Just felt the need to share. Except for a few close family members and dear friends I have not told a soul. Figured it would be safe to shout it at the top of my lungs on here using a unattached character. I would be afraid someone would be able to find me through my real characters if I posted with them. I am still kind of floored by it all but damn, it does feel good.
So now I am 28ish mil in the black now and have gone on a donating spree to a bunch of local charities annonomously . Of course my real close friends and family have been taken care of and my partner and I are house hunting and planning many many trips overseas to see the world. It has been a hectic two weeks with all of the paperwork, meetings with my wealth manager ( that still makes me laugh. I have a a friggin wealth manager WTF!). Main idea is to have most of the money invested wisely and live off the interest plus x amount set aside for doing stupid stuff.
So what stupid/fun stuff should I do. Give me ideas people. Yes I'm going to still play eve because money or not it's fun. |

We are actually looking into that. Not a trip to the space station or anything. I don't have that much money. Looking at something like what virgin is doing with their spaceplanes trips. Sadly no one is operating passenger trips yet but I plan on doing it as soon as it is available.

You don't have to do it tomorrow. Since you're still young and the industry is just starting to become a reality, give it 5 to 10 years to mature and then look at your options again. Even in the best case scenario, it'll still be a luxury most people can't ever afford and by then some of the initial problems have been ironed out.

I am no rush. I know it will happened sooner or later. Plenty of things to do to keep me occupied in the mean time. Already planning on getting my pilots license. Always been a dream of mine to be able to fly and own my own plane. Now I have the time and money to do it .
No I won't be buying plex for everyone. My best friend who I play eve with gave me an idea of something to do for the Eve community. I am currently thinking about it. |

Assuming you are telling the truth and you did indeed win the lottery, stop with the "taking care of" things, don't act as if you're wealthy (you're not even rich, you just have a decent amount of money).
There are far more former lottery winners that end up in a couple of years a lot worse than they were before winning the lottery, because they think the huge winnings will last forever, then blast through them like it's nobody's business, then end up broke and in debt.
Set aside AT LEAST a third, preferably half of your winnings into extremely low risk (and low gains) investment from which you draw a modest but decent income, then do whatever else you might have wanted to do with the rest. http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/User:Akita_T http://eve-search.com/stats/Akita_T |

I don't live in the USA. The country where I am from when you win the lottery you get all the money that is advertised and taxes are already factored in. I won't be one of those lottery horror stories because as I have said a certain amount is set aside and we will live off of the interest that is accumulates. The rest will go into various investments and such and we have X amount that will be "mad money" every year. I plan on the money not just making us comfortable but our children and hopefully their children. The one house we really love that we are thinking of buying is not even anything fancy and in fact is a bit of a fixer upper. Neither of us see the need to blow money on some useless McMansion.
Seen to many people go nuts with sudden wealth and don't plan on following in their footsteps but, I appreciate the advice. Won't be playing Santa Clause going through space handing out Plex or isk. If I do something kind of want it to be something that lasts. Maybe a Goonaggedon lol. I kid I kid... but I will throw some money at something that will be fun and will keep going in Eve. I have played for many years and would be kind of cool to leave my mark here even though no one will know who I really am in game. |

Keep most of your money in a cash account. You have so much, there is absolutely no need for you to take any risk with it. You can protect against inflation by looking at government-backed instruments, such as fixed-term fixed-return government certificates. If you put anything into equity or gilts or corporate bonds, you're a silly billy. (PS. I was a highly successful wealth manager until I retired aged 33). This isn't to do with the markets or the economy, it's to do with the insane amount of money you have and the complete lack of need to take risk to grow it even larger. Unless your situation demands something different, but that would be unusual! Good for you and your family - now you can spend loads of time with them instead of stuck in a ****** job (aren't they all!). |

Traveling used to be a big part of my life until about 5 years ago and tbh I actually miss it. I used to apply to work on freighters to earn my way around. This is one aspect I would seriously consider for the op. Pick a location on the globe and go.

