Good day fellow eve players,
After searching for hours on the forums, useing the white bar to the right with the SEARCH word above it all i found was highly expensive faction kitted golem setups.
However as i saved up enough for a golem i wont be yet able to spend another billion or so isk on it.
My question here is, is there a decent all T2 fit with some faction modules like 1 or 2 bcu to start of for a Golem.
I need help with the following,
a decent lvl 4 mission setup. (im running best quality in highsec) It needs to have an all T2 tank ( since i have to safe isk up again ) Im highly interested in torps and have t2 skills for them
Thats about it atm hints and tricks would be very appriciated

The whole point of using the faction mods for the tank is to free up your lows for damage mods. Try a fitting that using a Single Pith-Whatever Large booster instead of the 2x smalls.

i would say just manage your aggro, my buddy has a golem with all officer shield boosters etc etc, he just shoots everything and sits there tanking the entire room, you might not be able to pull that off for the harder missions.
t2 is generally as good as most faction stuff anyway, just cheaper and harder to fit in general.
get the best fit you can, figure out what you can do go from there, only a handful of missions that are really hard anyway and not many where you are forced to tank the entire room spawn like AE bonus room and such.

Thanks for the replies,
Would u be able to give an actual setup ?
something i was thinking of is
4 x siege launcher t2 with javelins / faction/t1 torps tractors salvager 1 x large shieldbooster t2 1x shieldboost amp t2 3 x hardners t2 2 x TP t2 1 x pdu 3 x bcu
range rig and flighttime rig would this work ?
Any more hints and tips would be awesome.

Never used a golem myself but as it has the TP bonus, might it be better to swap the second TP for another hardener or shield boost amp? Again, not speaking from personal experience, merely observation.

A t2 fit for a golem would be identical to the expensive fit just with everything down to t2. Except for the shield booster. That one pretty much has to be deadspace.

Yes it would work, but investing into at least caldari navy BCU's will save you a lot on fitting, allowing you to fit a tech 2 X-large booster for higher peak tanking. ---

Yeah you definitely dont need a deadspace booster. Its got seven midslots and a built in boost amp for god sake.
Which is not to say that deadspace isn't advantageous. Free midslots from not needing cap chargers or whatever means more target painters and afterburners.
The hyper expensive faction fits are for lazy mission runners and eft *****s. Lazy mission runners can't be bothered managing aggro properly and make isk a lot faster because of it. EFT warriors just have a hard-on for big numbers.
If you don't want to go mental with billions but want a perma-run option, consider 2 pithi b-types small. Around 600dps permatanked, which is more than adequate. I got mine for about 100mil each.
Everything above that is overkill, and if you ask me, is begging for suicide ganking.
To reiterate, the crazy over the top money fits are only there to boost epeen. People used to mission run before marauders, and even before t2 launchers and rigs. The golem manages just fine with t2 but can be made even easier.

More damage is never overkill. Dps isn't just for show in eft. The faster you kill the faster you make isk. Using a golem effectively requires torps else you might as well fly a cnr. Using torps effectively requires painters. The deadspace booster is a necessity because it frees up mids for those painters and it allows you to spend fewer lows and rigs on cap and more on damage. Besides, you can hardly call a single high-quality deadspace item overkill on a hull that costs a billion to start with.

1) Of course not, you don't even need a Golem for it, plain Raven will work just fine.
2) Of course there is, you can even do an all T1 fit Golem if you want, in which you can complete all L4's without problems.
The *need* is never about just completing a mission, it's always about doing it better, faster.

You don't need the expensive stuff at all. The only item you really need to be better than T2 is the CN/DG x-large shield booster, and that's mostly for CPU reasons. This setup works just fine:
[Golem, New Setup 1] Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Ballistic Control System II Damage Control II
100MN Afterburner II Caldari Navy X-Large Shield Booster Caldari Navy Shield Boost Amplifier Heat Dissipation Field II Ballistic Deflection Field II Phased Weapon Navigation Array Generation Extron Cap Recharger II
Siege Missile Launcher II, Mjolnir Rage Torpedo Siege Missile Launcher II, Mjolnir Rage Torpedo Siege Missile Launcher II, Mjolnir Rage Torpedo Siege Missile Launcher II, Mjolnir Rage Torpedo Salvager I Small Tractor Beam I Small Tractor Beam I
Capacitor Control Circuit I Capacitor Control Circuit I
Hammerhead II x5 Hobgoblin II x5
If you need more tank, forget about the expensive (and suicide-gank-attracting) deadspace shield boosters and just buy a nice safe crystal set. ==========

