Confirming that the best course of action is to smash someone in the head with a brick when they look the other way.
Actually i disagree, you should wait til they are asleep....
Only problem with that is you're denied the pleasure of watching them lose consciousness
That being said I've ganked plenty of people who were afk or with their map up moving probes around.
LOL. I knew the map was evil.

"When Kewpie Dolls Go BAD!!!"
Sounds like the tagline for a Russ Meyer movie.

Hey, before this interesting topic is put to rest may I just add a thought?
I'm no pirate (I wish I had the skill) but there again I'm no Carebear either so I'm taking no view here but after reading the replies it's all Yaaarr! Kill kill kill, I gave it a bit more thought and I think there's an opposing view that hasn't been voiced and maybe should be?
Risk takes about an hour or two to play, your country gets invaded and you maybe you lose, you've enjoyed the game and hope to get your own back next time, starting again with an even board. The thing is with Eve is that it's not an even board and it takes considerably longer than an hour or two, it's weeks, months, years of hard work, there's always the possibility that what you've worked for can be taken by somebody else.
I'm not saying it's more than a game but it certainly has the possibility of being far more of a loss than just simply being blown and podded.
There's many examples of when Eve Online has a Real Life cost, you cancel a date with your girlfriend because you promised to attend an op, you're now late for work because a mission took longer than you thought etc, then there's the real life time that you may have lost doing a mission only to be ganked just before completing it, not to mention the subscription costs or the loss of so many millions that you could have used to buy a Plex card. Many real life friendships have been broken by eve online events and actions. All of these are Real Life sacrifices or 'costs' and all of these sacrifices can be taken away by a silly mistake and/or a lucky/vindictive pirate.
Playing cards has costs lives and livelihoods and that's just a game too.
As I said earlier I have no real view either way but I've certainly lost a few ships to gankers/pirates and the damage has felt quite real.

Pew pewing someone has real costs too ya know. Example: I should really go to class/call my girlfriend/sleep/take my dog out to go pee but the pvp gods chose this exact time to serve me up a lolfit battleship with potential faction fits and I'll be damned if I'm passing on that.

This one time, we warped a machariel pilot -who believed was helping with a L4 mission- into our Amamake deathstar with about 15 Gank BS sitting at his warpin.
I felt bad for about 30 seconds. Then the KM got poasted and I was like ~word~

Edited by: MaxxOmega on 29/08/2009 16:52:27 One of the reasons I started this game was because I heard it was all or nothing. I have been killed in some ships I wasn't very skilled in flying but I knew that when I undocked. I figured "in for a penny in for a pound". When I got twacked I just said "cool"...
Plus I have heard some of the whiney smack talk and thought "Man I am NEVER gonna sound like that"...

Try this, flying in null space with a corp buddy (flying what he can't afford to lose), we get jumped by a far better pilot who wacks me straightaway, now that didnt hurt but the real pain came when he turned on my corp mates harbinger.
"No please, let's talk, no don't shoot let's talk, please...don't shoot"
I felt sick seeing that come up on local, I really did, it was totally embarassing. I'd rather lose a thousand ships than see a corp mate squirm like that again.

The only time I feel guilty is when looking at a terrible setup on the lossmail.
I would be more inclined to provide tactics and ship setup advice.
