A scrolling combat log would be useful with a colour code that can be user set. In fact there are many ways to show combat details which are actually useful. CCP just have to copy most other MMORPGs out there, no need to innovate.
The current flashing is plain rubbish and belongs on 8 bit computers.

more informative:
"You are under attack" "warning. You are taking damage" "Your sihelds have taken damage" "Your capacitor is nearly empty" "Your armor has taken damage" "your gonna die"
Do you really want your onboard computer saying stupid crap like that all the time? Neither do i.

But this is EVE! We are hardcore, we don't want useable interfaces, or easy management. Useless grind is where the fun is at! Waiting is good and not knowing what's happening is even better. The really REALLY elite even reload their guns one at a time - single unit of ammo per shot.
At least that's what I've come to conclude, reading on this forum.
So, yes, better UI, definitely needed, but either "too much work" for CCP or blocked by the hardcore elite who think that even seeing your enemy by visual is too much information and makes the game too easy... |

All of the above is already easily visible and very noticable. What game are you playing?
You should probably find out what's going to be in the plex and take out the scramble capable ships first or something like that. Works for me.
Still a better notification would be a good thing since NPC are not the only ones capable of scrambling. Certainly couldn't hurt.

Always take out frigs first? I know this doesn't fix scram notifications in general but I'm amazed you get most of your money plexing and don't do this.

Well, I just started flying a shield tanked Ishtar this week, so I got a bit ahead of myself I guess.
Typically I would, but I got greedy and went for the overseer ;|

Ultimately this is where YOUR issue was, you took a bad route to the finish line. However it does not discount the validity of your original post. There really needs to be something for Scrams at least, since they're kinda important to know about. _____________________________________ Haruhiist since December 2008

This. I almost lost a rupture once recently since I thought I was disrupted, not scrambled. The next time I PvE'd in that rupture, I almost lost it because I was slowboating towards the next BS, only to realize halfway there that I could use my MWD.
Edit: I'm talking about 0.0 ratting, which means I can't just kill the frigs first. Well, not all of them. ______ Why has the number of players online dropped from 50k to 25k? BECAUSE OF SWINE FLU |

Agreed, I hate when the overview says "This target is warp scrammbling me" even if its a disruptor. I need to know if I can MWD or not. It should say:

To be honest, I wish CCP would just redesign the UI from scratch instead. We don't need a UI like WoW, but at least allow us to make some customizations which allow us to organize the information provided by the UI better.

even though this is just another whine, hes got a point(no pun intended )
something a bit more noticeable that isn't mixed in with the rest of the bull**** flashing across your screen while being shot at would be a lot more helpful.

Originally by: Siigari Kitawa Welcome to Eve. Where battles are fast and furious. Where PVP is intense and quick. Where plexing can be as entertaining as a real PVP fight. Where information and notifications flicker across your screen in the blink of an eye.
And where when you get scrambled, you have no way to know if your overview is 10 miles long.
It used to be that Aura would announce that you are warp scrambled. Now, you get a hundredth-of-a-second notification saying "External factors are preventing operation of this module" or some BS that is two lines long and impossible to read in the heat of a fight.
So I'm in a plex (Serpentis Minor Annex) and here come the rats. I wail on the overseer then plan to get out because they're hurtin' pretty bad. As soon as the overseer drops I click warp to station. A couple seconds later I think "Hm, crappy lag" then notice my shields are still plummeting.
While my shields drop below 30%, I scroll my overview up to the top (sorted by distance) and notice TWO Guardian frigs are scramming me. I race for my drones. I sic em and overload my guns and I'm staring at my shields thinking "I've got 10 seconds to pop two frigs."
Doesn't happen. I explode.
Thanks for the awesome user interface, CCP. Put Aura back where she belongs.
Where's the fun in warning us we are being scrambled? Who would by them if they knew that using them came with a negative enemy text message warp scrambled alert bonus? "Door is ajar...Please fasten Pod Belt...Warp Scrambler Alert!"

Well there's nice little icons in the overview that you can see! (and spare me the long overview as you can sort by ship size if you really want to check).
I'm pretty sure that once upon a time Aura was the only one that cared enough to tell you what you didn't want to hear at the precise moment that you didn't want to hear it

The saddest thing is this time a lame NPC got the loot pinata, when it should have been a player!
Oh, and you know how to solve the problem? Once you've sold enough GTCs to buy a new ship (though really, why do you bother plexing when you just buy all your ships with RL cash?), do the following things:
1) Expand your overview to a useful size. Maybe instead of GTCing another Proteus to lose, put some of that money into buying a better monitor if you have to. I have never seen a complex or mission where I couldn't fit the entire NPC list on my overview at once, so you should have no problem seeing the warp scramble icon next to the frigates.
2) Think before acting. Be aware that there might be scrambling frigs, and LOOK for them, don't just sit there obliviously half-AFK as you die. ==========
Merin is currently enjoying a 14 day vacation from the forums. Until she returns, you've got me to entertain you!

Originally by: Siigari Kitawa Okay I want to be clear here -
I make most of my living in exploration sites. So I'm most definitely not whining about plexes being 'too hard to afk'.
I love plexing, it makes me feel relaxed and it's overall an enjoyable experience.
What I'm upset about is that for about what, eight or nine months now, Aura does not report when you are warp scrambled, when she used to all the time. It was one of my favorite sounds of Eve, actually.
Top 10 favorite sounds in Eve:
1. "Your security status has been lowered." 2. "You are unable to warp because you are warp scrambled." 3. Tachyon Beam lasers 4. Neutron Blaster Cannons 5. believe it or not, "The capacitor is empty." 6. "Warp drive active." 7. Minmatar cruisers engines 8. Old Dreadnought movement sounds (sexy stuff) 9. The alarm for session changes. 10. The old fitting panel dropping and loading the grid.
Anyway, a lot of this stuff is gone now, which kind of tells you how CCP feels about sound :( but I want Aura reporting scrambles.
11. Skill training completed.

hey, i got an idea. you remember BACON? well how about something that monitors your combat logs and when you get the log entry of being scrambled it plays a sound? seriously. there ya go. i just solved your problem. now, either pay someone to make it or do it yourself, if you care that much. we know its possible and not a breach of EULA. do it and stop crying or continue to cry and admit your just a lousy troll. -------------------------

I honestly believe that the response to this post would be completely different had it been posted by someone other than Siigari. If Chribba were on here posting about wanting Aura's voice back in the game you would all be right behind him on it.
I've been saying for a long time that I want Aura's voice brought back the way it used to be, and there is definitely nothing wrong with having the information that you need to know given to you in the best ways possible.
Stop trolling the OP and actually respond to the post.
