on our alliance site. Non "Aggression Pact" key word being aggression: The act of initiating hostilities or invasion. The practice or habit of launching attacks. Hostile or destructive behavior or actions.
Its very simple Duke. CA has had months now to end this debate by simply QUOTING FROM THE NAP! Not very difficult to do Duke is it?!
Yet nothing. Gee, I wonder why that is?
Regarding your personal opinions about aggression. Weeks before the loss of your single ship that refused to turn around in XETIC space, ATUK, then a member of CA, killed many XIF ships in our space and yet we tried had to solve it diplomatically (in the end, CA as usual lied and claimed it was our fault). Exactly what you try to accuse us off doing, CA did on a vastly larger scale weeks before anyhow.