After reading this thread there are a few things that were said and were just bad.
1. You do need 2 TP's on the golem. Just because it has a TP bonus does not mean you only need 1. Using 2 means you will cruisers for close to full damage and BC's for full damage. 2 will also let you play around with rage torps hitting BS's for almost full damage also.
2. I saw a fitting with ccc rigs and torps. You cannot do this and have an effective golem, if you are using torps your rigs have to have range rigs in them, there is no way around that.
As for fitting your Torp golem with just T2 yes it is possible and easy, play in EFT until you get something that meets these requirments:
-2 TP's, the PWNAGE ones are best - rigs are torp range rigs - 3 BCU's (this is really minimum, i would try to get 4 and also make them faction, but with just T2 fitting 3 is prolly more realistic) - As long as you can sustain a tank of over 450 dps, or pulse a tank of 800+ for 2 mins you will be fine.
It really doesn't matter how you meet the above, as long as you do you will have no trouble at all running L4's

It's far from "necessary" but it makes it much more efficient. And over a period of months, that efficiency adds up to a lot of isk. That's why people do it.

Also if you're fitting cruise on your golem, get out. You'd be better off with a CNR at half the price.

Considering a T2 tank, even with no lowslots/rigslots to support it, is more than enough tank for a Golem, never ever waste ISK on tanking mods.
If you spend the ISK, pimp your damage.

Main "point" of Golem over CNR is that it can do T2 setup and still rock. Anyway
(1) If possible use CN BCU's (Or Dread Gurista ones, whatever is cheaper for you) (2) You are perfectly fine with T2 tank. Do not need "permatank", but if you really desire one you can do one with Golem a lot cheaper or sacrifioce less damage when doing it. (3) Look into hardwires. 5% are ofc uber but for a start 3% will be giving you also very very good isk/performance relation. (4) Painters. Noticed you had T2 in your plan, use PWNAGE instead, best named painters are better than T2. Strenght wise same, use less cap (a bit) and take slightly less CPU. (5) If you run into fitting issues, do not start with billion isk deadspace boosters. BCU's - if that is not enough or you are really skint go faction hardeners (not CN Invuls, but say 3 rat specific CN or DG ones, latter ones being usually a bit cheaper) that can save you healty dose of CPU for reasonable cost. Some hardwires help also with fittings if you are just few percent short and really want that particular setup.

T2 Golem should run mission just as well as a faction fit. Albeit a tad slower since faction BCUs are nice. But tank wise, it hardly needs to use anything abovr T2, and I am fairly sure named would even do the trick.

I was refering to the tanking part of it. And the BCU part is what makes it slower.
I should have thought this obvious, but I guess I should have expressed it more clearly.

The main reason for going faction/complex tank is that it lets you get 4 BCU's in the lows, you will have a lot of trouble doing this with just a T2 tank, you can, but i'm sure there will be times that it'll be a little iffy

Because T2 mods are cheap and good enough to tank with? Becuase officer attracts ganking? Becuse officer costs another 1 Bill isk?
The only real reason to get more expancive units is to run a mission quicker. BCUs will let that happen. Maby even some officer launchers, but I dunno if its worth it over T2 launchers.

nobody mentioned officer, faction is cheap enough for any decent mission runner you can buy a lot of stuff with LPs. Faction wont get you ganked if you only have a few modules such caldari navy bcus which imo 4 are a must on any decent torp golem.

Another thing that is obvious, or rather, it should be, is that better tank mods mean fewer slots used on defense, which means more slots used on offense. jita already got that in there, but I'll repeat it just in case you missed it. So you don't go making such erroneous statements in the future. |

What would you condsier defence? :P
I can run 4 BCUs if I want in the lows, and a named tank, and still do missions easily. Even with a target painter.
Learn to do missions tbh. Or are you trying to permarun some kind of massive overkill tank? With silly cap mods and such in the lows?
So in essence: "better tank mods mean fewer slots used on defense", No only for armor tankers :P (and if you consider painters, well you got 7 mids to run 1 or 2 easily and still tank more then enough)
