Well with the additional racial destroyer and racial battlecruiser skills, i'm now at 206 million SP, and really passed the 100 million SP mark in ship command alone, with only 1 skill left to max out and i'm completely done with ship command skills for combat ships....Only recon ships are left.
Remap incoming soon.... |

Recon ships are now maxed and that's basically it for all combat ships for all races, of any role or size that are now maxed to lvl 5. for a grand total of 107 million SP in ship command alone and it's time for a nice remap.
Only thing left in the ship commaand are 3 freighters skills, the exhumer skill, the capital ore skill, the jump freighter skill and the transport ship skill......Basically ships that have nothing to do with any type of combat at all. |

The longevity of Eve is highly due to the high learning curve and the challenges it provides versus the will of it's players striving to beat those insane challenges, and achieving those that seem near impossible to reach. Once that sense of wonder is washed away and it looks like everyone will reach those goals, they become mundane quite quickly. Distant mountains, once the users start reaching the distant mountains you have to get creative and create new distant mountains or your users will start to leave.
An idea would be to have another whole universe open up and we discover new clans that have their own unique collection of ships that fight in different ways with vastly different technology and we have to salvage then reverse engineer it to create the corresponding skill books to learn this new tech and build these new type of ships.
This may be effing crazy but I'd also like to see Tech 2 Titans that require 100 times more resources to build but can take out T1 Titans in a single blow and super long skill training times to boot. User bases for all games tend to plateau and then go down when there aren't enough crazy ass challenges for it's players. Based on the perseverance and dedication of Eve's older players, CCP needs to expand the game at a whole new level and think about this seriously. |

I believe that that...
...would be really stupid...
That doesn't mean I don't want to see bittervet specific content. The difficulty with such content is that, given EVE's design and the intrinsic limitations of a level five skill, unless there is some (relatively arbitrary) bittervet flag to limit access it would rapidly be adopted by groups of very specialised alts - because that would likely be the most efficient method...
But this, the 200 Million Skillpoints club is not about veteren content. It is a distant mountain created by the players. Like Trippoli's "Train every skill" and Entity's "Own one of everything" it is a player reaction to just how vast the potential scope of EVE is... And these distant mountains are what you make them. |

Problem is that i'm running out of distant mountains as time goes on and since a large part of the game has been trained up already, and i'm not training an alt or opening up an extra account, the skill wall limit is very real and CCP is taking it's sweet time deciding what to do with people that have been playing this long.
Maybe to sustain the idea that eve is umbeatable, they're hoping the old farts of the game just get bored and stop playing altogether, and unfortunately many have done just that......I'm the last guy that's still playing and that started in a group of dozens of players in 2003, and we used to work together. |

The distant mountains are fast approaching. New ones are needed, the sense of wonder is dissipating. "Train every skill" and "Own one of everything" sort of goals exist in other games too and provides no real differentiation. The developers are very much responsible for what those distant mountains can be and the player base will decide for itself with their wallets in the long term. |

There's that too obviously, but in my particular case, and i've said it several times before, i have no interest in research, production, trade or corporation skills and starting an aliance which the latter would seriously be too time intensive with me also working 50 hours a week, so i do not have the time to dedicate myself to that task period.
That leaves ship skills and ship support skills as the primary focus of training and the list is dwindling down fast now that 210 million SP is almost here and 170 skills are already at lvl 5....CCP needs to add depth to the game, risk pissing off newer players as only the old ones have the pre requirements done and the isk to train and buy the latest toys, or allow SP packs to be bought with plexes, throwing away the last thing that makes EVE unique in the process.....It takes time to get anywhere in the game. |

Time fillers to keep the char training if and when i run out of the skills i am interested in, and CCP still hasn't done anything for the old timers of the game in terms of super demanding skills and new ships for those that have endured the challenge that is EVE for years.
Right now, i'm doing all the strategic cruisers subsystems to lvl 5, and there's still some drone skills, a fair amount of electronic skills, shields and armor skills to chew thru( meaning lvl 5 in all of them), so that should keep me busy for a while, but knowing how fast CCP works( Cough), the clock is ticking and the alpha of star Citizen is coming this november.... |

Looks like 20 to 25 million left on the skills Mashie owns. Looks like you will have to buy some skills to break 200. |

Why is that?.....It's CCP that stated plenty of times that the game is umbeatable, so what happends to those who started 10 years ago and have all the isk they could ever want, fly the largest ships, trained all the skills and also have the best implants around?
It's up to CCP to keep on adding challenges for all levels of players, and not just those that aren't quite so old and bitter....
Edit: and no, PVP'ing just cause i'm bored with the game overall can only go so far..... |

(Rank 2 skill, so add 512,000 skill points) In short: 398 skills: 443,648,000 skill points (no Black Market Trading) 399 skills: 444,160,000 skill points (with Black Market Trading) Very short: 444m
Somewhat innacurate since many of the skills can be trained to lvl 4 and be more than good enough for the needs of a given user, so taking it all to lvl 5 means being the absolute best the game allows the individual on every skill.....I'm closing in on 200 skills to lvl 5 and about 150 skills to lvl 4, so if it isn't maxed out, it's still trained to a decent level anyhow, and i have no interest in getting many of these to lvl 5.
The game has always been about flying ships and being as best as one can be while doing so, and as far as this aspect goes, i have maybe to 250~260 million SP mark to, so it's less than 2 years away assuming i'm still playing the game for much longer. |

Still doesn't matter since i don't intend to create a char that's completely maxed out in pvp skills, at the same time the very same char is maxed out in research skills, or trading skills, or industry skills and so on......It just doesn't make any sense since i'm either doing one thing or the other and not both at the same time using the same char.
Brick wall is coming up in practical purposes for old players, and it doesn't matter how much CCP tries to ignore it, as it's happening right now and the unfortunate reality is that many have given up playing the game, because they're completely fed up of waiting for content aimed for them and it isn't being released. |
