This a lottery for an Erebus type titan and more (each ticket is valid for all three prizes!).
Basic lottery information
You will be purchasing tickets for 10 million ISK each, no limit to the amount of tickets. There are 10,000 tickets, in total returning 100 billion ISK, but I may chose to close the ticket sales at an earlier point if I see the interest decreasing and thus speeding up the end of the lottery and faster annoucing of the winners.
First prize: Erebus titan, travel fittings, capital modules, fuel and custom rigs.
Second prize: Moros dreadnaught
Third prize: Thanatos carrier
Number of tickets in total: 10,000
Lottery ends on Fri, August 7th, 18:00 or when 10,000 tickets has been sold.
How will a winner be picked and how can we verify the winning number?
As there will be 10,000 tickets in total I've chosen to simply put all the pilots into a database, and upon picking winner simply running a select statement ("select pilot from tickets order by newid()" - MSSQL), and the name that comes up is the winner.
While you cannot verify this via external sites and/or media it simply comes down to trust.
Cool, so how do I get tickets?
Buying tickets is simple, each ticket cost 10 million ISK and you can buy as many as you would like. Simply send the amount of ISK for your wanted number of tickets to me - Chribba (ensure that you type it correctly) AND - and this is important! - Add the message TITAN01 in the reason line of the ISK dialog, the message will enable me to track your ticket and insert it into the drawing database properly.
Check your tickets here: Linkage
Examples:
If you want to buy one ticket, send 10,000,000 ISK to Chribba with the reason TITAN01
If you want to buy two tickets, send 20,000,000 ISK to Chribba with the reason TITAN01
If you want to buy fifty tickets, send 500,000,000 ISK to Chribba with the reason TITAN01
Of course you can send 10 million now and 20 million later, that won't make any difference, in total you will still have bought 3 tickets. So you can either send per ticket or in one sum, as long as they wear the correct message, the number of tickets will be correct.
Tickets will only be counted in the steps of 10, for example sending 12 million ISK will still only be counted as one ticket, and 2 million ISK will be treated as a donation. Sending 9,999,999.99 ISK will give you ZERO tickets as it will be rounded down.
IMPORTANT! READ THIS TWICE!
Tickets cost 10 million each.
ISK needs to be sent to Chribba with the reason TITAN01 - in ISK dialog, not EVEmail.
A confirmation is available here, so you can see how many tickets you have purchased and that your name is in the database. The data is imported on regular intervals via the API so it may take a few hours for it to show up.
So what if I can't fly a titan?You are still able to participate of course, what happends if you win and cannot fly it - we will solve that in a few ways.
First we will see how long it would take you to train for it, if that isn't working out we'll see if you maybe have a friend or corp mate you trust the ship to until you are ready to fly it.
Ok so that still didn't work out, what happends then is that I will hold a "firesale" auction on the ship, starting at 50B, whatever the ship gets sold for obviously is yours (winner).

Each ticket is valid for all three drawings, so if you're really lucky yeah you could end up winning them all with a single ticket.

It explains and shows that newid() does indeed function in the manner necessary for a random draw and IMO is a great way to do it as it is easily run agains the DB being created from a wallet API import. My hat off to Chribba for the idea :)

might I make a small suggestion - limit one ticket per character. People that really want it can use alts that means 3 per account and more if they have multiple accounts. But overall it will let more people participate. (It is going to sell out no matter what and when announced it will sell out even faster)

The servers would implode from the number of corp/alliance/richguy trial alts created to get in on it then.
If you wanted to limit it to x per pilot, you would have to also limit that to pilots that are made before the lottery (at least).
Would be a bit of a nightmare to have to check all those pilots if you could not get a GM to automate it (given a list of the names), so it does not seem practical.

Why?
That makes no sense, if people want to spend billions and billions, then let them!
What Chribba COULD do is to give out more tickets in total while the ticketprice itself is unchanged. That is a far better way to distract people trying to buy up all the tickets :-)
And by the way, congratulations to the winner, that was surely the cheapest titan ever: 50 mil |
