I think with the big shiat eating grin on hilmars face when asked about a pc version of dust hints that it will be integral to wis. In addition to all the standard goodies with running around a station if you pay the addition fee you can take a drop shuttle or whatever it is that takes you from planet to planet and go do some ground pounding pew pew.

The other concern is that the current console life span is limited. Hasn't the 360 been out for years now? What happens to SOV when the Xbox 6900 comes out or the PS4?
What does it matter what new consoles come out? Its not like the 360 will magically not run dust if a newer console comes out. Like most console users they will just add the new one next to all the others lined up in front of the tv.

How exactly is taking away a variable in the new sov mechanic equivilant to killing eve as thats all the influence it will have on eve. I'm fairly certain ccp has a contingency plan to keep the current sov stable if the console game eventually goes belly up. Well at least they better have one.

Ill let the people screaming about SOE SWG answer that. If or rather When this fails, the community will be in pieces and its highly likey Eve wont be the same. Lose the players, lose the economy, end of game
What economy? The only interaction will be an isk sink on the eve side to hire merc squads to go to a planet plus whatever role planet ownership has on sov. Both of which, if suddenly taken away, will not have any effect past a slight change in the sov mechanics. Then the vast majority of Eve rolls along oblivious to the 0.0 game as always.

Also the way its set up, the PC has MUCH more precise controls than a console, so if you are going to pit consoles and PCs together (Which they will have to) then PCs have the advantage.
Unless of course ccp does the smart thing and includes mouse and keyboard support for both consoles. I would go to wal-mart and buy one of those cheap logitech wireless combos just to use it on my ps3 if there really is to be no pc client.

The reason you get such a plethora of hacks on pc games are because nearly everyone of them was designed from scratch to be player modifiable to prolong the effective life of the game and provide new content that the publisher doesn't have to pay for. Now if you make a game that has no accessable moddable parts then the chance of hacks are greatly reduced and a simple crc check on the game files will probably suffice against hackers who changed things on the binary level. Plus there are plenty of other means to beat hackers that ccp could use so that argument has little weight for not making dust available for pc.

Originally by: Glarion Garnier I hear that you can have a mouse and keyboard for PS3.. Am i wrong? and besides I might buy a PS3 once the price drops even more.. But it would be nigh to impossible to get me to buy a Xbox.
so it's kinda signed.
Do not buy a ps3 just for dust until it gets released and we see how well it was done. Whilst the ps3 is orders of magnitude moar powerful than a 360 its fairly apparent that the level of difficulty in coding a game to harness that power is pretty high. So it might actually play better on a 360 simply due to the ease of porting from the pc development platform to the directx based 360. I'm hoping CCP has the talent to push the ps3's potential power to its limits though as I already own one and would not buy a 360 just to play dust.

Originally by: Capitan Kidd One thing that is fact, is that console gamers are fickle. If Dust catches on with that demographic. Its only a matter of time before the new "Hot" game comes out, and dust is forgotten. Once the console fad wears off then what are the paying EVE subscribers left with?
That console gamers are fickle is a common misconception. The reason most console multiplayer games die off is because of planned obsolescence(EA built thier empire on this concept) to force people to buy next years sequal if they want fresh content. So basically no new maps means everyone gets tired of getting sniped from that same corner of the map or tubed in that particular hallway or spawn killed at that particular spawn or naded at that same damn spot because everyone knows the map inside and out and can camp at will. Dust content will be refreshed just like eve content on a regular basis so even if some hot new game comes along well dust just got a new content update too and will still compete well.
