Life is a series of overlaping tyrannies in a tribal world. Some are more broadly beneficial. Police are no exception. It depends where you are on the food chain. If you are on the bottom of it no one really will look out for you.

And i have 5 months left on a conditional discharge. So i have done minor criminal stuff. Not against an individual though.
Its those that can leverage power by affording opportunity to others which lets them play spite games against their foes and get away with it..
The police regulary do business with such urban\corporate gangsters.

What? People in power make the rules and break them?
No way!
On the other hand, in the US the power really is in the public eye, and cops are regular joes as well. Any 'everyday cop' would much rather find some rich/powerful ******* doing something dark and dirty and knock him off the ladder and flat on his butt for the media, than bust weed/crack dealer #23987538 or wife smacker #138308113.
People honestly think that the cop that arrested the black harvard prof was a racist? Nonsense, he saw some high up, high educated dip**** pulling the race card, so he handed the guy his ass. ♥

I've heard a guy that was doped up and pointing a gun at local children for fun tell the cops... "You're just prejudiced against me cause I'm deaf."
It's actually pretty funny when the person being accused of bigotry doesn't know the accuser's race. I've heard... "You just hate me because I'm Jewish!" "You're Jewish?" "My name's Jacobi isn't it?" "I thought you were Italian."

Protip:If you want the cop that just pulled you over to love you, put your ID in your pants pocket and when he asks for it quickly shove your hand in and whip it at him.
My stupid sister did this once when I was in the car, thankfully for her the cop is not twitchy otherwise her ass would have been tazed.

I once went on a ride-along with an officer who happened to be white. We went to a domestic violence call. I couldn't go in with him, but he came back out with a fine upstanding young man who happened to be black.
Suspect: "Why you so quick to lock a brother up?" Cop: "Why were you so quick to hit your father over the head with a glass bottle?"

Fun story from college:
Dave has a party in his dorm room and gets really drunk. After awhile a noise complaint is filed and campus security (we only had 1000 students, so no police) eventually shows up.
*knock, knock* Campsec: "We got a noise complaint about your party." Dave: "OK." Dave closes the door. *knock, knock* Campsec: "Do you know who I am?" Dave: "Do any of us really know who we are?" Dave's friends: "Okay, Dave, we've got it from here."
On a side note, campsec only had bicycles, the campus wasn't that large, but one of my friends got pulled over for speeding by one of them while we were "field-testing" some rented minivans (for those wondering, they're actually pretty fun to drive, especially when they're not yours). Needless to say, he never lived that episode down, especially as we drove past laughing and honking our horns. The visiting high school students seemed to enjoy it too.

I used to be friends with a couple officers when I lived further south, no car is faster than a radio or a helicopter. |

Either that or he can enjoy life support. I've seen enough videos where people try to outrun the police on a bike or car and end up connecting with something bigger and more of mass than their little vehicle. Some of them don't bode well.
My best experience with an officer though was when he pulled me over because my tags had just expired. Throw in the fact that I had no insurance and my license was already suspended. I knew I was ****ed. He knew I was ****ed. I was completely ready to be put in cuffs and be hauled off when he came up and said he'll give me a citation for no insurance if I get out and walk home. Never even gave it a second thought as I marched happily home in 105 degree weather. In fact that was the last time I've been pulled over.

What a lot of people seem to fail to grasp is, when you break the law, they have to fill out long boring reports. Its annoying, it sucks, and if the cop has the chance to let it go without the need of filing a report, he will usually jump at it.
Its another reason cops hate law breakers, they're creating more work/reports for the poor guy. ♥
