Ok we have 12 battleships not countign the fail t2 ones and the pirate oens that are too expensive to be considered good.
So why not list the bad ones?

any list without a phoon in it is rediculous, maelstrom is one of the best solo lwesec boats. so no youre not

No, minmatar have some very decent pvp ships. Its just the battleships that suck.
Phoon is debatable, but considering the insane amount of skill training needed to get it on par with other races BS it sucks as well.

maelstrom has its uses but why you say solo low sec? All its characteristics scream GANG for me (slow and tackle compromises tank a lot).
Typhoon is awesome.. after you have 40 M sp ( I do on my minmatar char and I know how good it gets.. but takes soooo long).

There are twelve Basic battleships, Tempest just Sucks, Hype is outshined by a Mega for a Gank boat, So I would say Hype and Tempest are the least useful, Followed by the Mealstorm.

Of the twelve vanilla T1 battleships, I'd rank these two as junk.
Armageddon.
Needs Ogre II to get to the WTFOMG DPS levels, has only 3 mids and is stuck doing EM/Therm. Good at a gang DPS boat w/ an extra highslot, but the Torp Raven outshines it in every way (Outside of say, RR armor gangs, but again the Geddon is still lacking due to 3 mids)
Tempest.
While its passable in RR gangs and 1 vs 1 fights due to the spare slots it has, it doesn't quite compare in tank/gank to other ships.

Another way would be to list each tier separately:

Now listing it this way I'd say that the these 3 need fixing: Typhoon, Tempest and Hyperion, but others can probably do some better lists.

But the gank geddon has 8 low slots for tank and gank, in lowsec it beats Raven 100-0... Raven in lowsec pvp is just something horrible when you take gategunfire and fire from enemy...

For PvP at the moment, battleships are primarily being used as slower moving remote rep 'range projection' platforms.
That makes the Amarr battleships top of the heap, basically - they've got armour tanks and mid range weaponry.
Armageddon with it's utility high and fat drone bay is my personal favourite right now.
Abaddon coming close behind, because 8 damage bonussed guns and armour resists are very nice indeed. (My only real objection is that removing a gun for an RR module seems dirty)
Megathron - again, utility high, big drone bay, just a bit shorter range on it's primary weapon system
Dominix - because drones and neuts (and a bit of RR) remains a potent combo.
Typhoon - similarly, a good selection of midrange weaponry, and that big dronebay still.
... err. And the rest are much of a muchness.
Amarr are, IMO clear leaders in the battleship lineup at the moment, but Gallente are as good as they've always been. Caldari and some of the Minmatar suffer, primarily I think because shield RR is just a terrible idea - that CPU cost on shield transporters is pretty horrific. Caldari ships do well enough in a 'ship with some firepower and tank' lineup still though - the blaster Rokh is a rather nice heavy firepower platform, the gank raven a fearsome beast (still) and the Scorp... well, is still the only EW BS.
So... out of the 12, the top 10 are 'not the tempest, not the maelstrom'.
'pest is sadly the 'middle child' of the BS lineup, and ... just not very good at very much.
Maelstrom is ... ok, but is still an active shield tanker in a world where active tanks aren't so hot, and shield tanks aren't so hot either.

Battleship PVP comes in many flavors and different BS are good for each type:
1. Sniper fleets: shooting really really long range - Apoc/Rokh (range bonuses) then Mega/Tempest
2. RR BS gangs: remote repairing/ spider tanking - Geddon/Domi/Mega/ caldari and minny not sure
3. Station games: undock gank stuff and redock before they gank you - Abaddon/ the rest not sure
4. Roaming with faster ships: usually fly something somewhat expendable for this - Geddon/Domi/Mega/Typhoon the rest not sure

These ships with a capable pilot will **** any other battleship 1v1 except possibly a full neuting domi. Not counting faction bs

Could you please point me to this mythical 1vs1 pvp on tq? All I seem to get are blobs chasing me or a hapless solo target getting ganked by my alts.

Here is a Top 5 from the perspective of a low sec pirate corp. Heavy slant towards short range armor tanking RR BS's because that is what does the damage for us.
N.1 Mega - n.1 BS killer on our board and an awesome brawler.
N.2 Typhoon - SP intensive but when you get there it is worth it.
N.3 Abaddon - great for starting fights
N.4 Dominix - awesome support ship and great for nubs
N.5 Navy Mega - pricey to fit right but incredibly nasty. Cost stops it rating higher.

maesltrom with full tackle has no chance against a typhoon...
Maeltrom with lasers is a bit better altough.
