timulous	Posted - 2009.06.30 11:36:00 - [1] so you nerfed the falcon congrats now the falcon is a glorified blackbird only differance is its worth 120mil plus they gave it a usless drone bay and switched weapons mounts around.. its **ed off alot of people including me and they ruin it by further taking away jam time as soon as you cloak. when someone is warp jamming you and you taget jamm them there warp disruption still sticks for the 20secs how about fix that **ers the point of the 120mil ship is for it to jamm at 100km theys why it is worth so much.. now it is wirth as much as a blackbird but a bb is better. thank you ccp for the nerf

Next, remove all other weapons than lasers, then make just one damage type, remove shields, armor and structure, make ships have just hp instead of different layers of it. My dream of eve is the good old nethack.

I haven't actually flown a falcon with jammers fitted in a while, well before the changes even. I only flew a jamming falcon like 10% of the time anyway, for larger fights and stuff, usually I was only there to jam the other gang's falcons anyway. I hated flying a jamming falcon in small scale stuff just cus I knew how lame it was when people would do that sh#t to me. So most of the time then (and all of the time now) I just flew around in my pimp falcon spreading peace and love with my fellow man. But what i am over here all QQing about is, the changes they made nerfed my freaking jam strength. My jamming Falcon setup was basically max jam strength, 3xSDAs plus 1x Jam Strength, 1x lock range Rigs, which gave me 14.5 jam strength, something like 160km optimal, iirc...could hit 14.6 if I went with a 5th stacking module penalty on another PDA rig..that was with max skills before overloading. The range I didn't really care about cus I was usually just warped to whatever at 70-100km anyway, but my fit basically sacrificed the stupidly overpowered 228km ECM optimal BS that all the other falcons had, in order to get max strength jams...plus I felt like the 11.5 or whatever Jam strengths on those falcons was weaksauce. So when the changes went through I didn't really mind the new range since I was already used to jamming from that close anyway, but they totally screwed over something with the new ECM module strengths + ship bonus + gimped SDA's + the now useless PDA rig, cus now i'm only getting like 14.2 strength jams :/ CCP said it should come up the same as before but obviously they are lied :/ I'm totally going to petition to get my 7.5mil SP in Electronics reimbursed to something that's actually useful since this terrible nerf. If you know how to fly it, its very hard to kill for a ship that has no tank to be spoken of. Confirming that you have no clue.

I argued long and hard against a Falcon nerf, not least because without an effective jammer means that RR BS gangs rule all. Post nerf, I adapted by joining a group who effectively use RR BS. In short, deal with it, adapt and move in. It's happened and it's not going to unhappen.

I dunno, if there had actually been 8 VIABLE major counters, then a nerf wouldn't have been needed. The mere fact that you just pretty much didn't see a single higly successful fleet that didn't use falcons regularly should have made clear this was to strong... Yay for the falcon nerf! That said, I do think it was just a little bit too much. I don't mind the close range, but they said that in exchange for the close range, we'd have greater jam strength, and it just hasn't worked out that way... My falcon alt is still useful, but tbh, it's training hard for other things which are now far more useful.

On the one hand it wasn't really necessary, and it's basically ruined a previously effective ship. On the other hand, I now don't get told BRING FALCON NAOW by FCs, so I am free [FREE!] to fly things with lasers. Which, it turns out, is enormous fun, and something I have discovered some aptitude for. Changing from ECM to EM has done me nothing but good; Heavy Beam Laser IIs really "permajam" people.. And additionally, while we have lost the Falcon, we have gained the Rook. A ship that was previously merely a more expensive Blackbird now has the ECM of a blackbird, with the DPS of a Cerberus, and a decent drone bay as well. Plus it's as close to immune to EW as you're going to get this side of a Supercapital. At long last, the Caldari have a viable cruiser-sized solo ship. So yeah, anyway... the nerfbat giveth, and the nerbat taketh away. I've been playing long enough to take a long view. If you dont like Caldari Recons, then Gallante are only Cruiser V away, after all.

Well i've never been in a corp where i'm forced to use a particular ship so i fly whatever i want as long as it fits the gang type. And yes atm i fly pretty much only amarr ships. But atm i dont fly any of them. I wanted to fly gang support/ewar ships, not stupid sologank ships. But yes i know the rook is a good soloship now.
