I think it's ugly as hell. I won't go there anymore. I guess this will just be considered another flamebait/ignore comment.

So no, the designers of BC have been the same since day 1. It's a big change because it needed to be a big change. It simply could not continue to scale in its previous incarnation.

I read every word. Even the ragers, if they have something that can be useful. We've made over 25 changes since we went into public beta and we've had some really great feedback. So yeah. I read it.

Personally I don't find it visually pleasing, I much preferred the old BC layout of everything, perhaps tidying that up and making it visually nicer, rather than the layout itself? VoV

I'm confused by all the negative feedback really. I think it's so much more pleasing on the eye + it loads quicker than the old one.

Loading faster than the old one isn't an accomplishment. besides, most of us can't see that functionality because battleclinic since the acquisiton of griefwatch has been intent on forcing themselves as the leader in eve killboards, by taking away valuable functionality from griefwatch (feeding), and now by requiring api keys and registration to view killmails.
you know why RealPlayer went away? because they had a good product, but instead of improving their product they tried to force it into every aspect of your pc. and people quit using it. this is a business model that battleclinic seems to follow to the T.
oh, and disregarding complaints about ease of use by telling people to get their eyes checked only reinforces that you have no business in website design. i've left skidmarks in my pants that were more intuitive than this ****.

if it stays like this, it's the end of battleclinic for me...
the color scheme is fugly, my eyes are bleeding, the ship loadout filter is unusable...
what the hell happened to the "actual" ship filter? the crap "category" garbage is totally unusable...
it's a really big shame, because i liked battleclinic very much, but this turned it into a steaming pile of crap (personal opinion)...

Uh, this makes no sense. You type a ship into the search box and loadouts show up.

There's always a few folks that are never happy with anything; it's ok -- look at how much abuse CCP takes and just keeps putting out a great game.
Even tho you like the white, we did add a 'dark' theme. There's a little sun / moon toggle next to the search box. Timecodes: http://shop.BattleClinic.com

Old BC was pretty terrible so this is a improvement, but not gonna use it since I have to register, sorry. Evedev killboards are still a lot easier to use and BC is just something you go to once or twice per year to check the rankings.

for me battleclinic looks like a real product now, the design is good.
But a very bad idea is to make people sign up or/and login to just VIEW parts of the page. But wtf, just to view a killmail? So i have a bc account now just to view killmails. What do you do, collect emails or what? Or is this just a "feature" to push your registered user count that some pathetic marketing idiot told you?

Yes, actually. since they own griefwatch, anything posted on a GW board is posted on BC as well, plus they feed off of prominent EDK boards, yet stopped EDK boards from feeding off GW, and as far as I know BC has never supported feeding.
bc is more intent on forcing other boards out of the picture than improving their product.

Maybe BC should default to the dark "colour" theme instead of...not, since people seem to prefer it and the setting to change it is tucked away (also, it might not be configurable without an account?).
Also, if huge changes were made, maybe they should be advertised somewhere on the site so people don't immediately assume it's just fail. It doesn't seem to make any sense to change the direction of the sight without communicating that to your users (unless you want them to be upset).

It's a simple toggle on any page and is stored in your session cookie, so should be a one-click. If you have an account on BC, it's also configurable there.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Our hand was forced, unfortunately. For 8 years, we've been completely open, but recently we've had to take small measures like this to keep the servers running and free of abuse. And remember, this is all free--we're not (and won't ever) charge you money to use BattleClinic. I think that's a pretty fair trade frankly.
Quote: What do you do, collect emails or what? Or is this just a "feature" to push your registered user count that some pathetic marketing idiot told you?
No, it's not that. In fact, we are approached by other companies weekly. Some want to buy our membership list. Others want to co-develop applications with us, then market those apps to our members directly. We reject all of these.
My promise to the membership (it's in our terms of service) has been and will continue to be that we will never sell, rent, or otherwise disclose your registration info to third parties.

EDK provides these feeds, Silly. Don't make it sound ebil.

Your facts: fail. Lifetime board admins can provide feeds.
I suggest posting with accuracy, it will give you credibility later in life.

Edited by: Orakkus on 08/07/2009 20:12:06 I wasn't very happy with the new changes to be honest.
First, I miss being able to search by system. It may be still an option, but I have yet to find a way.
Second, the color scheme is... well, ugly. Sorry, nothing personal.
The loadout menu I could get used to, but then again I don't use it alot.
Outside of that, I would like to thank you again for your efforts in making such a useful website.. and for free or iskies nonetheless.

Viewing the killmails should not be included in the "registration required" list. Grabbing the original killmail, and comments, of course, but viewing the killboard not. Despite you saying it's not some marketing trick logic tells you're lying. Aside that the only reason that could apply is "Cause we could" or "Just to annoy you" Judging by the fail attitude, reasoning, and claims of the OP, and BC representative it's clear there is no "hands were tied, and now we just had to" Make it open! It's probably the most requested change, and you're ignoring it, like it's a CCP petition.

Then why force the registration. Your aggressive responses on this page alone, make me doubt your "promise".
If you are worried about abuse on your site, then surely you only need to register to post. Where is the risk of abuse to you when someone reads a killmail.

as for Griefwatch, that would be nice if I could import from/export to Eve-Dev killboards without paying the lifetime charge thing but...
