Edited by: Akita T on 08/07/2009 15:34:50 Join our corp ! (yes, that's not a joke thread, that's the ACTUAL recruitment thread). We're almost as good as a NPC corp WE DO NOTHING, AND WE DO IT ALL DAY LONG ! Well, that is, if anybody bothers to login, since half barely do, and those that do, it's for a couple of minutes tops, most of the time.
Guess how many applications we receive on a... umm... yearly basis ? I bet those "waargh, we gud, we kill ztuff" guys get dozens per week.

No not really, we're merely forced to think down to your level in order to communicate. Somehow all you kiddies managed to avoid learning any English, despite 16 years of schooling. I suppose its a consequence of getting your 1st mobile phone at the age of 3. Grats.

As many have said.
The good and well establish corps do not need to post adds. They still receive 20+ applications a day and to be honest, only 1 out 100 gets accepted.

People actually read those recruitment posts? Only reason I ever posted one was due to coercion.
The only ways I have ever joined a corp/been invited to has been:
-Being pod'd by them -Knowing someone. -Knowing someone that knew someone. -Smacking in local.
Also I found that your corp experience is what you make of it and that like minded people tend to gravitate together. So if you are the sort that likes to complain and have others provide the fun for you...well don't be surprised at where you end up.

"Hi, we are strict pvp alliance and we are looking for experienced players..." - and yet your membership rats all the day and 1-2 maybe join some joint alliance ops in the evening and go blob someone, whoaaah.
"We are solo pvp corp and kill a lot..." - Whole 3 kills per day?? Really? With 30+ members? I see how elite you are.
"We have good logistics and move stuff easily.." - Oh yea, the carrier dude is off to vacation, he will be back in 3 weeks. The alliance has JF, but its reserved for 2 months, so doubt we can move your stuff with that.
Oh god, im so sick of this crap. Have you actually met some corps that actually describe what they do and how they do it and dont lie about it?
Oh and yea, this is just random verbal dirrhaea, Im not quitting or anything, so dont ask for my stuff. Also, if you want to swear about ******ed random corps recruiting, this is the best place.
My corp builds stuff, then shoots stuff, then builds it again.

OP is right for the most part. My best advice?
-If you are looking for a carebear corp then let the wallets do the talking. -If you are looking for a PVP corp then let the killboards do the talking.
Just that simple :)

Have you ever met anyone that claimed to be who they are? Have you ever met a company that was honest? Have you ever had a McDonald's Big Mac that looked exactly like the Big Mac Picture? Have you ever met a politician?
What's your point?

No, I haven't had a big mac for a long long time, but have had the product be exactly what was promised elsewhere. Have you ever met a politician? Yes
What's your point? What's yours? Just because it's natural for humans to be annoying lying bastards it doesn't mean that everyone should.

The op was I believe commenting on the quality of the recruitment threads.
Now they can be useful sure, however using a forum to look for an ingame corp seems strange. Don't get me wrong I've written up recruitment posts before and I've always been honest about what we do (why would I lie and get the wrong sort of people in to the corp?) I've also posted the general area(s) where the corp is most active as well and the time zone/language we have available.
Now I've fallen for those 'pvp' corps that mission 23/7 in empire, I didn't get the pvp experience so I moved on. When I got the pvp experience I realised I didn't like it, so I moved on again, and eventually I realised it was far more enjoyable to get my own corp and then a handful of trusted people to deal with the corp stuff, so that I can concentrate on the applications/spreadsheet and corp manufacturing that needs to be done.
It could be where you excel, you don't need a lot of ingame knowledge just know where to go to get the information (eve radio channel is sometimes helpful), and honesty is worth so much rather than rambling about something you don't really know the answer to and wasting everyones time and your breath.
Of course recruitment sucks.

I'm tired of the Veldspar, so I tried looking for a "we mine the ABC's all day corp" but sadly found none. Tired to offer up a Orca/Hulk pilot + 2.5 Hulk pilots and found nothing but Empire miners.

My corp does what the name describes. We build tech2 components from moons that we mine.
Of course we aren't looking for anyone (unless you can fly a JF) so good luck with your search!

Getting into a good corp in EVE is hard because of all the junk out there, that is true. EVE is all on one server so in other games you first look for guilds/corporations by server but in EVE it is all one giant mess. The ingame recruitment method CCP put in hasn't changed much either mainly because you have to search by region and there is something ridiculous like 40 regions in EVE.
Also, the "good pvp corporations" probably don't want talentless hangar-ons that just want to bnc on killmails. You gotta say "This is what I bring to the corproation, this is what I can do" instead of "Can I follow you guys around, you are so cool and I can't do it myself"
Originally by: CCP Whisper So you're going to have to do some actual thinking with regards to hull components and their capabilities instead of copying some cookie-cutter setup. Cry some more.

Actually, the best method is to kill some of their pilots, throw out a GF, and chat with them if they seem talkative.

welcome to eve, where the spaceships in space, the pew-pew and the like are novelty items. most players sit behind pos shields or in a station and chat.. or play a shadow-member role while leeching null-sec resources.
nothing really has changed in this respect for years.
what the crap just happened? |
