I only just logged in for the first time since the patch deployed and while I'm not terribly thrilled about the new inventory management system I'm not going to automatically object to it. I will, however, point out that somewhere along the way CCP broke two very useful features.
#1 In olden times, all of 24 hours ago, I could have my ship hangar open, make a ship active, and my ship would remain in the hangar. Now it disappears. Speaking for myself, and obviously only for myself, it is very annoying to have my list of ships constantly shifting every time I make a new ship active. Furthermore when I'm dealing with a ship hangar where I have 24 ships active and I'm cycling through them to make sure none are using mods other than weapons it makes it easy to lose track of where I was.
#2 In olden times, all of 24 hours ago, I could drag and drop items from my ship's fitting window to the ship hangar and the items would be automatically transferred to my item hangar. Now the items go... Nowhere. They remain on the ship. The game ignores my attempt to remove the item. This is especially a pain in the ass when you don't have multiple invetory "tabs" open, or don't realize that it can be done, and have to keep clicking here and there and everywhere. This pain is magnified if you are, as I was, cycling through multiple ships to remove non-high slot items.
I also found a spiffy bug. In cycling through multiple ships in my hangar the game stopped properly reporting slot data. Most of the slots were highlighted somewhat, it would be bolded were it text and not pictograms, and all the subsystem slot icons popped up in the corresponding slots. I believe that the active ship 3D picture also froze on one of the ships, but I didn't notice, or think I noticed, something regarding that until half a second before I closed the fitting window.
I also found a very, very, very very very annoying new "feature." When I opened up my ship's cargo bay a new pane popped up. This is fine, but when I used that pane to open up a cargo can and tried to open my ship's hangar to move junk into it it just re-opened the cargo in the third pane. In effect it is impossible to move items from my ship to the cargo container without opening up extra windows/tabs or making use of the tree diagram and the extra space it requires.
I sincerely hope CCP takes a page from the Captain's Quarters debacle and gives us the option to choose between the new and old methods of interacting with our inventories. |
