I'll be organizing an event in which a number of officer and faction NPCs will be spawned and players will be free to shoot them and loot their stuff.
The event will most likely take place in FD-MLJ, at a time and date to be announced.

Will it be a just massive spaw of faction/officers ships with huge lag and 250 players try to kill them and killing other players to get the stuff they looted ? or anything more organized with a certain number of ships per players ? |

This has no other purpose than to give people a chance to get their hands on some faction/officer modules, in case they want to test some fittings with those.
I will use the FFA or BF beacons to spawn different types of NPCs, by size. You can trade afterwards if you don't like what you got.
The time for this will be most likely in the afternoon (GMT), most likely on Thursday or Friday.

Could you also increase the spawn rate in the belts so they spawn like normal rats for a few days, maybe all factions spawning in FD- |

Why, for the love of God, are you encouraging this? I can understand if you wanted to check faction drop rates (lol ammo), but seriously, god damn. ____________________ CCP: Catering to the cowards of a cold, harsh universe since November, 2006. |

Seeing as you never see opposing faction ships in the same space in the game if you spawned Estamel and Cormack in the same space (as I presume you intend to, among others) would they actually fight eachother or just fly around aimlessly despite the fact they're -3.00 to eachother?
(Not exactly what the event is about granted, but I was curious!)

Durzel - NPC vs NPC standings are not taken into account in the NPC behaviour. It would be nice to have, but the added strain on the server would be considerable. We may revisit this at a later date, however. |

Ah, that's a shame.
Am I right in thinking also that your standing towards pirate factions is only relevant when talking to agents? (i.e. you'd be attacked on sight in space by any rat who is predisposed to attack people)
Sorry for the mild hijack, I just find the AI aspects of the game quite fascinating. |

it does open up quite a bit of future opportunities tho. Especially in border systems or even constellations between the pirate factions having both spawn in belts and the amols ie blood and serpentis either shooting each other or being in the same belt maybe 1 or 2 of each bs. WOuld add a element of pve to those areas. Ie delve-fountain connecting areas perhaps 2-3 systems in each side or ccp could create new border systems to add some extra beef to 00

Durzel - asteroid belt NPCs don't take standings into account, so they will always attack. Standings are relevant when you are talking to agents and also in certain missions and complexes, which can be authored individually so that if your standings towards that faction is over a certain threshold you will not be attacked by NPCs unless you attack them first.

This alone would be reason enough to move ratting to complex mechanics (and asteroid belts) so people who are working for pirate factions can actually stay save and possibly hide together with rats from intruders and would also allow spawning of empire intrusions into pirate space the pirates could rat on.
Heck, with advanced spawning mechanics of complexes one could even orchestrate a stargate blockade by NPCs by spawning a non-deadspace "Blockade" site on a stargate location.
The possibilities with improved site mechanics and spawning would be staggering.]

Hm.. I don't buy it.
If you would like to give us some officer mods you could just seed them in our hangars or don't limit those officers to particular dates (where you're for sure will be observing). Just let them appear 24/7 with 100% on Sisi in belts.. no?
Let's go fishing here for a moment.. Apocryphia brought us new NPC. NPC with a new AI. If I remember correctly it was upon that time when CCP also announced it wanted to beef up the officers AI. Didn't heard about that since.. Anyone experienced Officers with an improved AI? And another fun fact.. we got a dev blog where we got told about new t3 droprates and stuff in next patch.. 3 weeks are gone since.. time is ticking for that patch. Might we see improved officer AI then too and this 'is' the beta-test?
Just my 2 cents. |

My thoughts exactly, however I decided I didn't want to ruin it if that is the case. But since you have, I have to agree |

Jesus ****ing christ all he is going to do is type in a few gm commands and let people blow up some officer and faction rats. You know, something cool that everyone always says CCP never takes the time out to do anymoar? This should not hinder the developers in any way from working on the code for the game. Or are the haters in this thread being pre-butthurt over the fact that they might miss the event and so not get any of the good stuff? |

People will whine about anything.
Anything anyone gets from this will disappear come the next mirror.
It's just a nice gesture that means some people who can otherwise never afford officer mods can try them out (not that they make a huge difference anyway).

I updated the first post with the date and time for the events.
To answer a few of the points above: - we are not working on officer AI at this point - this is not meant to test loot drop rates - we do not want to spawn items into players' hangars or alter the NPC spawn rates in asteroid belts or seed the market with faction and officer modules - I really was only making a friendly gesture to give people a chance to get some faction and officer modules. If that offends you in any way you are free to not show up.
If you really, really, want to see something more in this, feel free to take a look at T1, T2, faction and officer modules in any category and bug report the faction and officer modules that you believe are unbalanced or not in line with the other modules.

I'm sorry if my post did arrive as 'whine' or 'insult' and I apologize for any inconvenience it caused, but I just wrote what my thoughts where as I'd seen the thread. If truthfulness isn't welcome here anymore (this is directed at Durzel/Zeba) I start to wonder for what we have these forums.
@CCP Dev's: Thanks for explaining the missing bits and keep up the good work!
