So there i was floating around last night looking for a research slot and found one.  Problem... it's 4 hops into 0.0 Space.  Made it out there, rented the slot and was doing fine.  Left station to go back to safe space since there isn't much i can do in my blasterax in 0.0 and on the way back got jumped by a tempest... I'll admit i'm a semi n00b and only been playing for about 3-4 weeks... and i will admit to being stupid because i didn't use my mwd until after i realized i was a target. So currently i'm missing my thorax and enjoying my new pretty pod. (nice and shiney) Question is was i simply stupid for not runnning and is there anyway to take out a player battleship other than with a battleship?

If you just are going there to visit your lab slot go in a frig and fit dual mwds. Wont be easy to to target you then

you can incapacitate one using ew on a bb but you'll still get eaten by drones\fof missiles the best defence for nipping in and out of 0.0 sectors is a mwd frig like a rifter or even a inty.. you could of course make some instas from empire to your station in 0.0 sec space.

you can incapacitate one using ew on a bb but you'll still get eaten by drones\fof missiles the best defence for nipping in and out of 0.0 sectors is a mwd frig like a rifter or even a inty.. you could of course make some instas from empire to your station in 0.0 sec space.

If the BS has no drones, long range guns and no natural recharge (cap boosters maybe) and you have them webbed/scrambled with blasters I don't see that there's alot they could do.
you just need some luck on your side.

In answer to your question: Yes
A handful of Frigs can take out a BS , infact if you are really lucky and as someone said the BS doesnt have adequate drones and smartbombs or uber tanking then one frig could do it.
Likewise a couple of Cruisers could. Its more than feasible but like a lot of things in EVE it takes some preparation and some luck and ideally some skill
Inty = Interceptor (ie faster and does more damage than normal frig)
EW = Electronic Warfare ie sensor damps, Target jammers ( ie jam the BS so he cannot lock you)
BB = Blackbird , the best EW cruiser
Instas = a Set of bookmarks which when warped to would drop you out of warp right on top of the gate saving you having to travel the 12.5 km to jump.
In hindsight yes you was stupid  (I mean that in nicest possible way) but next time you wont be and thats how we all learn stuff dude.
So HMV consider Andy Williams and Dean Martin to be "easy listening" do they? Tell that to my mate Dave, he's been deaf for 20 years.

nope
do it like this (gate to gate):

nope
do it like this (gate to gate):

You can take out a BS in a cruiser, esp in a thorax. My self and a friend did a test once, and I was not able to out tank a thorax with one large armor repaier, though it was close, iit would take a long long time to actually kill me.
I did see a fraps video a few weeks ago of a thorax and 2(?) frigs killing a BS, actually more then a few BS's. It was evil and suppossidly it took them up wards of several minues to do it.
I have heard, though never seen, of intys taking out solo BS's. This requires a nub of a BS pilot, some luck, lots of player skills, and prob a lot of time.

intys are cool, but a lot of training time.
the deimos is not out yet, but should be a real beast when it is available...
btw, in a test i saw a thorax get through my scorp shields (unhardened, and with an mwd) in about 1 minute. thats 5000 shields or so, and includes basic resists...
