Hate to Whine CCP, but what happened about this as we are now in the 3rd Quarter of 2009 ?
"While the Nighthawk may have some performance issues, due to the lack of power output, compared to the other field command ships, the ship is not designed to fit Heavy Assault Missile launchers and Micro Warp Drives. CCP plans on reviewing the command ships as a whole in the future. CCP Zulupark stated that there will be several balance changes early 2009, and that this will likely be part of it, with the Nighthawk getting a good look." Taken from CSM minutes with CCP.

Hey, look at that. One mention of "Nighthawk" and a carebear immediately pops up telling everyone how uber his stupid carebearmobile is. Because everyone knows that Nighthawk = PVE.
And there's a very good reason for this. It's because the Nighthawk doesn't have the PG to be fit for PVP. You can't fit HMs, MWD and a gang mod without gimping yourself with multiple fitting mods. No other field CS has this problem.
More PG needed, as a million threads have stated.

I found nighthawk is good for soloing sleeper rats in class 1/2 wormholes but not much else. Better to fly any kind of battleship for level 4's and a drake in pvp. Nighthawk not meant to fit HAMs is lol when you have the Cerb which does a much better job with HM's. Sleipnir is the only field command ship imo that doesn't need a change to make it useful over a hac, battlecruiser or battleship. -- Eventus stultorum magister. |

It wont edit my post 2 times :(
And the nighthawk isn't meant to fit hams, it can fit an active tank or a passive tank with HMLs just fine.

Yes, I use my NH for my isk-farming. So what? I use my claymore, my vagabond, my pest, my maelstrom and my phoenix for pvp. Or am I the only one who thinks about training ships that actually work for a situation rather then cry until all ships works for all situations and they all are the same? Should we just cry to CCP until they remove all ships but one and make it uber for all possible situations? Perhaps give this one ship all the bonuses to all the weapon systems in game and a 8-8-8 slot layout? Would you be happy then?

Don't be stupid. You'd be pretty ****ed off if your Claymore had to fit three RCU IIs to get a PVP fitting on board. Hey, look at this active tank with HMLs that fits "just fine":
[Nighthawk, got RCU IIs?] Damage Control II Ballistic Control System II Reactor Control Unit II Reactor Control Unit II Reactor Control Unit II
Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive Medium Electrochemical Capacitor Booster I, Cap Booster 800 Large Shield Booster II Photon Scattering Field II Invulnerability Field II
Heavy Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Scourge Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Scourge Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Scourge Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Scourge Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Scourge Heavy Missile Heavy Missile Launcher II, Caldari Navy Scourge Heavy Missile Skirmish Warfare Link - Interdiction Manoeuvres
Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I Anti-Explosive Screen Reinforcer I
At least by fitting those three RCU IIs you get an awesome tank. Yep, this can tank over 500 DPS! That's almost the DPS of a Drake! Incredible!

Fix my Eos too while you are at it. Drone bay bonus and Infowar links? Fail!
The nighthawk is fine. FYI, dont fit a gang mod. Its a waste of PG on a ship that doesnt get a bonus for it. If you want gang mods, bring the Fleet Command. ------------------------ Peace through superior firepower: a guiding principle for uncertain times. |

You can PvP with NH, I've personally made a movie about it (the proof) while flying solo.
But does it need more grid?
Heck, YES! Like 120-150 MW more. ---[center] Please resize your signature to the maximum file size of 24000 bytes. Zymurgist |

The quoted CCP reply was to a question/demand where the poster wanted enough fitting to make the ship overpowered both tanking and damage wise.
Last time I checked the Nighthawk has the same limitations as all the other commandships; you have to make compromises/sacrifices to get it close to 'pwn'.
It is currently godly at what it does, provide gang-link while utterly demolishing cruisers (and some frigs) at monster ranges.

Lolz. You've included three fitting mods, and you still don't have a gang mod, and you still need a PG implant.
I couldn't have put my point across better myself.

And this is why the Nighthawk wont get revisited (and probably not my Eos either ) is because people believe everything needs to be fitted on them without making compromises. Its dumb to fit a gang mod on it because its a waste of PG. Also, PDSs add shield capacity, recharge, so on... its not just fitting mod.
Another ship you might want to look at that also has an impossible fitting: Astarte. I know I keep throwing out Gallente examples, but damn, you Caldari are whining about one of the better ships out there. ------------------------ Peace through superior firepower: a guiding principle for uncertain times. |

Many caldari ships lack enough power grid to fit MWD compared to i.e. minmatar ships of same size. This is mostly because you can/will fit AC's for minmatar ships in pvp where you need MWD that leaves you much more powergrid to use for MWD and HP buffer/active tanking modules.
This is not only issue with nighthawk but should be fixed regardless, imho.
