I must say I uber stoked that my inventory now opens up by itself after EVERY jump.....I found was always annoyed that after EVERY jump i would have to open my cargo up to make sure nothing had fallen out. In addition this feature should encourage players to ALWAYS CHECK AFTER EVERY JUMP for stowaways.....I hate stowaways because they poop in buckets when they are hiding in my cargo....and they ALWAYS leave the buckets

New inventory is awesome, it's: simple, good looking and full of great new features. Anybody who can't handle it is a bittervet with an inability to adapt to change.

The new system is a clusterfuck since you can no longer reliably reuse windows and have to keep opening new ones when you need them rather than have them appear automatically depending on context. The new system is a clusterfuck because it assumes all inventories are equal, and doesn't allow for any persistent customisation depending on inventory function and use. The new system is a clusterfuck because it doesn't handle things like POSes or large ship hangars in any kind of remotely sane way.
The new system drastically reduces the efficiency and ease with which inventory can be managed GÇö it fundamentally fails at the one thing it's supposed to be good at. It adds a couple of nice features and it solves one problem, but it does so at the cost of a fuckton of functionality that came for free with the old system and it has no way of replicating that functionality. I won't be able to actually look at it until tonight (and that will be after I gleefully "interrupt" someone's wormhole operations), but this is my suggestion to everyone who actually cares about this:
Clearly CCP is intent upon keeping this new inventory system. I doubt we'll get them to revert it. Their attitude in the test server forum clearly indicated that they were dragging us along for this. So rather than demanding they just go backward, let's help them go forward.
Report every bug. Take screen shots of what you don't like, mark them up, and make intelligent suggestions. Since CCP won't have a meaningful dialog with us, let's have one ourselves and come up with a reasonable set of suggestions on how to make this better.
CCP: Changing control functionality from one thing to another (double-clicking a ship, for example) is BAD. It's HORRIBLE UI design. Never ever do it. Seriously. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Fight your own battles and stop asking CCP to do it for you. |

You get used to things that are consistent and which let you work without any fuss. You do not get used to things that are inherently incapable of being consistent and which are inherently inefficient.
The new UI falls into the latter category, and it needs to be fixed so it works as an inventory management system. GÇ£If you're not willing to fight for what you have in GëívGëí you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.GÇ¥

I can see where they were trying to go but as many have pointed out, it's just not ready for the live server.
And who put the 'To Captains Quarters' on the right click menu for your ship, right above the 'Get Repair Quote'? And having your active ship actually be removed from the ships hangar instead of just being highlighted, terrible design. WoW holds your hand until end game, and gives you a cookie whether you win or lose. EVE not only takes your cookie, but laughs at you for bringing one in the first place... |

I live in a Wh-space, so I approached a Pos, I opened my ship cargo bay to jetison the "Bm's of the day" and then I just wanted my cargo open, not an option to open the pos hangar, strondiums bay, 3 corporate hangars, 2 ship maintenance, 2 labo, one "factory" ... even the "ammo cargo" of the defences ... And that's a medium pos i got, can't imagine the mess in a large one .
Anyone saying " You'll get use to it "... must be out off is head or still applying the patch |

It's A Bird... It's A Plane... No, it's all your cargo containers (including the gun batteries sitting 35km away from you) plus all those foolish GSCs you brought with you. SURPRISE! They get a neat little inventory index slot too. Just like the corporate hanger, and the silos, and the coupling array, and the assembly arrays, and nearly everything around you regardless if you can open them or not.
Btw, I noticed that my computer gets very unhappy when I Offline/Online POS modules. I guess the inventory index is going WTF! your messing with my containers! Thats not the proper way to do things here |

I have a medium POS with 5 research labs of different types and a corp hanger array.
I am CONSTANTLY moving stuff between them and finished products to my ships cargo. Had all my windows pinned in locations so I could view the as I needed them and seamlessly find and move stuff as needed.

Found another new feature this new bit of shiny UI gives us.
No more right click ship and open the hangar you want with a capital. Nope. Now its right click, open inventory, choose sub inventory (hangar/fuel bay etc ). Now on the surface, not a big deal. In crunch time when you want to have open what you want open straight away.. its a problem. dragging mods around mid fight for a refit or moving fuel around is not as easy as it was yesterday. That's a bad thing.

It's starting to look like another example of "Change for change's sake" and "Here's a solution for your non-existent problem".
Every single long-term software project I've been involved with succumbs to it. (Been at it for nearly 30 years)
There's nothing you can do. You can threaten software teams with pay-cuts, termination, dismemberment...whatever. Once the fever strikes, it has to run its course.
I've found the best way to deal with it is to have the responsible parties handle the resulting support calls. Nine times out of ten, the nonsense gets reverted back in record time.
