I didn't do so well in my first year (2003-2004), dropped a few courses I wasn't enjoying - partly due to EVE but had all kinds of IRL stuff going on too which didn't help. I quit EVE summer 2004 though and took up an AVCE ICT course the next 2 years where I actually had fun and got a nice grade for 
Honestly I wouldn't recommend playing EVE during your A-levels, especially if you're as easily distracted as me

I didn't work for a year 1/2 after EVE launched. It was time well spent.

Apparantly only 2.5% of people in the UK got less than an E this year...

lol I got BBD in my A levels 2 years ago.
If I wasn't playing eve it would have been something else, I assure you.

I got school monday, I may even go as far as canceling my subs so I'm not wasting the 30$ a month

Here in the states A is the best you can get, and GPA is used to calculate your abilities with grades. the scale is 4.0- A, 3.0 B, 2.0 C, and anything under 2.0 is less than passing for University level studies.
My GPA is 3.7 and I will graduate with honors which earns a couple scholarships 1 for GPA and 1 for exchange status coupled with high GPA, so I can finish my last 2 years for free and get out of the country :P
I started playing EVE the month before I started University. If I didn't play eve it would probably HURT my grades as EVE for me is a bit of a stress reliever. |

i just scored AAAB and one ****ing mental party :D, ended with the guys garden under a foot of water :)

When I was finishing my masters in econ, I discovered EVE. guess what. I nearly quit that semester.
Needless to say I found a balance and now quit playing EVE whenever life demands attention.

Is eve really that addictive? I used to play around 40 hours a week when I started but I always managed to multitask without my grades suffering (or my personal life suffering for that matter)
I've never really had much issue with games or mmos interfering with life in general. /me shrugs |

It might not be addicting, but crazy things can happen if you're away for too long. Imagine being a BoB director andgoing on holiday for the weekend before they went poof, then coming back like HAI GUYZ HOWZ IT ALL- GAAAAH WTFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!????????

or earn isk like a madman to last you half a year (or a year, whatever until your next free time). That way you don't have to cancel and waste money doing nothing on eve. You guys still got time :P
