If you don't see a problem with what these scum have done you need a reality check.
Let's all look out of our windows to real life for a second...
There are these things called concerts and sporting events. To gain entry to such an event one must buy a ticket for a fixed price.
One day your favorite band decides to put on a concert in your town - WOW! You run to the ticket office, but alas, all the tickets are gone. Around the corner you bump into Greedybastard McNomates who has bought lots of tickets with the intent of selling them at 10 times face value. He offers you a ticket for this grossly inflated price - how do you feel?
You feel very angry, you can either pay this greedy c**t what he wants and reward him for f***ing you and many other fans over and essentially give him money for free, or you can miss this once in a life time event.
It is in fact illegal to do what Greedybastard McNomates has done, and if he was caught he'd be going to jail where he'd surely find lots of new 'mates' (Read û he wonÆt be able to sit down for a while).
Touting is illegal. Sure you could say a concert or sporting event is not a necessity, but look at other cases of Touting.
Certain tube stations in London used to have huge problems with a*seholes going in at like 5-6am and emptying the machines of tickets and then selling them for 3-4 times the price. In that case what can you do? Pay the f***er or be late/miss work and get sacked?
...and the advanced learning skills are people's livelihoods, everyone has a right to get them at the face value!
These people will never get screwed if they sell one skill book at 20 million and then the prices get dropped back to normal with a reseed the next day. They have lot nothing, they can sell the rest for 5 million and have still made a 15 million profit on that one sale. Hell if they bought 3 books at 5 million and sold one for 20 they could trash the other two and skill make 5 Million profit! ThatÆs why I hate people who pay the touts as much as the touts themselves û if there was no profit in it they wouldnÆt do it û duh!

Well tbh i think its a pathetic, biased and stupid way of doing things.
The only people with the chance to take advantage of such supply and demand situations fall into one of the following:
a) Jobless doll dosser who plays games all day
b) General geek who skips school to play eve
c) Retired/out of work/school for some genuine reason
d) Someone from a part of the world where its normal to be at home doing nothing after DT
CCP expressed that with the hand out of tech2 bp's, they wanted it to be as fair as possible and wanted to keep their hands as far away from the process as possible. So why with skills are they released in such a stupid way, where only a particular portion of the eve community can take advantage of a situation. So more will be added tomorrow after DT, when the same people who couldnt take advantage today, wont be able to again.
In my opinion some "fair" solution should be thought of pritty fast.

it's not as if people can't put in buy orders for the amount they're willing to pay, and then let those buy orders be filled by the npcs as the skillbooks are entered into the Market. you don't have to be there the moment you buy something.

it's not as if people can't put in buy orders for the amount they're willing to pay, and then let those buy orders be filled by the npcs as the skillbooks are entered into the Market. you don't have to be there the moment you buy something.

Are you upset (Eve will prolly not let me use the p/o words) that you missed a few hours or day in skill points loss, and be honest, that loss is peanuts in the grand scheme of things.
Or are you upset because these people made a hefty buck? If that is the case... why? It takes a lot of money to pull this off on a grand scale. So those who can do it are already filthy rich. What did I read, someone buy ~10 of each set? That comes to a 250M investment. For people who can gamble with this amount of money, the profit is just a drop of water to the bucket.
Would I have done it if I could: Heck yes! Trading and gambling around Eve's market has always been a main part of my income. Wish I'd been around to be able to do it...
So, step back, take a deep breath and try again tomorrow. Jeesh, it's not such a big deal.

I'll trade you my ability to buy new skillbooks for myself right after DT in return for not having DT right in the middle of prime play hours. Here in Australia we get stuck with DT betwenn 9pm and 10pm.

Well...I was online just after downtime (like, 1 minute).....plenty of skills around for about 5.2-5.5 mil, in sufficient quantities (I saw about 5-8 locations with about 5-15 skills each when I looked). This was placid btw.
I bought just what I needed - 3 perceptions, 3 intelligence. One for me, two for my two corpmates.....thats it. Have plenty cash to buy them, but I hoped some people who had little money could get their asses online just after DT and scoop some away before the big boys came in. Judging the limited amount of skills I saw on the market at the high prices, I still think many people got hold of most of the "cheap" ones! |

Price gouging will only work if the person selling is willing to buy the books up EVERY day.... wait a few days..... they WILL have stabilised.
'Questionable' trading and post-DT buy orders have been going on in Eve since day 1. (of release).
My 1st Char was supposed to be a trader but I found that all the profitable routes were taken by mass buy orders put in just before downtime and picked up on server reset.
*shrugs* I'm not upset... They cannot hold a monopoly when it's 3000 books per day.
