simply because my BANG-BANG will affect and dictate where your capsule can live. Beside with or without your capsule in orbit that won't affect my BANG-BANG because doesn't matter if you have 1 ship or 1000 in orbit on EVE... it won't be on DUST... but my DUST things will affect your EVE! Got that?
Does the captain of a Submarine have an influence on the outcome of a SEALs operation? Besides, can you decide where you live if you don't lick the balls of the established Powerblocks? I'd rather not and put my bets on a Merc team to help me gain control of a little piece of space than bend over and take ift from behind.

"Imagine you are a small Alliance" and "you hire the best ground squads" - if you're in a small alliance you can't afford to hire the best ground troops. The big alliance powerblocks have more ISK and stuff to make the better offer. And also if you have a 1000+ member alliance chances are good that you have at least a few dozen of good fps players which have a XBox and can win your fights.
"The days of alliances controlling multiple regions will hopefully be over soon" No, I don't think so. But if in the future sov claiming will really depend on some XBox fps team deathmatches with all the above mentioned negative aspects (noob mercs, spies, friendly fire, team playerkiller, no real control of whom will fight for your sov) the Goons finally have found a perfect way to reach their goal: to destroy EVE - or at least the fun in EVE.

I current suggesting thinking of DUST... a single capitan of a submarine can change a country... and this is what is utterly WRONG!
what EVE lacks is Aliances stability not more features to make EVE even worst game.
I'm not against SPACE+LAND but current idea lacks of think-tank starting with two different games interacting where console BANG-BANG game will affect the space game regardless what you do in space.

Now if their thinking suggested something like...
You need to conquer the space 1st to deploy the troops on land and try to take out the land forces then OK... but this is an integrated game and not TWO differnt games.
To avoid a console freek from just starting BANG-BANG and cleanup a planet without need to get into the planet 1st (by space means)
So if "my" BANG-BANG can change a country... then whoever plays EVE will be better to stay in high systems coz 0.0 will change hands several times a day.

I don't have enough information on Dust to make build a profound opinion on. What I heard so far makes it sound like it will, in combination with the planned sov changes, help the smaller entities rather than the large ones.
That is a good thing. Change is good. I will wait and see before I run around like a headless chicken.

cluck
It'll be interesting to see how it's all linked together. In the end, if it allows Eve players more pew pew and less pos feeding, gate camping, blob boredom, then good. If it creates more of these useless and time consuming second job activities, then bad.
Going to bet it looks factional warfair-ish, contested space, objectives, etc. Let poses mine moons, jump bridges, etc, logistical tools. Planets, where the people live, where the tax bases and factories are would be the real source of power. Not that Eve and reality have ever crossed paths mind you. :)
