This is the problem with this forum channel, and always has been. It doesn't matter what the content of a post, even if someone, as was the case here, was trying to build some common ground, one group of regulars will come in and flame/troll the original post and then another group will come flame the first group.
That and logic always reduces the trolls to name calling. Gotta love that.

Well, since you asked politely. Besides, I know I got everything out I wanted to say. Also, I'd like to apologize to the OP for inadvertently hijacking his thread. After I finish grinding standing for a jump clone(can't afford to lose another billion+ in implants) I'll come and pretend to be a low-sec miner in placid. You don't think the Taranis would blow my cover, do you?

We are talking about two different things here, ninja salvaging, and carebear aggroing.
The whole point of ninja salvageing is to go in with a fast frigate, salvage as much as you possibly can, even to the point of kiting the NPC agroo, and then leave and go to the next salvage target.
It is infact "carebearing", the player target isnt going to shoot at you, cos hes knows he (1: Probably dont have tackle, 2: Isnt gonna be able to kill you b4 warp out, 3: Is then gonna be jumped by something big in warp to station and back plus 30, cos he assumes you are a Nija aggroer)
Then there is Ninja aggroing, which seems the same except the "salvage" isnt the main aim, so you take more time to salvage, buzz the player a bit, blatently try to steal the mission critical item.
What the original poster has done is neither. http://BIGLottery.BIG-EVE.com |

Dear Karlemgnesndosn,
I've been playing EVE for a month, and even I can see how you FAIL at EVE and life.
Ninja salvaging does not include: "I would warp into the missions in my Navy Raven and start shooting their rats." You've stated over and over in this thread that people don't have good reading comprehension; however it is quite obvious that you have no idea what a ninja salvager does. So please STFU.
You, sir, are a bull****ter. If 15 ninjas entered your mission, I guarantee that you have no wrecks or loot left after we warp out. If it was one ninja, I wouldn't be surprised.
Please stop with these stupid posts. Thank you.

Now now...he's actually correct. Those of us of the ninja persuasion and could actually run our own L4 missions have more than once 'helped' a mission runner with his mission, especially if he just sits there refusing to create wrecks. (Or if he just sits there blowing up wrecks. If you make wrecks faster than he can blow them up, its even more win-full) (Heck, at one point I had a runner come back in a salvage boat to loot and salvage because I was doing the mission faster than he was )
Stealing the final blow on rats is also a favorite pass time of mine if I'm in the mood. Let the runner blow off the majority of the armor and shield and hull then *pop*. (So not only are you getting the loot and salvage..you're getting the bounties as well)
Not everyone ninjas missions exactly the way Suddenly Ninjas do. (Although if memory serves, the proper term for ninja-ing the bounties is 'mission hijacking') --

the only times i've done it the mission runner ended up talking to me and we started chatting about random stuff for ages, quite friendly like.
i guess i don't value the hate mail 'cos i'm not an emotional cretin. It's desperately pathetic; both ways.

Because the addition of risk adds excitement? I know I like the rush of a good fight. Only ever do any of the less honorable stuff out of frustration when I can't get a good fight. Even then it's only in the hopes of getting atleast some sort of fight. By good fight I mean a nice, 1v1 frigate fight and the occasional 1v1 frigate v cruiser fight.

so you fight just for the joy of fighting even when you know you are going to loose?
what about the joy of utterly destroying your enemy and the joy of looting?

Actually, I like to fight when I think it'll be close. I always like to have a bit of an edge, but it's far more gratifying to kill a more experienced player. When I see no chance of winnning I do look for an out.

i took a long break from empire mission invasion gameplay. (covers salvage-aggro,bait and getting concord to turn up when they self destruct trying to shoot u) new scanning system seems a bit longer but u find more specific targets
Killing macro farmers inside wormholes is just getting lame they have 20 more hulks parked at poses ( blowing up those poses can be fun they drop hulks enmasse) though thats more for an organised group
So for those in mission hubs good work it keeps the game from turning into hello kitty online

I have to agree that a balanced fight is usually the ideal goal, at least in terms of sustainable pvp, as opposed to haemorrhaging isk at every encounter. Otherwise I like to fight outclassed in preference. This certainly does not guarantee success but is far more rewarding than outclassing the opposition.
I have flown in a few gangs from time to time but with the engagements dictated by someone else we tend to either gank, or be ganked... it's rarer to get an even fight when there's a group of you... from my limited small gang experience at least.
I derive very little joy from utterly destroying people. Selling their loot on the other hand tends to bring a smile. Spank got forum muted QQ |
