I really like your plan to stream previous torunaments as a warmup to this year's tournament. It is nice to revisit them and they will hopefully get some additional momentum going for this year's competition. |

Just as an update, CCP Abraxas finalized the names of the ships and descriptions as follows:
The Osprey hull is Etana. The name is drawn from the same branch of mythology as the Gallente Ishtar and the AT8 Utu, and has a nice connotation with some ancient Caldari-Gallente history involving Caldari Prime.
The Merlin hull is Cambion. The name comes from a half-demonic entity which ties in nicely in with the description of a crazy, fiery rocket brawler with mad overheating bonuses plus it's believed that the Merlin of wizard fame was either a cambion or descended from one.

the full specs of the ships are not final and Game Design are still working on those. It will be a logistics ship with a covert ops cloaking ability although what the final specs will be are subject to change.

Names drawn by the CSM.... oh man, that seriously made me LOL. So much of everything in EVE is determined by Ye Olde Random Number Generator, from turret damage to loot drops to spawn timers to wormhole mass and time limits. So now when CCP needs a little randomizing of their tournament match pairings, they give that "honor" to the CSM. Not sure what that says more about, the RNG or the CSM. One thing is for sure: the CSM has finally made themselves useful. |

I think they intentionally put this new and probably super osprey ship as the tournament winnings because they want to see them for the next tournament. if the new ship performs better than the basilisk then the winners may very well decide to use them in the next alliance tournament... i mean was there any better tournament fight than 2 years ago when i think it was PL brought out the Freki's? |

Bringing the Freki's out was indeed awesome.
I don't know about the cov logistics though... cloaking in an alliance tournament doesn't seem to be of much benefit. Guess we'll have to see what the bonuses are. If it can overload all it's modules indefinitely then that coupled with repping bonuses might make it pretty awesome. Still, the biggest mistake I see made in alliance tourneys is when a team does not or cannot primary the logistics ship. The odds of wining a fight go up significantly when the guardian dies first. The cool thing about the Freki's is what do you go after? You could primary the Freki's and really hurt the other team ISK wise... but tactically the logistics ship is worth a lot more imho. It's a tough call for the FC when they see something like that, I bet, because in normal eve combat you KNOW everyone will primary the unique ship... just to get on that KM.

The whole reason it's been pitched this way is that all the other recent AT faction cruisers use one of the abilities from that race's recon/EWAR pool and Caldari's only EWAR is ECM. Given what we've read, it seems it would be BEYOND TERRIBLE for a Moa to have the bonus to ECM target jammer strength like the Rook.

One of these is not like the other. Now's not the time to start injecting inconsistencies into the line-up. The "Etana" was supposed to be a Moa hull, Caldari Faction HAC. You got the Cambion right, so please reconsider the Etana's hull and bonus plans. I know you're itching to prove that you really did commit tiericide but get real. For such a pretty name, it doesn't need to be something that gets put away forever because it's too useful to risk losing.
As currently envisioned it also represents a fully unique ship/ability combination which is not something limited edition ships have ever been before. They have always been enhanced versions of the role the parent ship filled. If the devs really believe we need a hull that can do logistics for black ops gangs, the playerbase has been asking for a Tech 2 variant of the tier-2 battlecruisers for some time.
So CCP, how about this instead for the Etana?
Etana (Moa Hull)
5 Highs (5 launchers), 6 Mids, 4 Lows
20Mbit/s Drone Bandwidth / 20m³ Drone Bay
Powergrid: 680MW, CPU: 495tf, ~2200 Shield, ~1100 armor, ~1400 structure

You got the Cambion right, so please reconsider the Etana's hull and bonus plans. I know you're itching to prove that you really did commit tiericide but get real. For such a pretty name, it doesn't need to be something that gets put away forever because it's too useful to risk losing. As currently envisioned it also represents a fully unique ship/ability combination which is not something limited edition ships have ever been before. They have always been enhanced versions of the role the parent ship filled. If the devs really believe we need a hull that can do logistics for black ops gangs, the playerbase has been asking for a Tech 2 variant of the tier-2 battlecruisers for some time. So CCP, how about this instead for the Etana? Etana (Moa Hull) 5 Highs (5 launchers), 6 Mids, 4 Lows 20Mbit/s Drone Bandwidth / 20m³ Drone Bay Powergrid: 680MW, CPU: 495tf, ~2200 Shield, ~1100 armor, ~1400 structure 60km targetting range, 17 point sensor strength, ~1600 capactor, 140m sig, 193m/s speed Requires Heavy Assault Ships I Cruiser Bonus: 5% bonus to shield resistances per level, 10% to missile kinetic damage and velocity per level. Role Bonus: 150% to ECM target jammer strength, 25% to missile launcher rate-of-fire.
Sir, that is a lot of QQ for a ship you will never see, much less fly.
I'm happy to see something new and different than the usual "it's another HAC." Not to mention that a covops logi is something unique, useful, and, well, cloaky enough that we may actually be seeing these deployed on the field instead of locked in some collector's hangar. |

The only time the chat channel on their site works for me is when I'm not logged in. If I log in, it refuses to load, just cycles. I've tried shutting down all my mods, but still nada.
Anyone else with Firefox having this issue?
Just tested it once again. I log out, their chat works fine. I log back in, no chat at all.

Try clearing your browser cache or using another browser. If that fails to work then send an e-mail to [email protected] and they will help you further. |
