and to everyone else.. this is the first mmorpg I've played where the GMs were willing to replace any lost items.
I once logged on to fight some NPCs in my scorp.. servers went down (I didn't realize what time it was) and I died.. they wouldn't replace my ship :( "you should know what time the servers go down!"
oh well :D ________

The very first time I had to petition (this is going back a long time now) the GM was extremely unhelpful. Since then though I think they've been given at least a little leeway to side with the player so long as they have something in their logs and, in my personal experience, I've found the GMs to be extremely helpful on every occasion since. The only small downside is that you tend to have to wait a few days at least before they get around to you, which doesn't bother me too much but I'm sure it does others. It seems CCP don't mind spending extra cash on hardware (which is good) but a few more paid GMs as well would be nice.

Edited by: Wren on 19/09/2004 11:11:09 A GM helped me out big time once and helped me get back all of my ISK due to a prob with the bounty system.
For a while, I had 0.00 isk.
Now, I know I have buds who would have stepped up and not let me be a penniless slob, but the GM took the time to hear me out, and then help fix the problem. I am not gonna go into what happened or what he did, but it wasn't simple or cut and dry, and he still took the time to help a guy.
That's way way way way way way way more than I got with EverQuest GM's or City of Hero GM's.

I did get 31 million isk from GM's...
Why ? because I had just insured my Megathron and while doing a mission I suddenly could not see the rats.
I do a petition and a GM tells me that this bug would be fixed if I did repackage my ship. Since I had just insured my ship I felt that well it sucked.
Did what the GM told me and the bug was fixed. Did then send in a petition and explain about the insurance and what the GM had told me and they paid me back 3 days later

I was a victim of the Zombie attack in Yulai and I lost 5 implants and a superbly equipped Thorax (I wandered close to the smartbombing Apoc and got a wee bit too close).
I petitioned and got it all back \o/

If you know what you can get back and when it shouldnt be a problem:
You can get your ships replaced if:
-It was not "possible" (ie. you get blown up by a frig/bb using cruisemissles, got my taranis back this way or if you get ganked in a 1.0 mass massacre (such as zombie did in yulai))
-You loose your ship because of a server/node crash (ie. when a node fails and loads of people log of at the same time)
Basicly all other stuff such as loosing your ship after warping to a belt, and getting disconnected by whatever reason other then a server/node crash doesnt get refunded in general.
Also when petitioning you should keep a few things in mind:
-You need to explain exactly why it wasn't your fault
-You should remain "nice" (if you come over as an ******* chances are you won't get reimbursed because gm's are humans to)
-You should be detailed and precise and know actually what you are writing about (for example having alot of knowhow of the game mechanics in order to explaining exactly what happened is a big plus).
-------- -The only real drug problem is scoring real good drugs

Shev,
Whether or not the customer comes across as a pain in the proverbials doesn't matter; it's the facts of the case that are most important.
Still, doesn't hurt to be polite

Edited by: Danton Marcellus on 19/09/2004 18:01:11 I had a whole can of researched blueprints replaced after having them mysteriously vanish from a personal hangar, that and a few ships, so yes, sometimes they come back.

Originally by: Kynoch Apparently the in game monitoring capabilities are such that nothing can readily be verified. I have just learned this the hard way. A year and a half and 3 accounts later my business is not worth being believed by CCP. Its sad really. Is there a fine line here? What is it and what would improve the ability for us to be believed when we have a problem in game.
Actually...virtually everything in game can be tracked and verified by the GMs. They are able to monitor and verify more than you obviously understand. The GMs can tell where you are at any time...where you were going...or where you just were. They can verify past events you were involved in, what ship you were in, what it had equiped, even what was in your cargo hold at the time. They can verify if you activated certain mods on your ship...and even at what time you activated them. The GMs know about every office you hold, every ship you own, every mod...bp...and mineral stack you own...and where in the great world of EvE any of it is located at any given time.
If they refused your claim...you either lied about, or misrepresented your claim...or are in a position where a refund is not acceptable.
I too have had things refunded. I have also had things not refunded when it was not proper to do so. You win some, you lose some.

If that were the case then they should have explained the circumstances of my loss to me. Believe me I can comprehend the vagaries of code. I develope EDM systems. When a part of the menu disappears after making a valid choice in game and as a result you lose everything then something is obviously goofy. Cant be explained away as lag since none was bing experienced at the time. I had ample time to try several different things.
I was also polite and gave description of the situation as I experienced it. Again it was a cookie cutter response to the effect of "too bad so sad". I have to accept it but I dont have to like it. Its principle against principle here. I have to decide if all my time is wasted and just close my 3 accounts. A character with 13 mil skill points is not easy to come by and I would hate to throw that away...as well as one with 9 mil and 3 mil. Oh well.

I lost my megathron due to player induced lag. The only thing i could think of was "that hurt" losing a ship without even beeing able to do ANYTHING.
Anyways, send in a petition got as reply that they needed more info, but that lag isn't good enough a reason for a replacement of a ship. So i did a reply, and appearantely there is a failure in the system somewhere because my reply's don't arrive at the gm's. petition get's closed. repetition with the explenation about the reply failures.
They told me to do the reply's directly on the eve website.
Did so, but appearantly it doesn't work or something, cauze here i am, 2 or 3 months later, flying a maller :/
