The War
It started here:
Quote: 2004.08.28 23:17:00
Nice work against EV. I need your two corps to do the same thing against someone else and I need you to start by next Friday. There is no time to waste and your fee should not be a problem. Please contact me about having your and CharityÆs corps do some work for me.
Normally, I look at emails like this one and get distracted by other things. People who wish to employ a corp such as mine and the Sharks usually take a bit more time to detail what they want from us. However the name on this email carried a bit of weight for me so I opened the convo, which was fairly brief as well, and thatÆs how we ended up here:
Quote: 2004.09.02 20:01:00 Body Count Inc. declares war on The Merchant Marines
2004.09.02 20:01:00 Sharks With Frickin' Laser Beams declares war on The Merchant Marines
This contract was really interesting. We entered into what was already a fairly contested situation. The Rising Storm had been at war with THEMM for over a week and were doing quite the job at chasing their ships all over Empire. When BDCI and the Sharks entered the picture, I donÆt think anyone could have predicted the results.
Our war against THEMM turned an already chaotic situation into total anarchy. The first few nights we found orange dots everywhere, strung out from Orv to New Caldari to Nonni. We worked with The Rising Storm folks on a couple occasions to great effect as well. By the time we contacted THEMMÆs leadership about a buy-out option (which this particular contract allowed assuming we met certain goals in the first week), they seemed more than ready to get us off of their back.
The Video
This marks the first time BDCI has released a video using Adobe Premiere. After my last couple vids, Leafo and LLeBRing made me promise never to use Windows Movie Maker again, despite what I was able to do with it. I obtained a copy of Adobe Premiere 7.0 Pro and began the arduous task of learning a program I had no prior experience with and using it to at least equal my previous efforts. Normally I would have released this vid within 7-10 days of retracting the war, but time and learning this b*tch didnÆt let me.
After the epic story-like feel of the EV video, I decided to do something a little more ôbasicö for this one. Little did I know that the video footage and my music selection would make this the hardest video yet in terms of synching the music and keeping the flow running smoothly. The final product turned out better than I dared hope. It may not be to everyoneÆs tastes, nothing ever is, but I hope some of you get a few minutes of enjoyment out of it.
ThatÆs all that really matters anyway.
Acknowledgements
As this video did not leave me anywhere to do credits, I am doing it here.
Leafo û Your patience and suggestions were a gift. I am truly thankful for all the help you gave me in getting past this particular learning hurdle.
LLeBRing û Thanks for showing everyone, with your last vid, where the mountaintop is. I hope to plant my flag there one day, buddy.
Zincol û You and the other Rising Storm pilots were a pleasure to work with. The few times we ganged up the results were spectacular. Who needs a Safespot Buster? We had you!
Charity Regard û For putting together one of the finest and most deadly corps in space. Working with you guys gets better every time and we look forward to it again in the future.
The Merchant Marine's leadership - While a few of thier members provided some amusement in local, THEMM's leaders were cordial and very professional.
If I forgot you, I apologize. I need some sleep.

Not bad Seleene, I see your getting over the "learning curve" of Adobe :)
Just a side note though, next time wipe your channel names off your videos :)

Thanks, Kirin. Not worried about the channel names. Anything special is passworded / invite only and anyone can feel free to hop into BDCI Public whenever they feel like it (which one of my people is trying to get moderated). This is the same reason I don't stress about hiding module loadouts. It's the pilots that make the battle, not the ship. -

*steps into the office, its monday morning, everything sucks*
Opens browser, jump in to the everlasting flame that is the E-O forums Alliance threads. Finds a [VIDEO] subject...from BDCI! OH JOY! The world isnt such a bad place after all!
Even though its "only a gankvideo" its in some strange way very very good! It could be the music and the atmo, or the nice flying or the shiny graphics. Or its simply all of the above! GREAT WORK ON YOUR 1st VID USING ADOBE! It kicks a$$ and takes no prisoners..erm..wait, thats BDCI that does that...
Anyway, as usual, a pleasure watching you work!
Regards,
LOWA

LOL! Thank you for the compliments, Lowa. You seem to have hit on it exactly. I knew that since the war was so short there was no way I could make something similar to what I did with EV. I decided to just take the footage I had, set it to the most jamming song I could and do my best to make the flow of combat as smooth as possible.
The music synching on this vid almost killed me. If you watch it more than once, you'll pick up on little things here and there like light missiles exploding to the beat, ships warping into attack formation to the song's vocals, etc... Lots of clipping and speeding up and slowing down of those clips to make that happen and then still had to blend it all together to form a cohesive whole.
Our next job, possibly our last before Shiva, promises to be another epic though. I'm almost dreading the attention it's liable to get us, but hopefully our target will give us some nice footage. -

All in all BDCI And sharks acted very professionally and cordially during the contract.
Two of my senior officers did indeed pay for a buyout. I however didnt know about it till after the fact BUT nevertheless I support there right to do it :) All in all was a reasonable buyout and about 1 days mining :P (Think seleene took some pity on our poor n00bs in empire)
One Correction suggestion on the video though Seleene... Your video makes it look like you conquered XZH. When In fact m0o had just conquered it and the norad forces were chasing them and the shields were already gone after a MM Pilot had just reconquered it. :) Other than that a good video.
