That console gamers are fickle is a common misconception. The reason most console multiplayer games die off is because of planned obsolescence(EA built thier empire on this concept) to force people to buy next years sequal if they want fresh content. So basically no new maps means everyone gets tired of getting sniped from that same corner of the map or tubed in that particular hallway or spawn killed at that particular spawn or naded at that same damn spot because everyone knows the map inside and out and can camp at will. Dust content will be refreshed just like eve content on a regular basis so even if some hot new game comes along well dust just got a new content update too and will still compete well.
Hmmm interesting point.

You may be correct. However, what will happen whrn the entire SYSTEM dies off, and not just the game. Sure, CCP can keep DUST interesting for a short while. But when the next-gen of consoles comes around, everyone is gonna want to switch, leaving CCP to create a brand new game with the exact same content as before just to support he new system.
With PC, you don't have to worry about that as much. =)

NOT SIGNED
I do not want to see an immediate stand-alone Dust client for the PC. Rather, I would like to see CCP focus on getting WiS out for EvE Online, then having WiS integrated with the release of Dust (shared promenade, perhaps) and in the distant future, integrate the EvE Online and Dust clients into one on the PC.
If I can fly to a station, dock, walk to some sort of Dust staging area within the station and then drop down with a group of players for a round of FPS PvP... that will be incredible. Logging out of EvE Online to fire up an independent Dust 514 client is decidedly less so.
The in game explanation for this is in the cloning technology. Capsuleers and Dust mercenaries won't be using the same cloning technologies, thus preventing one from taking on the roles of the other. When combining the clients becomes technologically feasible, then the in game cloning technology suddenly matures to the point of Capsuleers and Dust 514 mercenaries essentially playing the same game.

/signed, Planetside was a blast and it's time a replacement get's released. A MMOFPS in the eve universe is perfect for it.
I have no problems with fps being released on consoles only, but releasing an fps like this on consoles only is just a lame back job especially for pc FPS vets like me. I mean come on what were you thinking?

For no other reason than that this game looks awesome, and I want to play it. Also, controllers are no way to properly play a FPS.

I've signed for a PC version of Dust already but also wanted to say that it would be just as good if Dust was made part of the current EVE Online client somehow. Even if you had to pay for a Dust 514 expansion to your EVE client.

I preffer console games because they are alot harder to mess with. I absoloutly hate hackers and the like, and XBL has a good system. While you, can mod and cheat its delt with very quickly.

At first I almost crapped my pants at the idea and was pumped HARD.
Until I see this little bit of information about it being console exclusive, my heart dropped like a bag of bricks.
I guess it was too good to be true. I will never buy a console, EVER. Let alone play an FPS on it. It's literally like tying a knot in a steel rod.
Do they realize how much money they're throwing away?
PC gamers and console gamers don't have to interact, figure something out.
At least give us a standalone version...

SIGNED and also very confused why they have tried this method of interacting players from consoles with those on PC.
My only guess why they are planning to release DUST 514 on sonsole is because there is a bigger market to plug.
The biggest problem has already been highlighted 400 or so times, FPS games are only really worth playing on PC. I tried many FPS games on console and very quickly put them down after many frustrated hours of not being able to target accurately. Take CALL OF DUTY, played it for years on PC released on XBOX, played for a couple days before giving up.
The whole aspect of cheating on PC FPS games is one of the biggest flaws i see in all PC FPS games but id rather deal with a bit of cheating than hold a stupid pad trying to get a head shot whilst sniping some merc running about just asking to be shot.
Get this thread sent out in all your corp mails lets get this petition up. Even if you wouldnt play the game but agree with the points by people please sign. I read a comment saying that CCP wont listen to this petition, i bet if half there eve subscribers signed they would have to listen.
And the very very final point what happens in 2015(guestimate) next gen of consoles is released. EVE has always been about this one big sandbox endless universe well i think there shooting them selves in the foot releasing a game that interacts with eve on technology they cant control. Consoles will always evolve who has ever heard of a 10 year old game that has new expansions and grpahic enhancments on console lol its stupidity, a console game has a shelf life simple fact.
why??? why??? why??? id happily pay for it to be an eve expansion rather than a console game, those who want to play can buy it those who dont can carry on with there normal lives in EVE.

I will still have sex with as many CCP devs as it takes to get DUST on PC.
Yeah yeah I know. But sometimes you have to take one for the team. Besides, it's not gay if you don't like it.