First, don't buy an ungodly huge McMansion. You're not going to want to clean it, and if you don't have anything better to spend $28M on than maid service, I can think of things. Like donating to me, so I can buy lottery tickets and win the lottery.
Plan to not go out and buy everything you've ever wanted. Before making any major purchase, stop what you're doing, and think long and hard about it. $28M is effectively enough money to never seriously work again in your life. Unless you start blowing it on useless crap.

I would suggest a tax lawyer in addition to the current wealth manager you have - good on you for at least doing that.
Your investments should be widely diverse and there is no need to go risky or into weird investments. If you don't understand it, don't invest in it. I would suggest Dividend Mutual Funds. You could live off of the dividends and dividends are usually tax at a lower rate than capital gains and dividend producing companies are usually safer.
But honestly if you diversify your investments appropriately your biggest 'risk' is going to be taxes. ergo, tax lawyer.
Also, decide on rules for 'donating' to family and/or friends and stick to them. I think the biggest draw back is the inevitable broken relationships. Just make sure that the ones you do lose are their 'issues' not ones you create.
After all this - have fun!

Seriously, I think if I won the lottery I'd try to get a reality TV program for a season where I went around the country meeting people and finding out just how much money would change their lives. Families living paycheck-to-paycheck having a car paid off, that kind of thing. It's amazing how big a difference a years' salary would make to most Americans. Use it to raise awareness of just how close most people are to totally changing their lives...if they'd just manage their money. It's time to put an end to CCP's war on piracy. Hire somebody to manage it day-to-day, and just to the more interesting stuff of growing the business. People don't seem to do well if they're idle and don't have to work at something. Lol Anti-Fish warfare boat.
Not in any of the places mentioned do :p. Just spent the last few days away just hiking some trails that I never had the time to do before. Twas nice.
Also thought about something to do that would be fun to do in EVE. I wanted to do something that was not a one shot thing. So I am thinking about running a lottery. Since I will front the money to buy the time cards and plex to build a a considerable sum of isk that will be the prizes. Then the money from the ticket cost (Thinking 1 or 2 million per ticket max of 250 per character) will then be turned over to the next lottery's prizes and so on. Hold it once every month or every other month. Then have a grad lottery every year on the anniversary of my win that I will add isk to to boost up any shortcomings from the past year if the lottery does not make enough isk to be self sustaining.
Already started the process of generating isk. Not going to cash in all the plex/time cards at once because I don't want to screw with the market. I have consulted with others that have run lotteries and they are helping me plug any holes in my ideas. Within the next week I should have an idea on how much isk I have generated. Then a week after that I'll kick off advertising it. If it fails then it fails and whatever few people play will get exceedingly EVE rich.
The one question I have for you guys and gals is this. Would you guys rather have isk only as prizes or a combo of isk and ships. My thinking is to just go isk only because if you want a ship you will just buy it with the isk if you win a ship that you will never fly the. You will have to sell it and most likely never get what it was originally worth. Also taking time to source the ships will slow down the process of getting prizes together.
So tell me what you think. |

You could make an ingame eve lottery for a complete trip to 2013 eve fanfest (flights / Accomodation / Ticket included). Mayby more that 1 person depending if your feeling generous. Also if you are going yourself to fanfest remember CCP accept charitible donation to icelandic charities in exchange for unique eve merchandise (like the 2012 DUST gun some bloke paid a few grand for)
Or if your smart invest in precious metals (NOT GOLD OR SILVER) :) |

