wrong. ever used ebay? your reserve can be anything you like, you simply state whether the reserve has been met or not as the bids role in.
as for the sniper rule, it is perfect how it is. every auction site in MMO's i have ever played is exactly like this. every bid has 15 minutes attached to it so you can bit until 21:45 without the end time of 22:00 going over, but if someone bids at 21:58 trying to snipe the item, the bid ends at 22:13. ---
Was it good for you? |

Q: I always imagined the sniper rule to be extended as following.
Ending time 15:00 Sniper rule 15 min.
Ie. One bids 14:55 new time for ending is now 15:10 But there is a new bid at 15:05, the extention is another 15 min. After all. Why whould anyone give up more income. And why whould any potential buyer give up the opertunity to out bid the oponent? SoonÖ

Hidden reserve - what a nonsense on the forum auction. The seller can change their reserve anytime.

Edited by: XkoalaX on 25/02/2005 09:40:53 Sniperrule I don't have a problem with except its too long. 5 minutes should be fine.
Hidden reserve is not needed. If you want to start lower then your willing to get to part with the object then clearly state a reserve. It makes a faster and more efficient auction.
What bothers me though is the "under the table bidding". Eve-mail bidding, that doesn't make sense. That is not an auction, that is a sell.

Hidden reserve is a joke. It's actualy reserving a right to make up your mind as you go along if you will or won't sell. Personaly I wouldn't bid in an auction with hidden reserve but most people do and so it will remain a part of actions.

I don't think it's that bad.. there are a million other things people can do to avoid selling something below what they think they should be getting for it.

I did not get two things here: 1) sniper rule - ok I don't know how *should* this be but I get it how it is used here. But will this rule go for any bid, even the ones that have been posted after the official closing time? Like it will get _another_ 15 mins or whatever it was? 2) reserve - don't know what this means

I could not agree more!!! On a site like E-Bay there is a hidden reserve, but its still "official" in that it has to be entered by the seller brfore the auction begins. The buyer cant see it, but the seller cant change his mind throughout the auction as to what it is. I think hidden reserves need to be made illegal in auctions on the eve forums. All reserves should be visible to everyone.

i think alts should be disallowed... else ppl bid on their own auctions to get higher price. so when alt bids, the seller can always say the alt made a fake bid and therefor the last bid b4 the alt counts (prolly having a much higher bid compared to a auction without the alt involved...) hope you get the point... else alts4tw mmmmkay
(yes this is alt cos i'm lazy :P )

As I understand it: 1. sniper rule: for example let's say 15 min... If you bid for the item with less time than 15 min time left, auction won't end at specified time but 15 minutes after the last bid. if you don't have this rule, everyone can wait until the last second and overbid you, not giving you a chance to respond.
2. reserve: this is a set price under which you reserve the right not to sell the item... You can still sell it if you decide the price is OK, it's just that you are not obligated to sell.
hidden reserve: same as reserve, you just don't disclose the ammount... A bit pointless here since there is no mechanism to make sure you don't change the reserve.

Can auctioner, when I bid his reserve I say 3bil and passed his 15 min.sniper rule as well ,and everything was fine and auction should be finished...He extended auction by 1 day! Can He extend actioun by another 1 or 2 days? I think this is not fair!!
Please answer my question
