Mining V, cloaking V and target painting V are the must haves.

Dont be lazy and start from scratch. You obviously have no clue about what your doing so it might be worth you playing from the beginning and learn that way. Rather than jump in with a already trained pilot. |

Oh I beg to differ, it's more funny when the new people buy combat characters and try to solopwn someone

Edited by: Mavrix Able on 22/06/2009 08:32:05 Nerve IV, Fleet Comms Discipline II, Cool under Fire IV, Overview Controls III, Spatial Orientation II are the basics I guess.
Of the more advanced skills are: Precognition, Lag Engineering and Outcome Analysis.
Bad thing is these skills aren't seeded on the market, the good thing is you can train them parallel to your the "regular" EVE skills.
EDIT: Oh and don't forget Ship Setup Understanding IV

I am afriad that is true. but i still hate the character selling part of this game. makes people lazy. I may not have started when this game first came out but i have been playing for two years nearly and things are two easy now.

OP: As you may be able to understand out of the above 'helpful' comments being made, its not the skills trained that make a good PvP character. If you don't know what you are doing then you are just throwing away money on a pre-build character.
I can only suggest you follow the only useful advice given above wich is to do/ learn it yourself. Get in a frig, or with a bit more skills an interceptor, dig up some PvP fitting screens from here and there (battleclinic etc.) and have some fun.

Welcome to Eve. Welcome to the Eve forums. You just had your first PVP experience, and lost.
But to be halpful. Frigate 4, T2 weapons for Frigates. High Speed maneuvering, and Propulsion Jamming are the essential core skills.
There are countless others that you will want too. but to many to list off here

pvp only go so far with your skills
you cant buy expereince.
if you buy a charater you get the skills but still lack the understanding of how to use the equipment efficiently and how far your boundires for the charater are.
for people who have grown charaters we know how far we can push pvp before we go , i knkow i cant win that.
i suggest you listen to people in the thread in what we are saying , it the expereince not the skills you own.
start one from scratch is what i would suggest

Plus you will have your own character that you have created and i personally think it feels better to have a two year old character that you have invested a lot of time in and built yourself up from nothing. Plus you can pvp within a weeks training in a frigate, plenty of posts on this forum about people who have done that and some old players still do Join the brown Coats today!!! |

Go pvp first with a new character or at least start pvping in frigates or other cheap ships. Otherwise it wonŠt be a lot of fun and you wonŠt learn much either. |

PvP is require skill of many colour they are all help to the cause of shooting ship in hull and remove isk from target of wallet in ship fit to guns and scrambler of the warp then a late buerner of a small driveing warp that make you go fast and space police pull over ship of you lololololol if start to pvp get a ship of bettle as battleing ship is good as it is powerfull guns and is strong in the mini ship inside of hull if not very strong in the bank vault you could get a cruiser battleing insdtead as it is considerably less in the money than a batteleng ship but if get a battleing cruiser make sure to fit good guns to it of the tech level second or fraction weapons as it will make your ship in vinceable in the battleground but never stay way big ship as learn do you not only in ships of the small stature as ships in the small stature do not do much of the second damage per and damage will only break the enemies armored car rather than ecm as ecm does not break the enemies armored car!!!!! |

if you are that clueless about what is good/bad, you are a ways off of even wanting to think about spending isk on a character.
read the forums a bit, try some low end pvp, and watch some pvp videos. that should give you a good idea of what is good. |

Cant go wrong if a dev thinks the same as most of the people on this topic. But why is caracter selling allowed? Do people use it for there alts or what? when i leave if i ever do for good. My character is being biomassed. No one else gets to use and abuse me. |

Fast reflexes is quite an important component, which is quite a pity. Spaceships battles really should be about detailed manueovering and strategy, not sit on a camp and use fastest fingers to lock onto something before it cloaks, nor spend 2 hours roaming about.
