No mining this year?
Well a pure kill tourney is easier to follow as a spectator though so this should be good.

What are the chances of posting HD YouTube vids of the final rounds of the tournament, like we had for AT6?

Any explanation for the tech 1 fittings limitation? Doesn't make sense, unless the whole point of the tournament is to generate comedy killmails. ---------------------------------------------

commedy killmails? that's all you can think about?
hint though: t3 have bonuses for overheating & t1 modules can overheat longr for greater effect.
anyway, i see unbreakable RR gangs coming though.

Since I've never done the PvP tournament in the last 3 fanfests, I have a n00b question: In the tournament, do you get maxed skills, or you walk in with the skills your character has?

From the Tournament Page Rules Section:
Quote: Players will be provided with a ‘super’ character with all skills at level 5.

I have to go deliberately off-topic here to cover a very annoying point.
In your process to warn people of following links on the forums, it appears that you have taken the blanket approach, with one exception:
If the domain is "www.eveonline.com" then in does not get the warning page.
HOWEVER:
It is less than pleasing that links, by CCP posters, to CCP sites, get the warning page as well.
Examples from this thread: www.eve-online.com ,note the presence of the - fanfest.eveonline.com ,note lack of -
Seriously. Straighten that out.
I am sure it was with the best intentions, but you know how some say: certain roads are paved with good intentions that were not followed up by equally good actions.

And I have to append this, I was not thorough enough first time:
It also applies to safe "mailto:" links.
Example from thread: http://www.eveonline.com/externalLink.aspx?l=mailto:[email protected]
As I hope you know mailto links are not harmful in themselves, though you may want to doublecheck that the address is in fact what the link said.
Even then, it was a mail link to your own site. It should have passed.

http://fanfest.eveonline.com has been added to the whitelist so it won't get the warnings anymore. http://www.eve-online.com was always in the whitelist and AFAIK has never gotten the warning.
I will look into the mailto link issue asap :) The warning system as a whole was something we put in very quickly with a deliberate 'blanket' approach, in an effort to protect the forum population as a whole from malicious links. We will continue to tune this system to try and provide maxiumum protection with a minimum of interference and appreciate your patience during this process :)
