I recently returned to empire for a break and tried mining veld, i had 1 hulk mining, 1 alt hauling and a third giving mining bonus in a command ship.
I have about 3 mil an hour for 1 hour then i quite, how are you making 13 mil per hour?
Each jetcan-full of veldspar= 1mill tritanium, now do the Math... ---

I assume you are just being a troll, because if you look at the stats that were provided by "CCP" you can clearly see that loot drops and the drone regions put more minerals on the market than mining. Hence making "Because of Orca" not even an issue.
I love how if anyone has a differing opinion (after all thats all it is) and you cant turn them round to your way of thinking then they are automatically a 'troll'. How convenient.
No its simply a case of we must agree to disagree.
What he is trying to say is, given CCP official statistics, your viewpoint is entirely undermined.
Exactly, CCP has given out "official" stats on minerals. It is very clear it's not "Because of Orca". It's not a difference of opinion Jabezhane. You are just choosing to ignore that actual official stats that show your argument is null.

Originally by: Bluddwolf I used to have a main with max skills in mining and he could average between 15 - 22 mil isk worth of ore in 2 - 3 hours ...
Same group of pilots, running high sec lvl 4's and looting and salvaging everything. More isk and lower risk, in same or less time.
The difference here being that you can point mining lasers at rocks and go read mail, catch up with holoreels or chat with friends while having a quiet drink for more than 5 minutes at a time. Running missions (and especially salvaging) requires far more attention to the keyboard.
Mining's fine where it is. We could eliminate T1 loot from NPCs, along with replacing drone compounds with "tags" which are bought out by NPCs, and watch the prices of minerals soar. Perhaps a few people would venture out into lowsec when there was more profit to be made mining previously worthless ores. Ships would become more expensive to produce, and eventually we'd see Veldspar swapping places with Omber in terms of value to mining.
The Orca has contributed greatly to strip-mining operations. So people complaining that mining is suffering "because of orca" do have a point - the people who get to the system belts first will have first pick at what to mine. Those flying fleets with an Orca may decide to simply strip the entire belt since the marginal cost of mining "worthless" ores like scordite and plagioclase is less than the marginal cost of warping the Orca out to haul mined ore back to a refinery.
While veldspar is still the most valuable ore, there is plenty of mining to be done in level 1 and 2 mission spaces. This mining is made much easier with the help of Orcas, so for every belt that is stripped bare by fleets of Hulks accompanied by Orcas, there are dozens of mission-space asteroid belts begging to be harvested by those same fleets.
Mining is working just fine for me, for the moment. It's a low-attention activity which makes more ISK than harvesting ice, with less risk of suicide ganking.
Reducing minerals contributed by drone compounds and "loot" (which has never been clarified to be mission loot or player manufactured stuff) will drive up prices of mid-range minerals, which might push some industrialists out to lowsec, but certainly will drive up the price of T1 ships.
It would be interesting to see what happens to mineral prices if CCP were to base insurance payouts on current market prices of the minerals used to manufacture the ship being insured. This would remove floor pricing, which would have interesting effects on the mineral market.

you forgot production after you've perfected your hulk pilot, orcas, and such.

To those who think mining should pay much less because it is an AFK play style -- keep in mind, that missioning can also be the same with proper drone skills (get aggro, release drones, walk away from kb until mission done).
