I would assume it's the number of constelations in the game available to the player (not counting the Jove storyline regions).

Actually Dust 5-14 does look more like a FW thing from the trailer it does show INTAKI V station but what does DUST stand for then?

I've never heard of the Amarrian scriptures or really looked at any of the EVE backstory / history but this looks pretty promising. It is referred to as 5 - 14 and the fact that dedicated EVE players will get why it is called this is bought up directly after the bit that states people not in pods can now be cloned. Being able to live forever while walking around and whatnot... gates of paradise... immortal...
No?

Well, right now, since only pod pilots are immortal, making immortality available for everyone effectively paves the way for planetside battles.
Air dog fights. Surface strategy. Eve really has the potential to combine just about every game type into one big game. It would be fun to make landing ships and try to take over a planet. --
EVE is about balls, brains, and paranoia. SP comes in a distant fourth place. |

Not sure how it makes all of the existing lore pointless as you so put it. Cloning was originally introduced by the Joves if I remember correctly. It being adapted for use by others who are not capsuleers is just evolution and adaptation of technology. I highly doubt they are going to just up and say that these foot soldiers have always had cloning capability. I would assume that how this cloning technology becomes available to soldiers is explained in the upcoming book.
Also, it was specifically stated that it will be merc corps who alliances are hiring to fight these ground wars. That makes me think that this technology is not used on the scale of an entire factions ground forces, just like its not used by an entire factions navy. Again my assumption is that only merc corps have this cloning technology due to its price or something like that. Some Eyes Demand Respect, Some Eyes Demand Fear, Mine ..... Foot soldiers don't respawn with cloning. You just progress from grunt #238662 to grunt #238663. Earthbound worms are insignificant enough that you don't need to keep them immortal. Way to expensive. -------- Ideas for: Mining

watch the video
two things that should awnser this in there:
1. "A new advancement into the eve IP [Intellectual Property] where people no longer have to be pod pilots to be clones.... They will actually be explained in one of the novels coming up". Abraxas has been talking about releasing a novel soon that would be more about the non pilots so it could be that, or maybe it's a long way away and tony is bringing out another.
2. "Buy trucks and extensions to that". This implies at least some sort of rpg elements imo so it's probably gonna be a bit more complicated than counterstrike.... at least I hope so.

In tens of thousands, 5 is the number of people at peak now, 1 will be the number of people after DUST is released at peak, and 4 will be the number of people that come back to EVE after they have spent time in the hug box. _________________________________________________

Edited by: Avalon Champion on 19/08/2009 07:03:19 Possible options for a 514 meaning.
1) 514 A.D. Monk Brendan - Sailor / Explorer Brendan the Navigator (484-577), also known as Brendan of Clonfort, sails the North Atlantic for seven years, including discovering Iceland (he also may have sailed to America).
2) The Year Chicken Itza, the capital of the Mayan empire, was founded
3) 514 BC Scythians defy Persia's Darius the Great in south Russia. (Tin foil hat on CCP havign a dig at Goons???)
4) 514 BC Hipparchus was murdered by the Tyrannicides

Take a look at the market under Manufacture and Research / Materials / Moon Materials / Raw Materials. I guess 514 may relate to a combination of these or other materials, producing a substance intrinsic to the new cloning technology, which is referred to in slang as Dust.
