I have a Thorax ( amoung millions of other ships) And I just can't be bothered to use these pathetic Blasterax setups.
The 4 Named 250mm Railguns Which I use Pull a regular damage of 400 plus! Which is super satisfying. Coupled with a 2 Magnetic Vortex stabilizers and cap rechargers The setup is amazing ! But then who am I to talk I am just a nOOb !

Edited by: Lurk on 28/09/2004 23:07:43 The blasterax is the most damaging setup there is for the thorax, i'd even say the most damaging setup possible on a cruiser.
However, it's the most dangerous setup, too :P
Edit: A blasterax would wtfpwn your railrax.

TuRtLe HeAd - I'd be glad to meet your Railrax 1vs1 w/ my Blasterax if you'd like - send me an evemail and we'll set it up somewhere.

Just mount some Nossy's on the opposing ship and watch the Blasterrax stutter and stop from the huge problems with it's capacitor.
Been there, tried that, I'll stay away thanks.

I've seen a Crusader doing 150 damage a hit, with wreaking shots of 300, using Medium Pulse lasers, so I don't have a hard time believeing a named 250mm rail with the proper skill and equipement backing it can easily deal 400+ hits.

Maybe I'm wrong and hopefully the poster will clear this up. I believe he is doing 400pts across the 4 Rails which = 100 per rail.
I have seen that type of damage with 250mm Prototypes and Scouts, with AntiMatter, but not on a regular basis. But hey I only have Med Hybrid 4 and Surgical Strike 3 so maybe he has better skills then me. 2005.01.21 05:09:06combatYour Tachyon Beam Laser I perfectly strikes Blood Priest, wrecking for 533.1 damage. |

I have one, too. Your "millions of other ships" are shuttles?

Have a care how you speak of a setup who just do as much damage without damage mods than your rails with two vortex!

Either you made a typo and meant 40 (which would mean you have bad skills), either you're just a pathetic liar. Looking at your post as a whole, I think it's the second.

Edited by: Loka on 29/09/2004 08:07:00 tbh i use heavy pulse on my Thorac blame me, but they work much better against frigates, than Blasters or Rails. And Cruisers are frigatkiller, when in small groups or alone, not BS killer.
Also small blaster perform much better than medium sized blaster -> no thorax bonus, what a shame.
But again iam a nub, and dont know jack about EVE. _____________________________________ Dead or Alive

I can see and appreciate your point. However we have different perspectives. I have 6 more months of skill training and I know from testing that I am able to handle a few drainer mods before things get dangerous.
This is the reason I do not see nosferatu combo as a problem. It is the sheer amount of dmg output over a short amount of time. With the blasterax I usually startle most opponents. If they are able to escape they will tend to run rather than stay and fight.
To solidify my point - With my current setup each of my 5 small blasters has a 6.11 dmg mod and fires every 2.5 secs. So you can see it wouldn't take long to strip away the 800-1200 points of shields and then a similar layer of armor off another cruiser in under 30 seconds. The nosferatus drain a few points per module every 3 seconds which my cap relays fight hard against.
There is no possible way a nosferatu setup could drain a blasterax (especially a skilled rax pilot) before a potentially deadly amount of damage was dealt by the rax.
My opponent on the otherhand will be gimped in dmg output. Because of the drainers they will have only 2 to 3 hi-slots reserved for guns/missles and whatever drones. In my "30 seconds of life" scenario my opponent will more than likely be able to get through my shields and damage my armor but since it's quite a bit thicker than your standard cruiser armor it would take more time than would be available.
In a worst case scenario my cap drained, blasters and mods would be triggered off. My 8 heavy drones would still fight on, ravaging an already heavily damaged opponent. If they are unable to flee will dock in a pod.