Well, bought a house last week and had the paperwork sped up and have been moving in this past week. Nothing really fancy just a nice well built 4 bedroom 2 bath with a huge lawn and pool. Haven't ahead much time to play but I have had my friend selling off a massive stack of plex for isk. Took a little longer to get rid of it all than we imagined.
Going to kick off ticket sales at 00:00 Wed the 20th and end 20th June 00:00 with winners announced within an hour. Tickets will be 5 million each with a max of 100 tickets per charcter. On Monday I will have a grand total how much isk will be given away and the priize breakdown. It will be isk prizes and lots of it.
Was looking for an idea to spread the word about it and funny enough my non gaming fianc+¬ had a good idea which I am going to use. People who spread the word around will get free tickets. When someone buys tickets if the put your name in the note/reason section you will get free tickets equal to the amount bought up to 100. If your name is on 200 tickets sales or more your will get uto a total of 150 free tickets. This will be the only way to get more tickets than the normal limit. If figured since I don't give a hoot about making money off this it would be a good way to get people who don't have a lot of isk to get in this for free. And give them a leg up.
So stay tuned.... |

Just a general warning to those of you who haven't figured it out yet:
This entire thread is a setup for a scam lottery, and is designed for the sole purpose of luring you in, and giving up your hard earned ISK to a con artist.
If OP has all the money he needs, why ask ISK for tickets, further more, why a 500million ticket sale pr character? He claims he want people with very little ISK to get in on this, yet he asks 5 million ISK a ticket.
Do not touch this with a 10-feet pole. It's a scam. Do not let his lies delude you.
That being said, +1 to the OP, for a well thought out scam. I like it, and you'll probably trick a few people. It's a shame you didn't actually win the lottery, and never will, because that would have been just lovely. I guess you will just have to get a job, and work your ass off like everyone else. Enjoy! |

In the long run that is probably the most fun thing you can do with it since money corrupts while giving it away is relieving. Studies have shown time and time again that affluent people are more prone to cheating, lying and stealing. Furthermore, they are less compassionate and more selfish than the average person. As you can see. I am not full of it or running a scam. At the rate I am getting rid of the massive amount of plex I have. I am just going to have the first lottery be for 100B isk.
Prizes will be the following.
Grand Prize: 50B First Prize: 20B Second: 10B Third: 5B
Plus 15 1B isk winners!!!
I am starting ticket sales now till until downtime 20 July.
*Remember Tickets are 5m a piece with a limit of 100 per character. Send the isk transfer to Bopo Ropo
*If you want free tickets spread the word around and have people put your name in the note section of the isk transfer. You get one free ticket for every one that buys using your name up to a 150. If someone does an insane amount of ticket sales then I may raise it up. However the largest ticket promoter will get a 1B prize. |

Normally I wouldn't bother, but there's just so many things wrong with this post
1. Having alot of ISK does not prove your honesty (Good scammers tends to get rich)
2. Why hide everything behind a window, if you are trying to provide image proof of PLEX sell orders?
3. You've set solid black background, and 0% opacity on windows. I would do the same thing if I were to edit numbers in a screenshot. Took me 5 minutes to do this
Now do one with 100% opacity on windows, with a bit of nebulaes and explosions going on in the background, let's put those photoshop skills to the test.
4. No really, why do you think having alot of ISK means the lottery is legit?

I won the lottery so instead of trying to give back to the community, like what most would be doing, I am going to make so stupid lottery of my own and profit of you people in EVE-Online. No wonder you want to use some brand new alt, cause this is the most idiotic scam attempt I have ever heard.
If you where looking for a back story you could have said you used your main and scammed a prominent corp over the period of a year of infiltration, and you do not want to name the corp or your main so you made an alt. Then now you are feeling generous so you are going to make some lottery scam and give out the isk to who wins, cause you dont mind doing that seeing as you didnt have to earn it anyway, like how a lottery works. |

Not sure what country you are from, or what the options are there. But I would put a decent amount into RESP's (Registered Education Savings Plan) for each of you kids if you have not already. It is very high interest and they only get access to it when they go to college/university giving them extra incentive to continue bettering themselves rather than becoming spoiled rich kids living off mom and dad.
