You cant, no, and its not planned for Shiva either so we would have to wait for a list of planned features for the addond to be announced to find out if CCP have plans for this, or something similar. I having both wingmen and drones could be a little overpowered.

Well i dont think it would be overpowerd... Thing is ofcourse you could say wealth corps could get alot of wingmans cause there wealthy (wingmans should cost money and require skills). Then becoming overpowered... sure they will but they have worked for there isk and it would be more realistic. Big corps in the real world are a hell lot more powerfull than small companies.
One problem i have seen in EVE is that a medium to big corps can be totally crippled by just a couple of hostile pilots. Big corps that are wealthy could easily hire some muscle and take care of a couple of anoying hostiles.
If corp miners could hire some NPC wingmans, it will mean that enemy corps will have to organise better coordinated attacks on miners etc. And this will mean (imo) nicer gameplay.

its an interesting idea but like has been already said its probably not going to happen (if only cos of lag with everyone having wingmen). Also at the end of the day even if they did come into the game, who would you rather have watching your back? AI that can be fooled and is predictable or player mercs who will give any hostiles a real fight. "Death Before Dishonor" |

You know what, I remember you from the beta forums (I also remember Hippey for some reason too), you were just as kocky back then...
Are you a stealth DEV team member or something?
You seem to know a lot about what will and will not be in the game...

Personally i think this is a neat neat idea.
Could be interesting and a possible black market type of feature.
think about it.......a hired mercenary wingman.
instead of hiring a mercenary corp. lets say you could "buy" a wingman.
it would have to be a higher priced thing so as to not abuse it too much but lets just say for discusion purposes, you can buy a wingman for 5 mill for each wingman. Limit 5 wingmen per character per 24 hours.
that's 25 mill per day max wingmen and quite a large sum for people to shell out.
at the point of purchase, the wingman is automatically linked to the player in question and his sign on. if not signed on, neither is the traveling wingman.
the wingman would have to be generated randomly someplace in the eve universe so that the wingmen do not gang and attack in force at once.
the wingmen would then be linked to that players character till wingman is exterminated. it would have to be linked so that when that player is online, so are the hired wingman that are hired to go pay him a visit.
being they are randomly generated, they wingman would then travel the vastness of eve space heading towards the victim in question.
put a bounty of 100k on the hired wingmen so that they would be free for all to interact with them but we all would know that is a hired npc.....do you pop him for the easy 100k or do you let him by knowing someone someplace just might be getting a fun little surprise.
not to mention a traveling gate jumping wingman would be that easy to pop anyways, i think a high percentage would reach there target.....possibly damaged already but nonetheless.
the wingman mercenary would track that player until he is killed by passing players or killed by his target player.
what better way to show someone your appreciation and love as to hire a wingman that will EVE'ntually find his target.
plus with the bounty it would make it fun for everyone.
imagine if we the players could generate some added content like this. npc generated or not.
plus with having the wingmen linked to players play times, with the limit 5 a day placed every day and lets the target player is a weekend player, well his wingmen would stack till he logs on. if 25 wingmen are hired over time before he logs again.....then when he does log, he's got 25 wingmen on approach from someplace at a player cost of 125 mill
you could also have it so that when a wingman attacks the player in question, he should also send an evemail stating that he was hired by x person. so they can hopefully return the favor.
if the hired wing man actually gets to the target and takes him out of his ship......that wingman expires. they rest of the hired wingmen would still be active till encountered or popped by a passing player for the 100k bounty.
I think it's a great idea, with some expansion on how and why and where with some conditioning, could be a neat added part of game.

the number of allowed wingman contracts would also have to be limited.
say nothing over 25 per character. that's 2.5 mill bounty if they are all killed by that person.
maybe make a tab off wallet or something showing wingman contracts posted by you and status and wingman contracts against you and status.
status being, active or destroyed.
also could add this option to certain agents......possibly only lvl 4 agents, like location services......ie mercenary services. or possibly with some of the not so leagal business inclined through black market service.
this could be a real neat option for sure. I think it would be a blast to have a bunch of wingman chasin me around space.
the wingman would have to be some sort of npc standing so that you could shoot near stations, gates, or anyplace in space without intervention from concord.
be funny to stroll up onto a station seeing it orbited by 5 wingmen that chased someone into a station.
as i sit outside that station, lie and tell the guy.....ya sure it's clear i got them all for ya.
as he undocks and gets creamed by five orbiting wingmen.
hehe

Sure, thats a great idea. How about NPC mining slaves? NPC cargo haulers? How about we just make EVE a single player game with a chat client? -
